Sharing a layout I created for Let's Capture These Sketches last week.
Meet Eden, my crazy passionate, cracks me up with the funny things she says and does girl.
Jouranling reads: Eden's feet grew about tow sizes during the summer of
2012. We were shopping for school shoes when she comes up to me wearing
these beauties. She was so happy they fit. She flt very grown up in
them, and seriously wanted me to buy them for her. There was no way
that was happening. (We decided to make a quick pit stop at one of the local shoe stores
directly after Dance Camp one day (hence the body suit, and shorts)
Once again Jocelyn delivered in the sketch department. Sketch #159 over at Let's Capture These Sketches features a lot of blocking to work with. To this type A personality neat orderly lines often make me happy.
Hop over here to see how the rest of the team interpreted the sketch, and to link up your own take if you'd like.
Thanks for popping in today friends!

Sketch #157 Reveal
As you read this I will be in Saskatoon enjoying Crop & Create with a couple of girlfriends, hoping to make even more while I'm there. Can't wait to tell you all about it. In the meantime check out the sketch Jocelyn hooked us up with this week at Let's Capture These Sketches.
I loved all the strips. This month I tried something different. I tried to stay 100% true to the sketch.
As you can see I failed miserable. The sketch is still very visible, but it's definitely not exactly the same. Oh well maybe next time.
The photos are of hubby and my youngest, Eden playing on the merry-go-round at the lake this past summer. When is the last time you were on one of those? Anyone else like me, and get nauseous just watching kids go round, and round on the thing?
If you'd like to see what the rest of the team created using the sketch, or link up your own take on the sketch, please pop over here.
Thanks for popping in today.

LCTS Reveal
Natalie created sketch #155 for us to work with.
If you know anything about me, you know that this was about 4 photos too many for my usual style. To make it my own I substituted tags for the smaller photos along the right.
I kept the larger photo, and the mats behind it, and moved the large title from the bottom left to the top right. You can still see the inspiration from the sketch within the layout.
The photo was taken just before leaving for the Canadian National Dance Championships where Isabelle competed (for the first time ever) with her Jazz Large Group. Their song was called Fiesta a fun, and upbeat rhythm with a real Brazilian flavor.
Journaling reads: After only one year of taking Dance Classes at KickIt Isabelle was invited to participate in the Competitive Jazz Class. It was a little challenging for her at first, but after a few weeks, and a added number of classes including Ballet, she looked great. She loved performing Fiesta at CNDC, and Festival this year.
If you'd like to see what the rest of the DT came up with using Natalie's sketch you should pop over here and to have a peek later on today.
Thanks for popping in today. I hope you have a fun filled weekend on the horizon.

Let's Capture These Sketches Reveal
Sketch #153 by Kimberly went live today. Look at all the inspiration.
I had this fabulous photo of Eden holding a perfectly preserved monarch butterfly we found in our yard just begging to be used with this sketch. I grabbed my scraps of random papers and bits, and pieces, and went straight to work. I played with a little gesso once again, but ended up covering up most of it in the final design, again (someday I'll get it right). Some ink, mist, stamps, stickers, metal...a little bit of everything is what it took to get this one just right.
Used a few more Chic Tag pieces on this one. (I've begun skimping on them, as I'm running out, and can't easily pick more up locally).
Hidden journaling on the tag once again. I am loving those tiny alphas by Prima. They are a perfect size and stick really well. And that kraft doily? A surprise gift from a friend (lucky, lucky me)
I've layered a couple of different stamps here. One being the Transposed Dots design by Christy Tomlinson for Unity Stamps.
Really liked getting my hands a little dirty with this one. Thanks so much to Let's Capture These Sketches for the inspiration. You can see what the rest of the team created, and link up you own layout here.

Let's Capture These Sketches sketch #151 boasts patterns, blocks, and flourishes. Here is what Kimberly created for us to play with this week.
For whatever reason, this gorgeous sketch was giving me a hard time. I just couldn't seem to get it to translate onto paper the way the sketch intended. Has that ever happened to you? I began by flipping the sketch to suit the photos that I wanted to scrap. I think perhaps that's where my dissatisfaction came. I was stuck on what photos I wanted to scrap, and couldn't quite make them work as well with the sketch as I would have liked. But, still I forged ahead, and came out with a layout that to document the moment in a way that is fun, and playful, and has my fingerprints all over it.
Can you see the sketch in there? It's flipped on it's side, and mirror imaged. I encourage you to hop over to the Let's Capture These Sketches blog to see what the rest of the DT created, there are some really great takes to be seen.
And don't forget about the blog up happening this weekend over at Scrapping Everyday Miracles. You have the remainder of the weekend to get it on the fun, and qualify for some great prizes. You can see what I have up for grabs here. Have fun, and happy hopping. You can see my layout and rak here.
Be blessed this weekend!

