Serious Last Minute T-Day Craft

If you haven't made a centerpiece for your Thanksgiving table yet-don't worry! These took me about 15 minutes to make(including the spray paint drying) and they are really pretty and simple.

Supplies: round styrofoam ball about the size of a cantelope, 2 bunches of fake floral (Hobby Lobby 80% off!), wire cutters or strong scissors and acrylic or spray paint preferably in green.

Tutorial:
Cut your Styrofoam ball in half

Spray paint or paint green to camouflage the ball a bit.

Cut your flowers off the main stem and stick into the ball. This takes about 2 minutes. Just make sure you keep them close so you can't see through the bunch. Also, I saved all the leaves to trim around the bottom of the ball and for filler.

*sorry the lighting is so bad in this pic, our camera will make things yellow sometimes-ugh, I hate it*
BAM! Final product. I found that plate at a thrift store. I was going to use it to serve but thought this was cuter. Used vinyl and my Silhouette-thanks Silhouette!
Here's my second one. I actually got this idea from the TV show 'One Tree Hill'. Ha. They had these with peachy roses and placed them on a cake stand like this. Cute huh? Tried to find fake roses but they didn't have any(cheap) so I settled with the fall florals. I really like how they turned out and will probably use (and modify) for years to come.
Very cheap and simple!

Have a WonDerFUl Thanksgiving!

*Okay, side story about this table clothe. I bought just one at the time and then realized I needed 2. So I went to 3 different Kohl's to find it and at the last stop, I'm frantically searching......! I was looking in this one section and then went to another and wasn't paying attention much and didn't notice the lady next to me until I see she is holding the exact table clothe I needed-the LAST matching one! I secretly followed here around for a bit seeing if she would set it down but she never did---talk about luck! If I had just been there 5 minutes earlier I might have got it!!! AH! Why must I be so type-a?*

Tangerine Fall Decor

Here is a quick and easy little decor idea. I found the glass globe at a thrift store (best place for stuff like that) and the bottom is actually a candlestick that was this nasty forest green color. I spray painted that and then hot glued the globe to the top of the candlestick. Then I added some tangerines, little wicker balls and acorns to the globe. I love this thing because I can change it out whenever I want.

Easy peasy. PS. That print that is in the frame there (I change this out a bit too) is from this blog, it was free last week. Sorry should have told you guys. But she does have some more cute prints here on her Etsy shop-really cute stuff.

Leaf Luminary

I got this idea from Martha Stewart's magazine--her most recent one.
It is sooo easy and took me about 5 minutes to do.
Below is the supplies needed: glass container (got mine at the $1 store), spray adhesive (a crafter' must have) and some fresh fall leaves.

How to: Spray the back of the leaves with the adhesive on a paper towel and apply to the glass just so a little bit of the bottom is hanging. Overlap the leaves if you like. Trim the bottom. And...that's it. Place a candle inside and you are good to go!

Soooooo easy peasy!
Happy Fall!
*Yes, its still Fall---Christmas is still 2 months away, so don't get too excited yet.*

Sew Saturday: Throw Pillows

This week, I put together some pillows I've always wanted to make. I have some other projects lined up, like a massive Christmas quilt, but I have no motivation to start. So... I procrastinate spend my time making other things. Like pillows.

I found the tutorial for this one at one of my favorite quilting blogs, Cluck Cluck Sew. I have a lot of fabric scraps left over from my quilts, so this was a great way to use them. I bought the muslin at Wal-Mart.

Just iron on the leaves how you want and sew around the edges. Really easy after you master pivoting around the corners.

And, the envelope back. Zippers scare me, so this is the perfect solution.

I found inspiration for this one here. I wish I had more of a variety of vintage buttons, but I still like it. I printed out the "S" from my computer in the font I liked, then just traced it onto the front panel of the pillow with wash out marker.

I attached the buttons using thread and an embroidery hoop. Make sure these are on nice and tight, especially if you have little ones around. Something I learned as I went was to not make individual knots for each button, just keep sewing until you run out of thread.

Once your buttons are attached, you can sew the panel to the back piece.

So that's it. They come together really quickly, and you can take them off too. I'm planning on making more tree slip covers for the larger pillow, then switching it seasonally.

TP Pumpkin

Yep, you guessed it. There's a roll of toilet paper inside this cute little pumpkin! This is the easiest craft ever and if you have fabric scraps laying around and some extra toilet paper...you have a free craft that you can do it like 30 seconds (no joke). Found this idea at a craft store in the Amish Country in Ohio--gotta love it.

Place the roll of TP in the middle of your fabric. The fabric can be square or circle cut.

Tuck the fabric into the hole. Roll up a 2 inch long strip of brown or green colored fabric and stick in the top.

And voila...cutest thing ever and plus, you can use the TP when your sick of 'em!

Fall Burlap Rosette Acorn Wreath (Phew!)

First off, let me just say that I love, love, love all your posts! I'm in complete awe at everyone's creativity and love to see each unique style that we all have. Its great! Don't you agree? Thanks for posting...and keep it up!

Ok, here's the wreath...I got the idea from a few blogs: Along for the Ride and A Little Lovely. I took their idea and kinda made it my own. I added the burlap, leaves and made the rosettes out of felt (ok, how the heck do you spell felt? Is it Felt or Velt?) You can find the tutorials on how to make this, including the rosettes, on their blog. PS. These are 2 of my favorite craft blogs, so check them out! Its super simple, took about 35-ish minutes and it cost me about $5--I got the wreath and leaves at the dollar store, burlap was half off, and I had the felt. Oh...and had leftover acorns from the jog that one morning.

Autumn Hoop

Here is a simple, cute and cheap fall decoration for ya (and just so you know...we bought our first house and have NO DECOR at all, that explains all the crazy fall crafting lately. PS. I also love fall like no other). I have seen "hoop" decor all over the blog craft world. So I made up my own little ditty with some stuff I had laying around...plus a quick trip my second home, Hobby Lobby (you know you've been there too much when the cashier says to you, "Oh...you again." Nice).

Supplies: cross-stitch hoop of any size, felt in the desired colors, cross-stitch thread, thicker needle, glue gun.

Cut your felt out and place it in the cross-stitch hoop---tight. To get the leaf shape I got a leaf from my yard and pinned it to the felt and cut around it. It actually turned out better than expected. Then I hot glued it to the felt ....

Then I roughly stitched around the edges of the leaf and then (um, you can totally tell) handstitched the word "autumn" around the leaf.

This took me about an hour to do and cost about $4. Be creative and make up your own design...I thought of doing a pumpkin with "harvest" written somewhere and I'm working on a bigger one for Halloween with a tree and "spooky" written. Have fun!
PS. Another gift for Mom...surprise!
