Forest Friends Thanks - Stampin' Up! Happier Than Happy

I'm joining in the fun over at Freshly Made Sketches today with their fun layout using circles! I knew what I wanted to do with this sketch as soon as I saw it.  It took me longer to figure out what DSP to use in the background than anything!

I kept the colors muted and neutral for the whole woodland theme. The card base is Pear Pizzazz, then a layer of Happy Forest Friends DSP, then the layer of Basic White with the holes die cut.

I stamped the animals, die cut and trimmed the bear to fit then popped them up with dimensionals in the holes.  The sentiment is stamped on Mossy Meadow, embossed in white and then cut out with the sweet tag die in the Happy Forest dies. Some linen thread to finish off the tag as well as a few retired candy dots in Crumb Cake in the corners keeps the embellishments to minimum.

What a fun sketch!  Maybe if I have time I'll try it again with a totally different take.

Thanks for looking!  Did you stamp today?

Happier Hello Fox - Stampin' Up! Happier Than Happy

My card today is one in which I combined two challenges and the end result might be a case of too much for it's own good!  lol! But I'll let you be the judge of that! I used the Global Design Project colors and the Just Add Ink choose two challenge.

The JAI challenge of just choose two the choices are heat embossing, stenciling and texture paste.  I chose stenciling with the colors stenciled on the edge of the Basic White panel and the sentiment is heat embossed.  Not sure if they were looking for more embossing but I tried a bunch of different things and none of them worked (see what I mean about maybe less is more??!).

I used the new Happier Than Happy stamp set to create the little scene in the circle.  I stamped the mushroom along the bottom of a Pale Papaya Stylish Shapes circle in Pale Papaya, stamped one tree in Pool Party and then cut another out of the same cardstock.   The fox is stamped in Calypso Coral and popped up over the other elements.

The circle is popped on the card front over a narrow strip of Butterfly Kisses DSP and I added a few retired sequins and retired candy dots to accent the sides.

This card was definitely a challenge but one that I think I made harder on myself than it needed to be!  It just goes like that sometimes doesn't it?

Baby Card Two Ways - Stampin' Up! Biggest Wish

I haven't had a baby stamp set in quite some time but every once in a while I do need a baby card and because I'm a resourceful stamper (lol!) I can always make a card for the occasion.  I designed today's card for my last Quick & Easy card class and made it so the stamper could choose pink or blue or do a mix for a gender neutral card.

I focused on the larger 'hello' stamp from Biggest Wish and paired with the smaller 'hello baby' stamp from Happy & Heartfelt.  A fun black & white DSP from the Pattern Party pack gives a nice neutral to work with.

I used Polished Pink and Balmy Blue for the accent colors and the Sweet Hearts dies for the tag and little heart.  The heart stamp is found in the Sweet Conversations stamp set.

Baby Boy in Blue - Stampin' Up! Rainbow of Happiness

As I was going through my card stash I realized that I had a few baby girl cards but none for baby boys. Can't leave the boys out of the card receiving! And it's perfect timing with the latest CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge which is a gorgeous palette of Night of Navy, Balmy Blue and So Saffron.  I'm guest designing this month so I got to see the colors early!

Since it's a clean and simple challenge I kept it very crisp with a lot of open white space and showed off this great color combination.

A crisp rainbow in the challenge colors with a little bit of texture from an embossing folder in the background, a cloud punch to soften the lines a bit and minimal embellishments and this card is complete.

I hope you'll play along with the CAS Colours & Sketches crew and share your creation in the gallery!

Baby Girl Rainbow - Stampin' Up! Brilliant Rainbow Dies

I needed a congratulations card for a friend who just announced she's pregnant with a baby girl!  So fun and exciting and of course it deserves recognition with a cute card even though we've already blown up the friend text thread with love.

The CAS Colours & Sketches challenge has a fun color combo that works perfectly for a little rainbow up in the clouds!  Highland Heather, Poppy Parade and Petal Pink.

The dies do all the hard work for this card.  I used the Basic Borders dies to make the cloud layers; just cutting the edge off 3 different widths of Basic White cardstock and then layering them with dimensional on the Petal Pink base.

