Update Oct '21

Well, it's been a very while since I've done a progress update, again.  But the kids are back in school now and I have a bit more time.  I know these aren't super exciting, but they help a ton in keeping me organized.

1. Blue facets.  This just needs a few more threads tied and the binding put on.  It is creating a lot of little fluffies right now since it was cut to size, so I didn't open it up for the picture.

2. Harry Potter-esque.  This has been a bit more fun to piece than I was expecting.  Three blocks down, seven in-progress, and eight not started.

3. Scrap quilt. I found some similar grey thread to finish this up, but it hasn't gotten back on the quilter yet.

4. Fabric from Christmas.
Threads need to be buried and a binding added.  I'm close!

5. Trying to fit in - left over triangles. The top was finished!  I then put it away and forgot about it.  The quilter just opened up though, so maybe this would be a nice short one to put on.

6. Scrap bee blocks 2017: All finished, just needs pictures.  Still.  Wow.  It still needed pictures with my last update.  I really need to get on taking finishing pictures.

7. Black scrap quilt.  This needs pictures.

8. Winter quilt.
After much debate, I think I decided it was good as-is and doesn't need any borders.  I'll probably re-evaluate that though, since I can't remember for sure now.

9. Temperature quilt.  I need to quilt this.  It's from 2017, so it's rather low on the priority list.

Well, I'm pretty happy with nine items on this list.  After some lists with 22 items it feels rather skimpy.

Progress list

Well, it's been a while since I've done a progress update.  There are a few quilts that managed to get started and finished without getting on the list, but oh well.  Progress has slowed down a bit lately, but things are still moving.

1. Minecraft floors.  I finally started this one after having it on my list for quite a while.  It's now over half way done with the quilting.  I just ran out of thread.  Like with #2 on the list, I don't know where I got the large spool of thread.  I think it's Guterman silver, but I'll need to see if that matches and if I can get something larger than the tiny spools.  I really thought I'd have plenty of thread.

2. Scrap quilt. I found some similar grey thread to finish this up, but it hasn't gotten back on the quilter yet.

3. Green stripes.  Finished, Needs pictures

4. Fabric from Christmas.
I started an Irish chain with this fabric.  I just (as in two minutes ago) pulled this out of the closet to finish.  I think my plan had been to add a border around the edge.  When I started thinking about the logistics though, I decided that it was good as is.  It is plenty big enough for a throw quilt.  So...on to the quilter it'll go!

5. Trying to fit in - left over triangles. The top was finished last night!

6. Scrap bee blocks 2017: All finished, just needs pictures.  Still.  Wow.  It still needed pictures with my last update.  I really need to get on taking finishing pictures.

7. Black scrap quilt.  This needs pictures.

8. Winter quilt.
Since the Irish chain top is finished, I realized this is the only one I have left for piecing!  I don't think I've ever had a problem of "what to create next?", but we'll see if it happens.

9. Temperature quilt.  I need to quilt this.  It's from 2017, so it's rather low on the priority list.

Well, I'm pretty happy with nine items on this list.  After some lists with 22 items it feels rather skimpy almost.

Q1 FAL

I'm going to try the quarterly finish along this year.  I feel like that's about as often as I've been posting progress updates anyway, so it might be more fun with others.

1. Baby boy quilt (HCP): Piecing is complete and it is the next one up on the quilting frame.  I just oiled the sewing machine, so hopefully everything will run very smoothly!  After I took the picture I realized I don't love this as much as I thought I would.  I love, love, love the individual fabrics, but should have included some solids.  Oh well...I'm not going to change it now.

2. E's quilt: She is almost five years old and needs a new quilt!  We went to the fabric store and she had lots of fabric that she liked, but she seemed to gravitate towards brights, rainbows and flowers.  Her mom wants it to be able to grow with her.

3. Meshing solid HSTs: This needs to be quilted.  Densely, so the grey variations aren't so prominent.

4.  Scrap bee blocks 2017: This got all put together and now needs to be quilted.  I also want a scrap backing, so that needs to be pieced.

5. Temperature quilt.  I need to quilt this.  It's from 2017, so it's rather low on the priority list.

6. Rainbow Log Cabin.  I need to decide what to do with this.  I was thinking of making it reversable.  If I don't want to do that, I need to just finish it up!

7. Scrap quilt. Surprise, surprise, it needs to be quilted.

8. Winter quilt.  I have the fabric and an idea for the pattern.  It involves triangles and a sketch is somewhere on the blog.

9. Pillow with green/purple fabric.  I just want to make an easy pillow.  I just need to do it.

10. Black scrap quilt.  This is so close to being finished.  I want to square it up before binding, and the task seems daunting.

11. Wedding quilt left over HST II.  While I don't have a pattern in mind yet, finding one for HSTs will be pretty easy.  I was considering adding in some pink to have a pre-made girl baby blanket.

12. Green stripes.  This isn't square.  I don't really know how to square it up well (or easily), so it's been sitting around for a long time.

Things that don't count for the Finish-a-long...
13. Wedding Quilt left over HST: This needs to be washed and have pictures taken!
14. Jeweled floors

15. Wedding quilt pillows
16. Quilt for Ryan
17. Trying to fit in - left over triangles
18. Fabric from Christmas

Status in February

I am having a hard time finding the time (or motivation) to keep up with the blog, but I've decided that it's ok.  I'll post when I post and if I don't post, that's ok too.  I've decided not to do the monthly goal setting, at least for now, because...I just don't want to.  I have some baby quilts to finish that are at the top of the list, but I think I'll just do whatever for a while.  However, the list that I've posted has helped me keep track of what's going on, and it shows some progress too...I don't just have finishes. :D

Things I've worked on recently:
1. Robot quilt.  Needs to be quilted.

