21 May 2011 - Tortilla Wraps for dinner

Itchy to start wrapping after viewing this on YouTube.

Cooked the remaining crab sticks and bacon, 1 large portobello and 1 white button mushroom. Sadly, totally forgot about the cheese slices while wrapping the bacon version. Mom and Aunt seemed to like it. Managed to also clear some bread in the next serving, with similar filling.

Was making scrambled egg when Dad came home. He cooked some ham and sliced more tomatoes, and did not forget the cheese this time. Doesn't this look more plump and appetizing than the previous? In any case, he still can't get enough of the wrapping action, really enjoyed doing the wrapping and cutting the tortilla wrap into half.

07 Nov 2010 - homecooked stuff

stir-fried garlic sprouts with carrots and back bacon. bought it instead of streaky bacon such that they would have healthier meals. the very aroma of this dish wafted into someone's dream who then screamed "what's cooking?!" before falling into slumber again.

stir-fried kelp - her intent was probably to clear stock. too fishy a smell for him... but he ate it anyway

for something more nourishing - soup! bittergourd soup to be exact. he had wanted plain bittergourd soup, but she decided that she would get some pork bones for better flavour. you see carrots in here for the same reasons as the previous dish - to clear stock.

homecooked stuff for the past week

渔香肉丝 - sweet and sour pork slices with carrots, shallots and green bell pepper, however, not the type of sweet and sour pork we know so well

bacon and beans - just can't resist bacon

steamed eggplant topped with braised pork cubes - this time round they got small and round baby eggplants which tasted a little bitter...

stir-fried pork loin, spinach with bacon

has become a practice to sleep in during the weekends. however, it got out of hand today, woke up only at 3.30pm.

she prepared very late brunch, boiled some water, threw in the vermicelli, some soup base, some meatballs and a few stalks of spinach.

meatball vermicelli soup - bland start to the day, but grateful that it feels healthy.

and just a few hours later, it was time to prepare dinner. chopped up garlic, spinach and sliced the bacon. heated garlic in a few drops of oil before adding the bacon. once cooked, the spinach and 1/4 cup of water were added. threw in a pinch of salt and some seasoning, upped to medium heat, and stirred vigourously before serving.

spinach with bacon - spinach still crunchy and the bacon added extra oomph.

chopped some ginger, yellow onion, and sliced 3 pork loins. she then proceeded to mix one of her self-created marinades. this day, she removed the top of the shell and extracted the egg white only. the other ingredients were oyster sauce, flour, salt, sugar, pepper, he cannot remember what else. cooked the pork loin before adding the sauce she created.

stir fried pork loin - savoury, but a bit too salty to eat without staple. otherwise, very yummy.

lime chicken, mushroom soup, meatball vermicelli

she woke up slightly earlier than him to prepare breakfast of vermicelli soup with "flowered" meat balls and vegetable (not too sure of the name). he had a hasty breakfast before going to work.

next up, dinner. he bought full cream milk, bacon, chicken breast, etc, as requested by her.

the first thing she made was mushroom soup with bacon bits. sounds yummy, doesn't it?
thinly sliced the bacon and fried them till brown. mashed up a steamed potato, diced some mushrooms and onions. heated onions in some butter until fragrant before putting in the mashed potato and mushrooms. next, milk was poured until it just covered the ingredients. bacon bits were added as preferred.

stir-fried beans with dried shrimp. you've seen this before, heat garlic and dried shrimps in oil until fragrant before adding the vegetable into the fray.

sesame lime chicken. this was a very troublesome dish. had to fry the batter-coated chicken a few at a time, after which the wok had to be washed and cook the lime mixture with the chicken until it was gluey enough. the extent of work made him feel quite tired, the wife however remained energetic. haha..