The rainbow was cut with the new Brilliant Rainbow dies using the 3 challenge colors and tucking the ends under the bottom cloud layer.

I added a fork bow made with white crinkled seam binding ribbon.  Check out my YouTube video HERE to learn how to make a fork bow!  It's so easy!

The final thing on this card is actually the only stamping!  I used the new sentiment set; Happy & Heartfelt to add the congratulation in Memento black ink.

Baby Love - Stampin' Up! Kangaroo & Company

It's not hard creating a cute card with the Kangaroo & Company stamp set.  I keep reaching for it lately and I hope you aren't tired of seeing it!  Today I used it for the The Card Concept challenge.  I really liked the colors in their inspiration photo and a baby card seemed like a good reason to stamp!  I went for a clean and layered look this time.

This one starts off with a Coastal Cabana base and I stamped the polka dots in Whisper White craft ink.  The circle stamp is actually from the extra rubber in the Snailed It stamp set.  Inside the word bubble is cut out and I saved it just for this purpose.

Next I embossed a strip of Pumpkin Pie with the Subtle embossing folder.  On top of that is a vellum square and then a Bermuda Bay scallop square.  The whole square panel is popped on dimensionals.

Both kangaroos are stamped in Memento black and then colored in with Stampin' Blends.  I used Ivory for the ears and dark Cinnamon Cider for the larger on and light Cinnamon Cider for the little guy.

The sentiment is stamped in Pumpkin Pie and die cut with the Stitched Shapes dies.  I added a few Coastal Cabana hearts to fill in some of the open space and bring some of the Coastal Cabana color up front.  The circle is popped on dimensionals.

A Bermuda Bay enamel heart and Whisper White baker's twine are the final touches for this sweet baby card.

Baby Girl 'Roo - Stampin' Up! Kangaroo & Company

I'm joining in the Just Add Ink challenge which has a theme of family this time.  I have a family member who is getting ready to welcome another baby to the family so I wanted to get a head start on having a card ready to celebrate.  This was a perfectly timed challenge for me!

Isn't that little baby 'roo in the mama's pouch just so cute??  This was a fun card to put together to make it a little girlie without being too over the top.

I started with a Crumb Cake base then a layer of the Sale-a-Bration Paper Blooms DSP.  For a little bit of a different look I offset it to the upper right.  Next I added a strip of Rococo Rose Scalloped ribbon.

A Night of Navy square anchors the focal panel. For the gingham panel I first used the Stitched with Whimsy dies on it and then trimmed the excess off from around the stitching.

Next are the kangaroos.  I stamped both in Memento black and then colored them with Crumb Cake Blends.  Both ears are light Rococo Rose and the bellies are Ivory.  After die cutting them I added some little eyelashes to the baby with a Stampin' Write marker as well as a Blushing Bride (close match to the Rococo Rose) baker's twine bow.  They are then popped on dimensionals.

For the sentiment I stamped off a Rococo Rose flower from Pretty Perennials and then added the sentiment from the Kangaroo & Company set in Night of Navy and die cut it with the Tasteful Labels dies.  It's popped with dimensionals and embellished with a faceted Rococo Rose gem.

Hello Baby - Stampin' Up! Cute Fruit

Are you looking at this baby card and wondering where the heck the Cute Fruit stamp set is here??  I didn't have any overt new baby images or stamp sets so I used the little circle/starburst as well as the open circle for my heat embossed backgrounds.  I thought it was a unique way to use some of the basic shapes in that set and not just have the focus on the fruit.

I used the CAS(e) This Sketch challenge for the layout and Daring Cardmakers challenge of 'Oh Baby!'  I didn't have any baby cards in my stash and figured it would be good to stock it just in case and it was also a nice change from fall and Christmas cards.

I started with a Gray Granite card base and embossed the open circle in white.  Next I embossed a narrow strip of Petal Pink embossed with the Dainty Diamonds embossing folder.  Under that is a piece of Purple Posy cardstock with the little starburst image embossed in clear embossing powder.

Down the side I cut the 'baby' with the Playful Alphabet dies in Whisper White cardstock and Foam Adhesive Sheets for a nice popped up look.  Before adhering the foam and cardstock I embossed the cardstock with the Subtle embossing folder.

