Thinking Of You

Talk about a fun card to create this week's creation for Eyelet Outlet is an adorable 4x4 specialty fold card made from using mostly different types and styles of washi tape.

The front of the card has four different types of washi tape as the base which include the Script Flower Washi Tape, the Bee Washi Tape, the Red Foil Washi Tape and the Flower Washi Tape where I hand-cut the roses and placed them on for movement. The focal point of the front of the card is made by using the Script Flower Washi Tape washy tape and one of the little girls from the Girl Washi Tape cut out and highlighted with the red border. A sweet sentiment was added along with several Jewel Strips - Black and 12mm Bling Jewels in Black on the front.

When you open the card, you get a flash of sparkle from the Red Swirl Bling
and the three Jewel Strips - Black that are sitting on top of the Floral Washi Tape
 pocket.

Sitting inside that pocket, is the cutest little card made from Script Flower Washi Tape  as the base and a hand cut red rose from the Flower Washi Tape as the focal point. I tied a black and white ribbon on the side and bejeweled this piece with several Jewel Strips - Black.

As you can see, many of the colors on this card were made strictly by using washi tape, so it does not matter what colors, types, or styles of card stock you have on hand, if you have a selection of washi tape from Eyelet Outlet, you are able to create a beautiful and unique greeting card at any moment.

Big Deal

It's Kim from Katydid Cards with you today...happy to be here!

When I saw the adorable Playing Cards added to the Eyelet Outlet a while back, I couldn't wait to get my hands on them!  And when I was actually holding onto them, I knew I had a "winning hand".  Here's the pocket card I made with them:

The cards paired beautifully with the Heart Pearls, Playing Card Washi Tape, and the Red Foil Washi Tape.  I used the now retired digital patterned paper from the Jackpot II collection by Stampin' Up on Basic Black cardstock which highlight the featured products nicely.  Here's a closer look at the cards.  The detail is amazing.

I like making pocket cards.  They're a nice change of pace from the top or side fold cards.  And here's the inside of the card which provides yet another opportunity to use the brads and washi.

On the reverse of the insert, I created a gift card holder.  When the gift card is removed, the recipient sees the cute sentiment.

I made another card previously using the playing cards and it's one of my all time favorites as it just makes me smile.  You can find it here.  And here's one by designer, Susan.

I love this card, too.  It would be perfect for someone who loves to play Poker.  Actually, I think I just love those playing cards and will continue to look for ways to use them!

Our Love Story

This morning I was perusing through Cricut Design Space images and came across a wonderful new image set called, "Our Love Story."  By the time I had reached the bottom of the page and seen all of the 35 images in this collection, I had FOUR valentine cards created in my head pairing these sweet images with a number of Eyelet Outlet products!  Before you know it, all four were finished, too! They practically made themselves!

This Cricut image actually has deer antlers on it and at first I thought I would replace them with Eyelet Outlet Deer Antler Brads, but I decided I preferred the doe and buck instead. I really love the Eyelet Outlet enamel shapes!  They add so much dimension to projects and this card really popped with a generous number of them in various sizes and shades.

When I saw this "Giddy Up" phrase, I immediately reached for my Eyelet Outlet Horse brad!  I added some grass and a fence to my scene which are from different Cricut image sets.  Then I topped the card off with a couple enamel hearts.

Next up, I loved this beating heart phrase!  You can almost hear the heartbeat through the realistic stethoscope brad  that I positioned slightly over top of an enamel heart!

Now for my favorite card!  I've had these Eyelet Outlet Peppermint Candy brads for the longest time, but had never used them on a project.  This colorful image really grabbed my attention and I knew the assortment of colors in my candy brads would be the perfect complement!  A bit of Red & White Foil Washi Tape for some added pop and my card was complete!

I wanted to share a tip with you on how I got these candies applied in a perfect straight line on my card.  I knew I wanted a candy positioned over each one of the scallops of the border, which is from Cricut's Holiday Cakes set, so in order to line up the holes straight and centered, I used text! I typed in 6 periods and then used the letter spacing function until each period was centered over the scallops.  I moved the scalloped border image out of the way at that point, because the holes actually needed to be in the white card base.  Then, using the slice tool in Design Space, I sliced the punctuation marks into the white layer to create perfectly aligned holes for my candy brads.

Here is how it looked on my design canvas in Cricut Design Space.

And here's how it looked after slicing the punctuation into the mat.  Presto! Perfectly aligned holes ready for my candy brads!

Thanks so much for stopping in today!  Have a wonderful day!

Rhinestone Poinsettia

It's Kim from Katydid Cards with you today.

I put Eyelet Outlet's Jewel Bling to good use with this rhinestone poinsettia card.  Rhinestone patterns and the jewel bling and bling strips work perfectly together to create cards like this.  In addition to the jewel bling, I also used Green and Red Foil Washi Tape.

The card base design was purchased in the Silhouette store.  I cut it and then applied the washi and trimmed around the edges.  This card has so much shine to it!

Here's a look at the card from an angle so you can see the bling better.  The strips are sticky backed, so it makes placement easy.  Just to be on the safe side, I placed liquid adhesive under bling where I was curving it.

Inside, I used another bling set as an accent.  If you look at the front of the card, you can see the same elongated bling on the front.  I separated the flower to use the green jewels and have the red to use on another card.

I used a rhinestone pattern to make a fall-themed pumpkin as well.  If you didn't see it, it's here.

