February PPP from Prima!

Hi everyone :)

Sorry for being so absent this month. My whole family has been sick for weeks and it's been a struggle to keep up. But I thought I would check in today with my February PPP sample for Prima. I hope you get a chance to join us this month!

"Be Happy"
I've used the Princess and Something Blue collections for this layout, which were perfectly dictated by this month's color palette:

Here's a closer look at some of the details and stunning new Prima products used on this layout:

I've used a couple of different masks in the background here: the Flourish mask as well as the new Floral Rose mask.

I've had a bunch of painted Natural Bark Hearts laying around for quite some time, and this project seemed like a good place to use one of them. I simply flipped the hearts over to their smooth side, painted with gesso, and then painted again with acrylic paint. Before the paint dried, I sprinkled on some clear sparkly embossing powder.

Prima: Free Spirit Collection {CHA Winter 2014}

Good morning!

I hope your new month is off to a good start. I'm happy to start my month here on my blog with a layout that I created for Prima for CHA, using the amazing "Free Spirit" Collection :)

I fell in love with Free Spirit the moment I laid eyes on it. The pretty pastels are right up my alley- and I could not wait to put it to good use! It was perfect for this whimsical photo of my daughter on her birthday :) The "Enlightened" paper with the images of the balloons was just what I needed to get this moment scrapped, and the coordinating stamps and embellishments made for a fun day of play!

Blue Fern Studios: January Projects Part II

I'm back again today with the second part of my Blue Fern Studios monthly project shares.

First up, another layout using the NEW Blue Fern Garden Paper Collection:

"Live Your Story"
I've taken the opportunity to show the masculine side of this collection with this layout. There are plenty of blues, greens, and browns in these papers which I've put to use here :)

I've added stamping and watercolors to bring the "Beaded Strings" piece to life.

Adding a darker pigment to the outside of the circles while dabbing away the middles helps add some dimension.

Secondly, I have a sweet and simple card to share:

"Dream"
I've used one of the sweet little "Petite Windows" pieces to give view to the pretty fairy beyond.

I first dabbed the edges of the window with a pale blue chalk ink and then used Glossy Accents and some white glittery embossing powder to create a frosted look over the rest of the window.

I'm so glad you stopped in today :)

And in case you haven't yet, I invite you to join us for our monthly sketch challenge. There are still a few days remaining and we'd LOVE to have you join us :)

Take care!

"Oh, Brother": NEW Prima CHA Winter 2014: Everyday Vintage

GOOD MORNING :)!

It's been a while, I know. And it's not for lack of things to share- I have some projects backed up that I haven't had the opportunity to get on here. But I have been suffering with strep throat for well over a week and it's been pretty debilitating.

Good news is- I'm on the mend :) So I'm back today with another Prima share, this time featuring the NEW Everyday Vintage Paintables :)

"Oh, Brother"
I've used the Paintables cards to add layers beneath my photo, some of them I've fussy cut the pretty intricate designs out of, and others I've torn and layered along the top left and bottom right of my layout.

I've added in some other new CHA goodies here as well: the paper and chipboard pieces are Stationer's Desk, and the canvas/burlap and gold rimmed flowers are new releases :)

I'm a sucker for anything black and white, so these paintables are right up my alley! I'm always looking for ways to add layers and interest to my projects, and these come in great sizes and patterns!

NEW Webster's Pages "Growing Up Girl" {Winter CHA 2014}

Good morning, my friends :)

Today I'm sharing with you a layout that I created for Webster's Pages, using their NEW "Growing Up Girl" collection, designed by the amazingly sweet Brandin O'Neill.

The day I received these papers was the same day we had a tragic incident at home where I lost all of my precious chickens. I needed to create a project for CHA and it was so difficult to do anything creative when I was so stricken. But let me tell you, working with this incredibly sweet collection was truly therapeutic. I took my time, fussy cutting away and thinking my thoughts, not really sure where I was going with it or if it would even turn out at all. But slowly, the scene came into place and I was able to create a layout of my very own little growing up girl :)

"Growing Up Girl" Layout
I am in love with the colors and motifs in this collection. So many fussy cutting opportunities, which is what I've always loved about Brandin's collections. She is a design diva, that's for sure! :)

I was able to layer and combine so many little details. I love a collection that gives you options :)

I had to add a touch of the gold thread I've been so obsessed with lately...

I loved combining the fabulous wardrobe motif with this photo of my daughter pulling some new clothes out of a gift bag. I might not be a girly girl, but she most certainly is- so this was fitting for her!

Prima: NEW Ingvild Bolme {Altered Frame} Winter CHA 2014

Here we are again with another Winter CHA 2014 release from Prima Marketing!

Ingvild Bolme has created a plethora of new goodies to play with. They are by far my most favorite embellishments of all, so I was delighted to see the variety of designs that Ingvild came out with this time around, and I'm sure you will agree ;).