I stamped the 'hello' from To A Wild Rose in Highland Heather and cut the flag with Tasteful Label dies and popped that to the side.  I pulled in a bit more of the Petal Pink color with a retired sequin topped with a rhinestone.

Bunny Koala? - Stampin' Up! Bonanza Buddies

Quarantine or not things always get started later for our family on Saturdays!  I usually don't blog on the weekends but with all that's happening and having so much extra time in my stamp room I have plenty of projects to share these days.  And since I've been doing mostly challenges I want to get them posted before the challenge ends. BC (Before Covid) I would do a lot of challenges but never was able to get them photographed and posted in time.  So I feel that I am doing ok on being consistent in these uncertain times!

My card today is a color challenge over at Color Throwdown.  They use generic color shades so I used kraft, Blushing Bride, Petal Pink, Pear Pizzazz, Smoky Slate and Basic Gray for my project.

This is a variation of my Bunny Pig card from last week.  I was just so tickled at the little bunny ears with the daisy punch that when I saw the colors for this challenge I figured I could do a koala with bunny ears also.  I used a lot of different supplies for this card and really enjoyed using some older dies as well as the retired Kraft paper that SU carried a few years ago to complete my little Easter scene.

First the background is the Breathtaking Bouquet stamp from the Mini catalog.  I stamped it in Versamark and then embossed it with clear embossing powder.  It's a really cool look and adds some nice subtle texture.

The egg die cut is from the Dino dies.  I cut 2 halves and lightly sponged the edges with Smoky Slate for definition. A Pear Pizzazz shimmer ribbon knot decorates the side of the egg.  The flower stem and blossoms are cut with the Bouquet Bunch dies.  The flower centers all have a small adhesive pearl.

The koala body is stamped in Smoky Slate and his face is Basic Gray.  The nose has a layer of Clear Wink of Stella for some shimmer.  The bunny ears are punched with the Daisy punch out of retired White Velvet paper and Blushing Bride ink and a blender pen are used to color the insides.

The more I'm doing Easter cards with non-Easter stamp sets the more I think next year I'm going to have to get a real Easter set so as not to run out of ideas!

Bunny Pig? - Stampin' Up! This Little Piggy

In keeping with our family's idea of trying to keep things as normal as we can we did what we normally do on Saturdays which is sleep in a bit, have a yummy breakfast (waffles today!) and laze about not doing much of anything.  We all took a walk to the nearby park and stretched our legs and waved from a far at others doing the same thing.  Now we're puttering about the house doing this and that.  Aggie and I are sitting on the front porch watching the neighborhood go by. It's not such a bad thing not to have places to go or people to see these days!

My card to day is a bit of a goofy one as I wanted to participate in the Color Throwdown challenge which is to use purple, pink and white for a card.  I couldn't get the thought of Easter out of my head with those colors so I sat down to see what I could come up with.  I have exactly zero Easter stamps if you take away the generic flowers in my collection.  And the only Easter greeting I had is the tiny one in Itty Bitty Greetings.  What to do? What to do?

I saw a cute card a few days back somewhere, Facebook? Pinterest? Challenge gallery? and they used the Daisy punch to make bunny ears for some punch art bunnies.  So smart and clever!  But I didn't want to case that exactly so I thought maybe another animal wearing bunny ears would work instead.  This Little Piggy was perfect!

I stamped the pig in Memento black and colored him/her? in with Stampin' Blends.  It's a simple image to fussy cut so I got that finished then added the ears which were punched from retired White Velvet paper from a few Christmases ago.  The bunny tail is an Assorted Pompom from the current mini catalog.  I adhered with dimensionals the Bunny Pig onto a Highland Heather Stitched circle. Voila! Bunny Pig!

The rest of the card is very basic with a Highland Heather base, then a Whisper White stitched rectangle and a piece of retired Gingham Gala DSP (my last full piece!).  The sentiment from the long retired And Many More set is stamped in Highland Heather ink and colored in with the Petal Pink marker.  It's perfect for this card don't you think.  Maybe I should have added an oink oink too!  I added a pink ribbon knot that I found in my ribbon scrap bin to finish off the embellishments.