Let's Capture These Sketches Reveal
Sketch #149 in now live on Let's Capture These Sketches.
Here is Natalie's sketch
Check out all the white space and the cluster. So up my ally. The flowers kind of threw me for a loop at first because I don't actually own many flowers anymore, and definitely none that large. I decided to just look at it as a cluster rather than 3 flowers. Then things came together very quickly.
Once again I combined a mix of manufactures on this page including: Jillibean Soup, My Mind's Eye, Prima, Evalicious, October Afternoon, Jenni Bowlin, and Studio Calico.
These photos are of Théa, and Eden are from the day my girlfriend gave us a mini tour of the local radio station she works at. The girls met their favorite DJ, and were introduced to a bunch of the staff. Two sweet guys in particular totally made their day by suiting them up in a cowbow hat, and lanyard. Such a small gesture of kindness totally made their day.
A simple, yet eye catching design. Works for me. You should see what the rest of the design team created. Curious? Click here.
Have a wonderful weekend friends!

I realize it's hard to see the outline. Consider this caption centered on the bottom, and that should make things a little easier to see. |

Sketch #147
Team A is up over at Let's Capture These Sketches this week, and Natalie provided us with a great sketch to work with. I love grids, so this was right up my ally. Here is the sketch.
Here are some close ups of my take.
Lots of yummy misting , and a little stamping (there's some white under the "ait", it's just hard to see. Maybe someone can help me here. I've been using Stampin' Up's white, but with less than thrilling results on patterned paper. What should I be using to get the best result? Paint? Gesso? I'd sure appreciate your tips.
Loved this sketch, and knew right away that I would want to cut up a 4x6 photo to use with it. Darwin says it makes his head look funny, because his neck is cut, but I think the pieces are close enough together that your eye isn't fooled.
You can have a peek at the rest of the Team's layouts, and link up your own take on the sketch here.
Supplies:
Lily Bee Design: patterned paper, index card, and card stock bit
Pink Paislee: ticket
Jillibean Soup: "summer" alphas, journal spot
American Crafts: "portrait" alphas
Studio Calico: Stamp, mists
Cute Tape: glassine bag
Prima: wood button
Chic Tags: flair badge, punched tap
We're off to celebrate the last long weekend of the Summer at the lake. One last weekend of sleeping in, beaching, and family fun time before the craziness of the Fall schedules overtakes us. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

LCTS Sketch #145
Natalie is our sketch designer this week over at Let's Capture These Sketches. Here is the sketch we had to work with.
This one was a little tricky at first for me, until I realized I could group everything just a little closer together creating a layout that still followed the sketch, but reflected my true style.
Here is my take on it.
One of the best things to me about being part of a sketch team, is that I get the opportunity to dig into my stash and pull out older items that I've let sit idle for too long. Because the focus is on the sketch and not the product, I'm free to mix and match to my heart's content. Here I've used some new Evalicious: journal card, badge, and tag, some really old Crate Paper: the punched yellow strip (Random Collection), some Studio Calico washi tape, some Amy Tan leaves, and Ormolu tag, an old Prima sculpture flower, a really old stamp (I think it's Maya Road), and the start chip board again is really old (I think maybe Jenni Bowlin?!), along with some Studio Calico mist, Jillibean soup alphas and some Maya Raod trim. Love 'using it all up'. If you'd like to get your hands on those Evalicious goodies, or even the Ormolu tags they are available in the LCOM store.
A couple detail shots:

Reveal #143
This week we were given the privilege of working with a unique sketch by JJ. All the squares, and straight lines were right up my ally.
The design allows for several modifications, as the squares could either be interpreted as photos, blocks of patterned paper or journal spots. Here is my interpretation.
The photos are of our resident joker: Miss Eden. One morning while she was suppose to be getting ready for school, she showed up in my bathroom doorway striking this 'what's up dude?' pose. She thought it would be funny to put body lotion on her face to look like a mustache, and goatee. Although mornings can be difficult between the two of us (as one of s like the other to move more quickly, and the other likes to take her sweet time), antics like this keep us laughing, rather than crying.
Some details shots
If you'd like to see what the rest of the team did with the sketch, and maybe even link up your own take on the sketch hop over to Let's Capture These Sketches.
I'll be back on Monday with Cara's Challenge #19 for all us from Scrapping Everyday Miracles. Until then we are off to the lake for a few days. I hope you have some fun, laid back style, family time scheduled for your weekend too, regardless of what corner of the world you are.

Happy Saturday friends!
Yesterday was revel day over at Let's Capture These Sketches. We had a guest this month, and Cindy Stevens did not let us down with sketch #141. Just look at this fabulous sketch.
This sketch has been one of my favorites to work with. I loved the butterflies, the straight lines, the overlapping squares, the funky stringy business going on, on the left. It was a pleasure to work with. Thanks so much Cindy for the inspiration.
Hop over to the LCTS blog to see what the rest of the talented ladies came up with. Hope you take a stab at it yourself. I'd love to see your take.
Until then, here's mine:
If you're looking for even more of a mojo boost you should check out the 12 Day Summer Challenge over at Let's Capture These Sketches. You'll need to register an account on the forum to see all the challenges, but it's a very quick process, honest. There are several challenges there, and I'm sure there's bound to be a few to pique your interest.