The largest of her new designs comes in the form of a really cool frame which I got to alter. Here's a look!

"All the Details" Altered Frame
Being a huge fan of anything vintage and antique, I was so excited to find that this frame genuinely feels and appears vintage. So I wanted to leave the surface of the frame alone as it really was too perfect to mess with. So I set my sights on altering the inside and embellishing just a portion of the outside.

The silver flowers seen here are from the new release flowers. I'm loving metallics at the moment!

What's really nice about this frame is the back can be removed for embellishing. So when I went to cover the back with paper, I simply removed it from the frame, placed it on paper and traced around it. Cut and glue and you're done!

The railing and key are two of the many Ingvild Bolme designs offered in this release and the papers and embellishments are from the Free Spirit Collection :).

Two Projects for Blue Fern Studios

Good morning! I hope that your Christmas went well and that you're getting ready to welcome in a new year :). I'm stopping in today to share some classy Christmas cheer with you all, as well as a sweet and simple project too~ both for Blue Fern Studios!

"Let it Snow"
Blue Fern Studios has released some beautiful holiday themed chipboard pieces over the past month or so, as well as some wintry ones as well- simply perfect for this time of year! The "Let it Snow" set includes the title piece and snowflake you see here, as well as a tree and some additional snowflakes. A must-have!

For the frame I first primed with gesso before applying embossing ink. I then sprinkled on some sparkly white and gold embossing powders as well as some glitter and then setting with a heat gun. The snowflake was treated with white embossing powder and set. Finally, the title piece was stamped with chalk ink and sealed with some glossy accents.

Other Products Used:

Next I have a sweet and simple card for you!

"A Very Good Life"
I love the "Winter Page Dangles", and I have been envisioning creating a tall, narrow card with one for a while now. I wanted to make sure the chipboard piece was the focus, so I kept the rest of my card fairly simple.

I used a white chalk ink before adding embossing ink and glittery white embossing powder to my chipboard. It turned out sparkly and feminine which was perfect for my girly card!

"Princess Face": Prima Marketing Trend Watch

Hello again! I'm back today with a layout created for Prima Marketing, focusing on the gold/champagne trend we've been seeing :) I must say, I LOVE this trend and it was a true joy putting together this layout.

"Princess Face"
I'm well aware that this silly photo of my daughter does not exactly represent a lady-like princess. But when I asked her to give me her best "princess face", this is what I got. Gotta love her ;).

Champagne and gold colors go beautifully with pastel pink and blue, which is what I combined here on my layout. I'm in love with gold at the moment, and being able to sprinkle some gold glitter throughout was way too much fun.

To apply glitter to the flowers, I squeezed a drop of Glossy Accents onto my fingertip, sprinkled glitter on top, and then rubbed it along the flower petals. Worked like a charm!

Good morning! It's hard to believe that we're getting close to halfway through the month already...yikes! The holidays are coming, a new year, and for all of us scrapbookers, we know that January means NEW STUFF!! Winter CHA is right around the corner, and I couldn't be more excited! I know some really awesome people are going...sadly, I will not be :(. But I'm happy for those who get the chance to go and meet one another- a very special opportunity :)

This time of the year also means backstage CHA creating going on...it's about to get BUSY. So before I get too lost in the middle of it- let me share with you a layout that I created for Prima, focusing on glitter and sequins- both things I love very much :)!

"Oct 27"
I'm LOVING glitter right now- mess and all! And gold went perfectly with my color scheme here- a real treat to create this fun layout! I masked with gel medium and then sprinkled glitter on top to make it stick- it worked great :).

These beautiful Blue Fern Studios frames were dressed up with both gold glitter and gold microbeads. Glossy Accents are perfect for this :) I also used some floral wire cut from the Mini Sachet roses from Prima to create my photo frame.

Blue Fern Studios December Sketch Challenge

We've reached the very last sketch challenge for the year at Blue Fern Studios, and pretty soon we will be celebrating a first anniversary! I'm so proud to have been a part of this amazing, fast-growing company since its birth and look forward for the wonderful things to come :)

I played along this month, going against the grain of the sketch, flipping it to the right and doing a non-holiday layout. Here is where it took me:

"Cute Stuff"
Going back a little in time- to the summer of 2012. Me and my little guy Wyatt. My sister Kelly came up for a stretch this summer and we spent almost all of her time here at the lake nearby. Perfect weather, lots of crayfish catching and swimming. It was awesome :). Sitting here in piles of snow definitely makes me long for those days!

And here is this month's sketch:

As always, you can flip, turn, mirror this sketch to your liking. And it does not have to be holiday themed or even use the chipboards here. You do need to use at least one piece of Blue Fern Studios chipboard on your project, however. But which one(s)- totally up to you!

The "Tattered Diamond Bits" are some of my new faves from the latest release. They are AWESOME!