Always remember punch art if you're stuck for needing an image you don't have a stamp for!  You never know what inspiration it will spark!

Checking In Owls - Stampin' Up! Check You Out

I hope everyone had a good weekend in spite of social distancing and staying safe at home.  I can't say I was terribly productive in doing anything but feeding my family and stamping.  But right now that's enough for me.

For my card today I joined in on The Card Concept challenge which is "Woodland Nursery" and has an adorable inspiration graphic (see the end of my post).  This one actually took a bit of thinking because while I currently have a lot of animal stamps not many of the could be considered woodland animals.  I mostly have zoo, farm and extinct animals so cute little forest animals are few and far between.  Luckily I think the owl from the Check You Out set fits the theme.

The background piece of Soft Sea Foam is embossed with the Tufted embossing folder and then topped with a tilted piece of retired Coffee Break DSP with a cool woodgrain pattern.  The sentiment is embossed in white in the lower corner.

The owls are stamped in Soft Suede and the glasses and backing circles are Balmy Blue, Soft Sea Foam and Flirty Flamingo. I dug through my ribbon scraps and found matching pieces for each owl.  I gave myself a little pat on the back for using the retired paper and ribbon scraps.  Now I can buy new stuff right?  That's how this all works isn't it??

The owl panels are all popped on the card front to finish this Woodland themed card up.

Baby Koala - Stampin' Up! Bonanza Buddies

I've only got a few minutes to share today.  The boys have the day off (again!) and I'm trying to work around them to get ready for stamp club tomorrow.  I never thought there would still be so much managing with middle schoolers.

I won't go on an on about this card because it's pretty basic.  The Bonanza Buddies set is super cute for all kinds of light-hearted card needs.  The animals are adorable and mixing and matching sentiments from other sets really expands the possibilities beyond birthdays.

Bold Sweet Baby - Stampin' Up! Dino Days

Happy Friday stampers!  Are you all geared up for the weekend?  Do you have pumpkin picking in your plans?  Or maybe some football tailgating?  Raking leaves?  Well whatever you have on your agenda don't forget to add in some stamping time so you can play along with us at Fab Friday with this fun color challenge!

Now this color combo is a bit of a blast from the past isn't it?  Pumpkin Pie and Melon Mambo have been staples in the Stampin' Up! color collection for many years and I have to admit that I probably haven't used either one in a quite a while so I had to think a bit when starting out my card.  I don't have many fall sets that this combo would work with so I went to my "cards that I need to make" list for a starting point.  I needed a baby girl card so I went with that theme.  Next roadblock is that I really don't have any current baby sets so I pulled one of the only stamp sets that could work with the colors and the theme; Dino Days.

It's not always pastels and bunnies when it comes to babies so I like to do something different and more bold when I can.  Babies like bold and bright patterns after all!

I started with the geometric background after being inspired by this card that I came across on Pinterest which originally came from Instagram.  I just used my 2 main colors but kept the cool alternating triangles.  It took a bit to get the sizing right and I still had to trim a bit off one side (I guess I'm not a good measurer? Or more likely my math is suspect!).  I used some scrap copy paper to get generally the right size so I would suggest that as a good starting point.

Once I had my background pieces cut to size I embossed them with the Subtle embossing folder.  I built the rest of my card up from that with pops of Basic Black and a bit of sparkle with the new (in the Annual catalog) Shimmer Black embossing powder.  I used it on the dino spikes as well as the little sentiment.

A bit more sparkle on the dino spots comes from Wink of Stella and doesn't show well in the photo.  I finished off this sweet but bold baby card with a little black baker's twine bow and some Melon Mambo retired enamel shapes.

I hope you're inspired with these colors and will play along with the team at Fab Friday

Just Hatched Baby Boy- Stampin' Up! Dino Days

I don't need as many baby cards as I used to so it's kind of fun to get stamping with a wee one in mind.  A friend of ours and his wife just had their first child so we sent up a little gift along with a card.  I couldn't resist using the Dino Days stamp set for a sweet baby boy card.

