The Colors of Fall

Welcoming the arrival of fall with autumnal colors.

The Colors of Fall
From masculine to autumnal to Halloween, there are endless card designs that you can create with this fabulously mysterious image.

The glowing backdrop was created by masking off the edges of a rectangular piece of white cardstock and applying various Memento inks with sponge daubers.  Tip/Hint: Stamping the image after the removal of the masks allows the image to extend beyond the color block and adds visual interest.

Some simple matting and an antique button finish the design.

Happy Fall,
Elizabeth

Supplies:
Penny Black:  It's Halloween 40-245
3M Scotch Dimensional Foam Tape

Ahoy, Matey!

After the image was colored and trimmed it was mounted to a circular card base which had been distressed with Memento inks.

A treasure trove of images!

Dropping You A Line

A high-tech note to be sent via snail mail…..

After partially trimming “Your Way”, it was elevated on a piece of white cardstock distressed with London Fog Memento ink.  A strip of a wood grain (Inspiring) stamped in Espresso Truffle Memento ink on Grand Canyon cardstock was added to the matted layers.

To mimic the tiny Post-its hanging from the computer screen, I created a large note with the sentiment from “Dropping You A Line”, a staple and a slightly crimped corner.

Thank you for visiting and all your notes…

A Little Boy's Airmail

It seems that all boys like to make paper airplanes.  I remember my brother making a few.  Some were traditional models and others were crazy designs that ended up soaring.

Those memories were the inspiration for my card today.

I created an assortment of embellishments from Penny Black’s transparent Airmail set and used the airplane from Keep In Touch to slip into the boy’s hand after I removed the flower bouquet.

I kept the cardstock layers in tones of browns and distressed them for a softer, antique look.  The Letter Background was stamped in Antique Linen.

I colored some pieces by water coloring and others with Copic markers.  Can you tell which is which?  My husband guessed correctly! (The answers are listed below with the products)

Your visits and comments are appreciated immensely!  Thank you so much for spending some of your time with me.

Friendship

Frogs and snails and puppy dog tails - that's what little boys are made of.....

Finished Size:  4" Square

All of the stamps used for this card are from Penny Black's new Touch of Whimsy catalog.

I “borrowed” the soccer ball from the hedgie stamp called “Game On” to add to this cute boy and his best friend.  To transform the ball from whimsical to well-loved, I scuffed it with Antique Linen ink.

I love the versatility of breaking sentiments up when stamping.  It allows me to use the remaining portion on the inside of the card or mix and match with other phrases.  Here a portion of the Friendship sentiment was used along with the Zen background on Mix & Match cardstocks.  To soften the pieces, I distressed them with inks.

The stitching was added with a black pen and there is dimensional foam between the base of the card and matted cardstocks and under the boy and ball.

Thank you for visiting,
Elizabeth

For My Sweetheart

This is something I made last year for my husband.  This gift bag has lots of room to hold goodies for Valentine's Day, Sweetest Day or Just Because.  (I can't show this year's surprise or he will see it.)

Published in Crafts 'n Things - February 2010
The bag was created from a box that held tea.  I opened up the container to form an instant pattern and traced it onto colored cardstock.  There is a magnet snap under the flap to hold the lid closed.

This sentiment says it all!
I used more masculine colors for the design, but couldn't help adding a few hearts colored with a Stardust Gelly Roll pen.

Thanks for taking peek,
Elizabeth
