Molting Goldfinch.....

I was looking out the front door and saw this molting Goldfinch. What a mess it looks right now! In a few days it should be a beautiful yellow male. I look forward to seeing them all decked out in their summer color.
A definite sign of spring :-)

I'm not getting out much except for PT so far. Lots of stiffness and swelling still in that knee. Apparently that will last for several months. Had the staples out on Wednesday (that's "ouch" x 24). Feels better without them pulling on the skin. Next week is suppose to be sunny and warmer so I plan to start some short walks on our road.

Such great close-ups of your molting goldfinch. I saw a lot of molting Blue Jays last year. They do look really strange when they lose their feathers.

Yes, a true sign of spring! Unfortunately it's turned very cold here again & rainy/snowy. But they are saying it should improve by Monday.

I'm being sent to PT again too. I'm supposed to start next week. Although I don't know if I'll be able to tolerate it this time or not. I'm a lot weaker now. I guess I'll find out.

I'm glad you got the staples out. I remember with my ankle surgery it was quite a relief to get them removed.

Wow! The ones up here are still wearing their winter outfits.

After watching my father go through that surgery twice, I know you have a lot of hard work ahead of you; but don't get discouraged...it's worth it!

By the way, I have really enjoyed watching the eagle and her babies. Thanks for sharing that website.

Mary, good to see a post from you...hopefully by summer you will feel lots better. I don't even like the thoughts of 24 staples..makes me cringe just thinking about it.

These are fantastic shots...

Hi Mary...In another month you will be chasing Mike around the house. : }}haha!!
24 staples that I could see would be a bit much!! The five I had in the back of my head at least I didn't have to see! lol
The Goldfinch haven't started moulton yet here!!
After yesterdays Old man Winters April fool joke on Spring, with 8inchs of heavy wet snow, and high winds, any bird in it's right mind probably headed south....
I was without interenet and electricity for 12 hours!! Long day!! Thank God for wood stoves!!

I hope your knee recovers very soon. And I hope the goldfinch come back in post-molt plumage so we can see before and after pics.

Well, you are making progress. That's great. I bet you can't wait to get outdoors too. Your weather sounds inviting.
I have seen a few Goldfinches too. This winter came and went( I hope) and no Goldies stayed here.
Have a wonderful week.