This is another card that I pulled my color inspiration straight from the Dinoroar DSP.    The card base is Mango Melody and then I cut a Stitched Rectangle frame in Whisper White, embossed it with the Subtle embossing folder and backed it with a layer of Dinoroar DSP.  I added some retired candy dots in "close enough" colors to opposite corners.

The dino is stamped in Pretty Peacock with Mango Melody spikes.  I have him popping out of a Pool Party egg embossed with white accents and sentiment.  I sponged a bit of Pretty Peacock ink around the embossed bits to make them stand out a bit and give the egg some depth.

Sweet Baby Birds - Stampin' Up! Hey Love

Happy Monday everyone!  I hope that the weekend was good to you and you had some stamping time!  I stamped some extra card kits from my class last week and now I need to remember to take photos so I can share them.  I do have a card to share today though even if I did make it a few weeks ago.

I don't need too many baby cards these days but it's always nice to have one or 2 in the card stash just in case.  The little bird in the Hey Love stamp set in the Occasions catalog is small but oh so sweet!  So if one bird is sweet then three is even better!  Don't overlook this set just because Valentines day is over.  It's a super set for all kinds of cards.

I went with a baby boy color combo and used the Tailored Tag punch to created the background for the bird circles.  The birds are stamped with Gray Granite and colored in with light Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends and then the hearts are colored with the regular markers.

The sentiment is in the Itty Bitty Greetings set and is stamped in Night of Navy.  The baker's twine bow across the middle is also Night of Navy.

Gorilla Love - Stampin' Up! Hey Love

If this dreary weather doesn't clear out soon I won't have any more projects to share with you for a while!  I have a stack of cards in my stamp room ready to be photographed but the dark rainy days we've been having are not conducive to taking card pics!  So fingers crossed for some sunshine or at least some brightening.

I hope you're not sick of seeing the Hey Love stamp set because I am still loving these sweet animals!  Today's card is less of a Valentine's Day and more of a hello, thinking about you card.  It could even be a sweet baby card with a quick change of the sentiment on the tab.  Don't get trapped into thinking a stamp set is just for one purpose based on it's name or even the samples in the catalog.  Swap out some sentiments and you've got a whole new set of card ideas.

The card base is Smoky Slate and another Smoky Slate panel embossed with the Dot to Dot embossing folder.

The sweet gorilla is stamped in Memento black and colored with Smoky Slate and Petal Pink Stampin' Blends.  Once colored I cut him out with a Stitched Shapes square and layered it a panel of Petal Pink and Coastal Cabana.

The tab is punched with the circle tab punch and then topped with a stamped heart and hello sentiment with the Tabs for Everything set.  I added an adhesive sequin for a little something extra.

Fresh Elephants - Stampin' Up! Tabs for Everything

I'm a few hours later than normal getting my post up today.  I had to be out of the house, as in dressed and presentable in public, much earlier than normal and there just wasn't a way to get both my morning walk in and my blog post written so I did the walk since it's going to be hot here today.  Better to get the exercise out of the way before the temperature gets up to 90!

As soon the I got the new In Colors I started playing with color combinations and I am pleased to say that this group is pretty easy to work into rotation with colors from the regular collection.

Don't overlook this fun new stamp set in the catalog; Tabs for Everything.  There are lots of words to create short sentiments and the itty bitty images are so cute.  Since they are small you'll want to make sure to do a layout where the little images aren't lost or keep it really CAS so they stand out.  Pair it up with the coordinating Circle Tab punch and you've got yourself a great set for many occasions.

I used the sweet elephants on this card in the fresh colors of Powder Pink, Berry Burst and Lemon Lime Twist and outlined with Smoky Slate.  I kept the layout simple and used circle punches to give the elephants a bit more weight. A bit of texture from a square embossed with the Dynanic Hexagons folder.

I thought the elephants in these colors would be cute for a baby girl card so I stamped the "you're adorable" senitment in Basic Gray.

My circle tab punch is in the mail so I'm looking forward to playing with that  and Tabs for Everything stamp set to make more fun designs.

