Alison says: I love designer lines . . . they add so much to a page. I used to do them the hard way, by choosing a hard tipped brush and selecting four points on my canvas while holding the shift key down to create straight lines. Using the grid was essential in making sure everything was lined up. It could also be done by making a text rectangle the same color as your background and stroking it with a different color. That way is more limiting though because you have to have the rectangle layer on the bottom so it won't cover your photos. Today my mom called me and told me a different and even easier way to make designer lines. I am so excited! Here's how you do it. Make a new layer and click on the marquee tool. Make a box with the marquee tool then choose edit & stroke outline selection, and choose a size (try 5 first) and a color. A designer line will be created! Press ctrl+d to deselect. You can do what you want with the lines . . . take the opacity down, move them, cut out a section of it, whatever. You can also use the elliptical marquee tool to make round or oval designer lines. So easy! Thanks mom!
This scrapbook page made by Ann features a designer line. Note the word art too. |
