Strawberries

For $0.98 a pound I bought 40 lbs of these beauties. I made jam and froze the rest for smoothies.

Rio Dance Recital

Allie had her dance recital last Thursday and the theme was Rio. Her group had 4 girls in it and they learned 3 dances. I thought she would freeze when she saw all the people there but she got into it and had an awesome time. All night she kept saying, "This is the best day ever! I love dance recitaling!"
Her dance and church friends. Grace, Abby and Lilia
 Katelyn loved watching!
 Strike a pose!
Is she really getting this old?
Dad brought her a rose :)
Love my girl! Was so proud of her!

5K Race for the Cure

A 5K has always been on my bucket list...not sure why but oh well. When we moved to Boise I started going to the gym and trying to get in shape. It's been 2 years since we moved here and I felt like I might be able to run and not die. So run I did with some wonderful ladies in my ward. My goal was to run and NOT stop to walk. I did it folks. I can see how races can be addicting.....
Suzy, Mar, Mallory, Marie and Liz. Love you gals!!
After the race...in shock that I really did it!

Mom

I'm grateful to be a mom. It is now something that defines me. The most challenging of times which also bring the most joyous times. I love my kids. This is what we do a lot of the time. They love to watch and help me cook {and I know these days will be gone soon, so even when they are not "helpful" I still love it}.
This is Allie and I on Mother's Day. Katelyn didn't want to be held...she was pretty sad but that's how kids can be. I love them just the same! They treated me to breakfast in bed but saw I was still sleeping so instead, let me sleep in and breakfast was ready when I woke up and went downstairs. Doug cleaned up too. I think I will keep them all :)

Our momma's that we love so much. Truly wonderful and amazing women who I respect and admire to the fullest. Love you both!

Katelyn's First Dentist Visit

Katelyn's teeth came in very late {you may remember me worrying about this A.LOT}. By late I mean her first tooth made its debut at 18 months. Now she has 6 teeth. She was so good at the dentist. She actually sat, opened her mouth and let him check things out. The chair was her favorite...up and down!! I was very proud of her! On a totally unrelated note...she will be 2 next month. That is crazy talk!

Allie had her visit too. Still doing well...no cavities {this cannot be my child}!

Allie the Builder

Every now and then Doug takes Allie to the Home Depot on their First Saturday workshops. This month was a planter box. She chose to paint it pink and yellow and then had a meltdown because she wanted it pink and purple. Oh dear!!

Cinco de Mayo

We had a Cinco de Mayo party mainly just to have an excuse for a party and amazingly good & healthy Mexican food. I mean we really had some awesome food and company! I went ahead and made a pinata since I'm too cheap to buy one and the kids loved it. They each got to swing 2 times and it broke on the last two kids. I thought it would break at the first hit! Not too shabby!

Kickin' Kids

Allie played soccer for the first time on Saturday! She's on the maroon team with her friend, Faith. It was freezing but they got out there and followed that soccer ball around to get warm! It's pretty darn cute to watch all of them chase that ball. Allie even scored a goal! She was a big fan of the drink and snacks at the end.
When she woke up from her nap she told me, "Mom, I'm so sad I didn't win."
To which I gave her the, "You had fun and tried so hard so of course you won" speech.
"But I didn't get a trophy!" Haha.
Here she is scoring her goal!! Go Allie :)

Allie with her friend Faith. Faith was pretty unsure of it to start with and wouldn't look at any of us. She quickly changed once the game started!!
#9!

Healthy Eaters

We just got home from a preschool field trip at Albertsons.
To my teacher friends: Albertsons does a free healthy living tour for Preschool thru 4th grade classes.

We learned about "Always Foods" and "Sometimes Foods" and we sampled something from every food group and talked about how they help us be healthy. At the end each kiddo got a reusable tote bag filled with bananas and water bottles, granola bars and coupons for mom :) And best of all a Healthy Kids Club card which lets them get a free apple or banana every time they got to Albertsons! It was our best field trip all year (in my opinion)!
Pineapple=Always Food
Talking about the colors of produce and what parts of the body they are good for!
Produce samples...Kiwi and Blueberries
Dairy sample...Chocolate Soymilk (they thought it was very cool that it came from a bean)
Talking about their favorite cereals. Allie chose Lucky Charms of course to which she quickly said..."It's a Somtimes Food though." Good girl!
Grain sample...Oatmeal Squares
Meat and Fish. One of the boys said, "I've never seen a cow cut up. That's so sad for him." We were laughing at that one!
They got to feel scallops, mussels, and a crab. The worker even brought out a frozen Talapia for the kids to see. No samples here...so we went over to the deli and had turkey cheese roll-ups!
You would think she was making this face about the crab. Nope, it's for the bread. Silly girl!
Seriously contemplating whether or not the bread would be a good choice. Nope, mom got to eat it!
Posing with her recycleable bag.
Such a fun trip!!