Washi Tape Sled

Hi there!  It's Kim from Katydid Cards with you today.

I'm thrilled with how this sled turned out and I have Eyelet Outlet's washi tape to thank.  The border was created using Christmas Washi Tape, accented on the corners by the Poinsettia Brads.

The sled was made with Red Foil Washi Tape for the frame and Wood Washi Tape.   I attached the washi tape to the cardstock before I cut it on my Silhouette.  The washi cuts beautifully and results in nice crisp edges.  I created a wreath from the Poinsettia brads by cutting a ring of cardstock to the size needed and attached the poinsettias, overlapping as needed to conform to the ring.  The bow was cut from the same border washi tape, again attaching the washi to the cardstock before cutting it.

The skates have a Chalkboard Washi Tape base and Silver Foil Washi Tape blades.  I attached embroidery floss to the backs of the skates and then to the sled under the wreath.  I added more floss to the top of the sled.

Before attaching the sled to the card I added a while panel to fit inside the border washi and embossed it with the Petals-A-Plenty embossing folder.  The sled cut file was purchased in the Silhouette store.

Inside, a simple sentiment also from the Silhouette store on a mat of red.

Have you started making your Christmas cards yet?  There's still time to pick up the new brads at the Eyelet Outlet store.

Up On the Rooftops

It's Kim from Katydid Cards.  Thanks for stopping by.

Up on the rooftops is where the action is today.  The Sleigh is another newly released brads at Eyelet Outlet.  For the cards I'm sharing with you today, I paired it with the Prancing Deer brads as they work perfectly together.

This easel card was created with a cut file from My Scrap Chick.  The house is cut from cardstock and adorned with the Holly, Red Foil and Brick Washi Tapes.  I also added the new Santa brad on the panel with the greeting.  I coated the snow with Wink of Stella to give it some shimmer and shine.

On this card, I wanted Santa's sleigh and reindeer to be a silhouette across the moon, so I heat embossed them in black.  They embossed beautifully and I think they look great.  I added some Pine Trees to complete the scene below.  Though you can't see it, I added a bit of sparkle to the roofs.

This box card was made with a cut file from the Yuletide Collection by SVGCuts.  I'll be sharing another card I made from this collection in a future post, so stay tuned.

Here's a look down at the card, so you can see the three inserts.  I love these box cards.  So clever that they lay flat for mailing but open to a stunning 3D card.

More Christmas cards to come, so please visit again real soon!

It's in the Cards

It's Kim from Katydid Cards and today I'm sharing two cards featuring another of Eyelet Outlet's new clear stamps, Cards.  I think the Card Brads are adorable and I love working with them so I was thrilled when the corresponding stamp set was released.

My first card combines the Jack of All Trades image with not only the card brads but also the Tool and Screw Brads as well as the Chalk Board and Red Foil Washi Tapes.

I made a peek-a-boo aperture for my image and colored it with turquoise, red and black.  You could easily create this using circle punches to create the opening and the larger frame around it.

The tool digital paper was matted on a larger mat rimmed with the Red Foil washi.  I didn't originally plan on the band across the top, but it just needed something!  So I edged a strip of cardstock with the Red Foil again and topped it with the Chalkboard.  Then I added three screw brads to accent.

This card would be a perfect way to thank the Jack of All Trades in your life...especially if you're a master of none!

While the card above is masculine, this card is for any woman in your life who deserves to be Queen for a Day.   The Card brads also include Kings, so this could easily be made for holidays like Father's Day.

I also used the Playing Card Washi Tape to make the top panel and matched my cardstock to that.  I inked the image with black ink and centered it at the bottom of the circle leaving the perfect space for three Queens.

There are more great images in this set and I'm looking forward to incorporating them into my cards.  AND to see what my Eyelet Outlet DT sisters will create.

Song Cues

Hello everyone!  It's Kim from Katydid Cards and this week I'm working with song cues.  Deck the halls with...llamas?  Yep, that's exactly what this card does.  This adorable trio of llamas are all decked out in their Christmas attire; Santa Hat, Holly and Antler Brads.

I printed the llamas on Whisper White and cut them in the scalloped oval using a cut file I purchased in the Silhouette Design Store.  There was very little coloring needed; just their faces, ears and feet.  I placed the brads where I wanted them and lightly marked their outlines on the llamas.  Then I removed them and applied their "fur" with the Marvy Snow Marker.  I heated it and...instant fur.  When it was fully dry, I replaced the brads.

This focal panel was placed, on pop dots, on a larger scalloped oval cut from Red Foil Paper.  They were placed on a mat covered with Glitter Red Star Washi Tape...this is absolutely beautiful washi tape.  I ran Red Foil Washi Tape around the perimeter of the card base.  As a finishing touch, I placed some of the Red Foil Washi on some scrap cardstock and punched out using a Star Confetti Punch from Stampin' Up.

Next, I have a card for cat lovers.  Those of us with cats can so appreciate the humor...and the truth of the greeting on this card.  And the sentiment inside, too.

To make this card I used the Cat and Holly Brads as well as Pink Pearl Jewel Bling Strip and Chalkboard Washi Tape.  I used several Silhouette Design Store files to make the window and banner.
Here's a peek at the inside:

I hope you liked these Christmas cards and are busy working on yours!  I shared two Christmas cards last week as well.  You can find them here if you missed them and would like to see them.