2. Temperature quilt. I just finished this!  So I need to figure out what to do for the backing and quilt.  It doesn't have anyone to whom it is going, so it's kind of on the back burner.  I was very glad it got cold in the end of December as it let me use my dark purples!

3. Post pictures of Grandma's robot quilt. I should probably take a few more pictures.

4. Baby girl quilt (BHS).  I'm about half way done with the quilting.

5. Baby unknown quilt (CK).  This is going to be a modified rainbow: orange through blue.  I'll probably wait to put the binding on until the baby is born, and choose purple or blue.

Things I haven't worked on recently (or haven't started yet):

6. Meshing solid HSTs
7. Rainbow Log Cabin
8. Scrap quilt #2
9. Jeweled floors
10. Lost piece
11. Winter quilt
12. Fabric from Christmas
13. Pillow with green/purple fabric
14. Trying to fit in - left over triangles
15. Black scrap quilt.
16. Quilt Halloween quilt
17.  Scrap bee blocks.
18. Baby TBD quilt (HDD)

Sept progress

1. Quilt Grandma's robot quilt. I think this is going to be my October goal.  It's been pretty slow going so far, but maybe it'll work better if I have a goal.  It's for my son, and has robots on the back.  He's most excited about the robots.

2. Robot quilt.  This is for the same son as the one above.  He just got a twin bed and so "needs" a quilt for it before winter.

3. Temperature quilt. Last month I was so surprised to realize that I hadn't worked on it for over a month.  I got myself caught up to mid-September.

4. Pluses.  It just needs a post and to be delivered.  Still.
5. Orphan rocket block. I made this into a pouch and sent it off.  It just needs a post.
6. Ombre hourglass quilt. This is also finished!  I really need to get on top of my blog posts.  Then I can cross a bunch of things off my list!

Other items that didn't get worked on this month, but are still loved...
7.  Scrap bee blocks. I've received most of these, but am waiting on a few yet.
8. Meshing solid HSTs

Summer standings

It's been a while since I've posted, but the summer has been busy.  I've still been making progress, even though it hasn't been well documented...hopefully I'll get some of them documented soon.  In the meantime, here's where I currently stand on everything.

1. Pluses.  Quilting is almost done.  This is my August goal, but it should finish up relatively easily.

2. temperature quilt.  Here is is through mid-July.  It's interesting to see the color changes.  (One line is a half of a month.)

3. Scrap quilt. There are still a gazillion threads to bury.  I need to find a good show to watch.

4. green/white hourglass baby quilt.  I almost have almost two segments done.  (One shown below.)  I was hoping to only do two segments, but it won't be wide enough, so I have a whole bunch more awaiting me.

5. Falling leaves: This needs pictures.
6. Sunset wall hanging: This needs pictures.

Other items still waiting aroundThe number has stayed the same.  I should really do some of the "finished" posts so the number can go down.  If I recall correctly, my goal was to be down to eleven at the end of the year.  That might be hard.

7. Meshing solid HSTs.
8. Rainbow log cabin.
9. Simply solids bee quilt.
10. scrap quilt #2.
11. Orphan rocket block.
12. Jeweled floors.

April progress

1. Woodlands quilt.  My goal for April is to get the top finished.  I'm about half way done, so I don't think it'll be too much of a stretch to finish it.  It's nice to have some easy months and maybe I'll even be lucky and get it quilted!

2. Temperature quilt.  I neglected this for most of April, but when I looked in the bag I did have March all sewn together and a few days in April, so I much have worked on it near the beginning.  Although it's now May, I've finished April and am all caught up again.

3. Quilt nautical quilt.  This is all done, but it needs a final post.

4. Scrap quilt. This has been waiting for some time for me to finish quilting it.  A while ago I took it off the quilter, and then decided that I needed some quilting in the colored sections too.  Several thread trials later I "gave up" and used matching colors for each strip.  I now have a million thread ends to bury.  But I think it was worth it.

Other items still waiting aroundMy numbers finally went down!

March recap

1. Riley Blake Challenge.    My goal for March had been to finish piecing this.  I wasn't too far off, but I also wasn't all that close.  I'm not all that surprised by this; March was rather busy.  However, that means that now my April goal is to finish it all up.  I don't think it'll be too hard.

2. Temperature quilt.   I did spend one night in the middle of March getting up to date on this.  I now have January and February all put together and the days for March 1-17 put together.

Other items still waiting around. I keep adding baby quilts...hopefully some of them can combine with other things. :)

February progress

There are only two or three less days in February than the other months, but it felt so much shorter!  Anyway, here's some of the progress from February and some of the plans for March.

1. Riley Blake Challenge.  I have the idea drawn out and ready to go.  My goal for March is to (start and) finish piecing this.  It's a busy month, so we'll see how it goes.

2. Meshing solid HSTs.  I have the HSTs all sewn together and the background on some.  The picture below is a few of the rows.  (After taking the picture I put it all away.  After my big clean three weeks ago my area is still clean!)

3. Temperature quilt.   I'm half way through February, although only January is shown.  The months go rather quickly, so I'll probably catch up sometime soon.

4. Quilt nautical quilt. The quilting is done and I just need to deal with loose threads!
