Teacher Gift Card Holder

It's that time of year when we breath deep and congratulate ourselves as parents for making it through the school year. Don't forget to thank the teachers that made it happen before everyone heads home for the summer! Today's project is a simple but fun gift card holder that's perfect to hold your child's teacher something they appreciate. Before cutting the paper for this with the die, I covered it with strips of Tape Measure Washi and Skinny Heart Washi. The heart washi comes in a set of three pastel colors and I alternated the strips between the Tape Measure Washi. The heart pattern is printed in a holographic foil. It looks great with the wider yellow washi.

When this opens, the gift card holder pops up. I decorated that with a strip of each washi as well. A sentiment to say thanks to the teacher is included

To make the front of the gift card holder pop, I cut two cardstock circles and added school related brads. The first has a Mini Lady Bug Brad, an Apple Brad, and a Headphone Brad.

The circle on the right holds a Book Brad, Mini Lady Bug Brad, and a Sketched Owl Brad.

Here again is the finished gift card holder. I hope this gives you some ideas for a last minute gift for a special teacher!

My Punny Little Tags

Hi Ai Fans! Today I'm channeling two of our best Design Team Members - Lauren Bergold and Susan Creech. Lauren is known for her project series and Susan is the queen of puns. I combined a little of both in these tags. In total, I made a set of six gift or treat bag tags that can be used for kids of all ages. Today I'm sharing three of them.

The puns were taken from the Think & Grin section of the October 2022 Scout Life magazine. They're silly and remind me of the days when the two most funny words to my son were, "Dirty Underwear!" The mere mention of underwear alone would send he and his friends into hysterical giggles. Those were the days! All the puns were submitted by Cub and Boy Scouts across the country. As I read the puns in the magazine, my mind automatically went to thinking about what brads would go with the jokes.
These tags are a result.

In this one I've use the Computer and Headphone Brad Set and the Paw Brads. Silver Glitter Enamel Dots are also used.

In the next tag, I've used the Ghost Brads and White Glitter Enamel Dots.

And in my final tag, I've used the Crab & Lobster Brads and the Shell Brads as well as Red Glitter Enamel Dots.

Thanks for stopping by today. Please visit the store for all your brads, washi tape, bling and paper flowers! Stop by next Sunday to see three more tags. It'll be a punny good time!

Happy Creating Everyone!

I'm often asked where I find inspiration for my projects.  Like many of you, Pinterest is a great source of inspiration, but as an avid Cricut user, quite often my best source of inspiration is browsing through the thousands of images the Cricut Design Space.  Each time I do I find cute images where an Eyelet Outlet brad can be substituted or added as a complement to a design.  Such was the case with this project.

Substituting the hearts on the original image with Eyelet Outlet heart brads of various sizes and adding the lap top (we have a cell phone brad that would have been equally perfect) adds dimension and interest to the card.

Thanks for stopping by and if you aren't following the Eyelet Outlet designers on Pinterest, I invite you to!

Back to School!

This seems like an especially significant Back to School season, so I (Lauren) thought I'd make a nice big slimline card with some of my favorite school-themed Eyelet Outlet Brads.

School Bus Brads are one of my all-time favorite designs, so I'm always excited to use one prominently. I've also added a Book Brad (in the colorful variant, rather than the more neutral; each pack has both), a laptop from the Computer and Headphones set, an Apple Brad and... mostly because they are the right color and size... some Mini Ladybug Brads

wishes you a happy

Online Dance Party!

What do you do when you have Eyelet Outlet's Computer Brads, Headphone Brads, Musical Note Brads, and a supply of Washi Tape?  Of course, it's an Online Dance Party!

Today's card is 2 of a 6 card series featuring Eyelet Outlet brads/washi and highlighting words (and/or things) that we have learned during this historical time.  Today's word is ZOOM.  I had not heard of Zoom, however, in recent weeks I experienced multiple medical appointments using ZOOM and it was great!

As you can see on the card, four youngsters have gathered on ZOOM to have a dance party.  They have their computers, headphones, and are ready to turn up the music and dance. Get ready for creating your online dance party by visiting the Eyelet Outlet site for brads, washi, and more.  Have some fun!

Happy Crafting!

You Make My World Go Round!

The Record Brads are just so much fun, they're hard to put down. Here's yet another one paired with the Headphone brad from the Computer and Headphone Brad Set. Having the option of the large and small records really makes them easy to use both as focal points and in sentiments. I used thin strips of Skinny Black Glitter Washi Tape over a background image that was free on the internet. A few Silver Glitter Enamel Dots and a bow on top of the two stacked tags "round" this one out. Get it? Round? Albums? Ha, ha! Ok. It must be late because I think I'm the only one laughing! Until next time....

It's Been a Long, Long Time...

...since I (Lauren) have made a scrapbook layout! But my niece Maddie turned sixteen last week, and since a party (or any other social activity) was obviously out of the question, my sister came up with the idea of compiling a surprise scrapbook. She sent blank pages, a few supplies and postage-paid return envelopes to family and friends, and got back unbelievably beautiful and touching results. I was surprised, not only how many ideas I had... but how many of my ideas involved Eyelet Outlet Brads! Here's maybe my favorite of the pages I made:

I love using brads as a frame on cards, but it turns out they're even cooler around a photo! I took this picture of Maddie and her Nana (who also happens to be my mom!) in 2004, when Maddie was one day old, and it is still a favorite. To surround it, I chose brads and bling that either had a baby theme, or were pink, or both. I've got Heart BradsTeddy BearsSafety PinsDucks, a Colorful Lady Bug, a ButterflyFlower JewelsHeart Pearls, and tiny Pearl Bling.