Reveal Day
It has been so gloriously warm here these past few days I've been enjoying the outdoors a lot more than blogging. I suppose I should warn you that, that will likely be the norm over the next 2 months. Summer is so very short here, we must take full advantage of the outdoors.
Let's Capture These sketches has it's first reveal from the brand new team today. Very exciting stuff. The sketch was a super fun one to work with, as it allowed me to break open some paint. Here's my take on the Natalie's great sketch.
Later today you will be able to see the rest of the teams' layouts, and link up your own take on the sketch here. We have a wonderfully talented team, and some really sweet ladies. I hope you'll take a moment to pop by and have a peek, maybe even say "hello". If you're in a shopping mood be sure to stop by the store. Tanya is having another huge sale. Lots of newer items included in the sale also. If the latest scrappy supplies are what you're after you'll be sure to satisfied in that department too. Check out the new Jillibean Soup for instance, here. Shipping anywhere in North America is only $12 too, that's a great price.
I'm off to work today, then into the garden to replace some of my shrubs that have died. Then, it's Friday Nite Football in this house. I'll be hanging with my man, watching the Bombers take on the Montreal Alouettes, really hoping we can come out with a win this week.
Have a wonderful weekend friends! I'll be back on Monday with my first of 3 projects featuring Crate Paper Pretty Party, for Let's Capture These Memories.
See you then,

Currently...
Happy Friday friends,
I saw this list somewhere recently (Pinterest maybe?!), and thought I'd use it today.
Listening
- to the girls singing the same song over and over while they clean up after dinner
Eating
- too many cupcakes from the ones I baked for Théa's class treats
Drinking
- chocolate raspberry flavored coffee from my new Keurig, hope it won't keep me up tonight
Wishing
- I could figure out why the basement is so freezing cold, while the upstairs is so warm, even though I've blocked, and closed all the vents down there.
Wearing
- capris and tanks these days, it's been so wonderfully warm here
Feeling
- so proud of my girls for having done so well in their classes this year
Wanting
- more hours in the day
Needing
- more hours in the day, ha ha. a new bed actually, poor D can't handle ours any long. Old age is kicking in.
Thinking
- about what fun family things we can do together this summer, that will please all the girls at the same time. Quite the challenge.
Enjoying
- having D home after his little road trip
- the fact that this is the last day of school, whoo hoo!
- getting to know the ladies over at Let's Capture These Memories & Let's Capture These Sketches
- the new series I've begun on Netflix called The Listener. It's addictive, have you seen it?
- sneaking little pieces of chocolate from my hidden stash
Dreaming
- of so many things big, and small. It's fun to dream, we all need to do more of it.
It's officially the last day of school here. We're all thrilled for the change in pace. We all love movies late at night, with popcorn on the side, staying up late, and sleeping in. All things better enjoyed during July & August. Bring on summer!
I'll leave you with this layout I created for the Let's Capture These Sketches Design Team. It was made using sketch #43 and the June kit from My Scrapbook Nook.
There are also a bunch of new goodies in the shop today, including new Heidi Swapp, Crafter Workshop, and Jillibean Soup. You gotta check it out.
Thanks for popping in. Have a wonderful long weekend friends. Be sure to come back Monday I'll be up at Scrapping Everyday Miracles with Challenge #18 .

Great News!
Check out my new badge ---------------------------------------------------------------------->>>>
I will be designing for Let's Capture These sketches!
I am so excited to have been selected to work along side Rosemary, and several other sweet ladies I've been getting to know over at the Let's Capture Our Memories Forum. I applied on a whim, with some hesitancy given my luck with Creative Scrappers, but this time I got a "yes". Sure feels good. The big reveal of the new team will happen on Friday, with photos and bios. But the announcement was made tonight, so I am free to share it with all of you right away. I see a few other familiar names on the list too. I am thrilled to be on the same team as each of them. I'll wait to let them share their good news before I blab it out here. The role is to design a layout every other week using the sketches created by the talented sketch team, as well as participate in the forum which I'm already doing, so, easy peasy right?!
My big box of Crate Paper Pretty Party should be arriving any day now, followed by some yummy Evaliscious goodies, I can't wait to dig into that stuff and get creating.
For now I'll leave you with a random layout I created of my in-laws. They were here for brunch one day. After whipping up the whip cream I offered them the beaters. To my surprise they both accepted, so of course I had to make them pose for a photo. I love when they surprise me like that.
And here are the Father's Day cards I created for D and his Dad, I realized I never posted them.
Thanks for popping by today friends, I sure appreciate that you take the time!