Swirly Sailboat Graduation - Stampin' Up! Swirly Bird

It's that time of year where students are moving on to the next level of education or have finished and are heading out into the world to begin their careers.  Of course us stampers need to mark these milestones with cute cards of congratulations and encouragement!  I designed this card for my stampers to make last week at my May stamp club.

I thought the sail boat was an appropriate image for a graduate heading out to their next adventure.  And the bright colors really pop against the white card base so it's perfect for the start of summer.

We added some texture with the Seaside embossing folder and the wave die cut from the Swirly Scribbles thinlets.

The boat is stamped on a strip of Whisper White and punched with the tag topper punch and tied with a bit of Night of Navy twine.

A quick change of sentiment could turn this card into a birthday card, a Father's Day card or even a sweet baby boy card.

You only have today and tomorrow to take advantage of the special bundle pricing for the Swirly Bird stamp set and Swirly Scribbles thinlets.  Save 10% on the bundle pricing before the new annual catalog goes live on June 1st.  You'll still be able to get both items but not in a bundle.  Might as well save yourself a bit of money if you have them on your wishlist!

Baby Boy Onesie - Stampin' Up! Custom Tee

This was the first card I made using the new Custom Tee stamp set from Stampin' Up! back in early December.  I was in need of baby card but none of my pre-order stamps were geared for babies and when you have new stuff you just want to use it no matter what!  What to do?  What to do? Turn the regular t-shirt shape into a baby onesie of course!

First I cut out a t-shirt shape with the T-Shirt Builder framelits in Whisper White.  Then using a small circle punch (or a small circle framelit would work too!) I nipped off the bottom corners of the shirt to create the leg openings for the onesie shape.  I used the Custome Tee stamp for the necklines of the shirt to highlight the neck and leg holes in Pool Party ink.  I added some stripes to the sleeves also in Pool Party ink.

The cute little hatching chick from the Sale-a-Bration set "Hey Chick" was stamped on the onesie in Dapper Demin ink and the Daffodil Delight watercolor pencil was used to color the legs.

Once the onesie was complete I backed it with a Dapper Denim circle with faux stitching along the edge.  I added a little DSP flag and an old retired Pool Party button tied with baker's twine.  I added that all on top of a striped DSP square on a Whisper White cardstock base.

The finishing touches are the congratulations from the SAB set Tasty Trucks stamped in Dapper Demin and some rounded corners at the bottom of the card.

Thanks for looking!  Did you stamp today?

Hello Mate! - Fab Friday 97 - Stampin' Up! Foxy Friends

I've made it through this week...not with flying colors mind you, more like spluttering, wheezing and dragging myself to the finish line!  The weather has been horribly glum and rainy and I've had an on and off again sick kiddo so it's been kind an out-of-the-ordinary week where I feel like I haven't gotten very much accomplished.

But.....it's Friday now and a Fab Friday Challenge week to boot!  Things are looking up...maybe the sun will even show up today for some much needed vitamin D!  We are doing a sketch challenge this time around.  Check it out:

Just think of the possibilities with those big panels!  DSP, embossing, stamping.... so many ways you can go!

I decided that my Fox Builder punch and Foxy Friends stamp set needed a bit of love.  I have seen several examples of this cute koala bear while browsing Pinterest so I thought he would be a cute focal point for this card layout.

All the parts of this sweet little guy are made with the Fox Builder punch except for the nose which I hand cut and the circle part of the ears which were made with the Owl Builder punch (another small circle punch would work great as well).

The eyes and paws are stamped in black as is the Hello greeting.  The nose is covered in Crystal Effects.  Even though it's retired I still reach for it.  It gives a nice glossy look and a fun detail to this card.

Behind the koala I stamped and cut out various leaves with the Botanical Blooms stamp set and coordinating Botanical Builder framelits.  Mint Macaron and Emerald Envy are a nice fresh pairing of green don't you think?

Everything is adhered to a Whisper White circle backed by an Emerald Envy scalloped circle.  Both were cut with the Layering Circles framelits.  The circle is popped on dimensionals.

The little bit of DSP that you see peeking out in the back is from the retired It's My Party DSP stack.

I hope this little koala bear made you smile and made you want to join in the fun at the Fab Friday Challenge!  The Design Team always has loads of fun samples to get the creative juices going!