One of the great things about making a scrapbook for an older kid in the year 2020 is that they (and their parents) have their own social media feeds, full of pictures you know they like. So it's possible to do a bit of lurking and photo-stealing, to get shots you might not have thought to take! This beautiful selfie records the day that Madeline got her braces off. As soon as I saw that smile --and the white space above her head-- I started thinking "thought bubble". I used a combination of stickers and brads to make a little collage of a few happy things I thought she might be thinking about, like school, treats, the beach, etc. I scattered a Computer BradSpring BubbleSelfie BradLight BulbScissorsSun and some Mini Emotion Brads around my sticker sentiment, #Sixteen.

Whether you make layouts or cards, Eyelet Outlet has the perfect embellishments for all of your projects. Check out the huge selection of BradsBling, SequinsWashi Tape and more!

Timely ATCs

Here's a very Lauren-y story: I saw Taylored Expressions' set of funny Covid19 digital sentiments and especially loved the one about jeans. Eyelet Outlet make a fab set of Jeans and Tee Shirt Brads, so I decided to make a fast card combining them. As it turns out, I have EVERY color of Tee Shirt Brad, but... (can you see where this is going?!) ...not even one pair of jeans left! Argh! As it turned out, I did have brads that worked with three of the other sentiments, so the day was saved!

Before I talk about the ATCs I'll just mention that the sentiments are a free download from the Taylored Expressions Website, you just have to make a (FREE!) account, sign in, add the Big Grumpy Covid19 Sentiments to your cart, and check out. You'll get an email with a link to the download; easy-peasy, not even a credit card required! They're in a pdf format, which you can then print out on the paper or cardstock of your choice. My first ATC uses the "Stay Home" sentiment, which I printed on white cardstock and just trimmed down to fit in the patterned paper frame. I added a Computer and Headphones at opposite corners, and made my 2.5 x 3.5" Artist Trading Card based from patterned paper in coordinating colors... one piece even has little houses on it!

The "Messy House" sentiment seemed perfect to pair with our Vacuum and Broom Brads. This time I only framed up the brads, and set them above the sentiment, which I had printed on clear ink jet labels and stuck to this fun ledger-print paper. Again I found a sweet pattern of little houses, this time as a background.

I'm sort of excited about the third ATC, which uses the "Shampoo" sentiment, because I don't think I've ever before used the EO Brush and Hair Dryer Brads! But they really are just right for this. Again I put one at each corner, so that the sentiment takes center stage.

Thank you Taylored Expressions for the inspiration and the fun sentiments! And thank you Eyelet Outlet for literally having a brad for EVERY occasion!

is grateful to be safe at home
in a house FULL of art supplies!

True Story!

Continuing my theme of "where the ideas come from" this week I (Lauren) took inspiration from the awesome t-shirt my BFF was wearing the last time we got together. For one thing: this really is how I feel most of the time!!! For another, I knew I could make a super-fun card that used our Eyelet Outlet Computer and Headphone Brads. See?

The first thing I realized was that this sentiment was a bit long to stamp or use stickers. So I made a little piece of word art on the computer. It's much simpler than it sounds, you just type in your text and then have fun choosing a different font for each line. I've saved my version as a .jpg and you are welcome to use it; it'll be on the Freebies page.

Once I had my sentiment panel, I only needed to set the Computer and Headphone Brads, one at the top left corner, and the other at the bottom right. Then I matted the whole thing on a piece of fun patterned paper I made by neatly lining up strips of Math Washi Tape on a scrap of plain white cardstock. Et voila!

I hope you'll be inspired to create your own fun word art. And I bet there is a combination of Eyelet Outlet Brads and Washi Tape that will make it into a brilliant, unique card! ♥

You've Got a Virus!

If you've followed us for very long, then you know that Eyelet Outlet offers one of the biggest selection of brads on the internet.  It often tickles me which ones I end up pairing together for a project.  Last week it was the tiger brad and the playing cards, a seemingly unlike combo, and this week I'm pairing the stethoscope and the computer brad!

I turned to Cricut's "Dr. Check Up" cartridge to find the doctor and stretcher and in no time I'm ready with a cute get-well card the next time someone I love is under the weather.

Thanks for stopping in and come back soon!

Blue Screen of Death

I'm not sure how cats got a reputation of being aloof.  Our two are anything but!  Our oldest cat not only wants to be close by, she wants to be in the middle of whatever I'm doing at my craft table, so this card is obviously inspired by her!

Among the new spring brads recently released at Eyelet Outlet is this nifty computer brad. I added a small scrap of blue vinyl to the screen for this card.  Eyelet Outlet has several great cat and kitten brads.  This one is comes in a set of black and white cats in several different poses.

The desk is from Cricut's "Sentimentals" image set.  I used tiny 1/16th Eyelet Outlet round brads for the drawer pulls.  These tiny brads come in so handy in my card making.  They come in lots of colors, too, so stock up because you never know when they will the perfect touch of dimension to your project.

Thanks for being here today.  Check back often because you won't want to miss projects featuring the new spring brads by our talented team of designers!
