YA Scavenger Hunt!!!

Welcome to YA Scavenger Hunt! This bi-annual event was first organized by author Colleen Houck as a way to give readers a chance to gain access to exclusive bonus material from their favorite authors...and a chance to win some awesome prizes! At this hunt, you not only get access to exclusive content from each author, you also get a clue for the hunt. Add up the clues, and you can enter for our prize--one lucky winner will receive one signed book from each author on the hunt in my team! But play fast: this contest (and all the exclusive bonus material) will only be online for 72 hours!

Go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page to find out all about the hunt. There are SIX contests going on simultaneously, and you can enter one or all! I am a part of the Red Team --but there is also a blue team, a gold team, an orange team, a red team, and an indie team for a chance to win a whole different set of signed books!

If you'd like to find out more about the hunt, see links to all the authors participating, and see the full list of prizes up for grabs, go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page.

SWEET MADNESS
Today, I am hosting Trisha Leaver on my website for the YA Scavenger Hunt!

TRISHA LEAVER lives on Cape Cod with her husband, three children, and one rather disobedient black lab. She is a chronic daydreamer who prefers the cozy confines of her own imagination to the mundane routine of everyday life. She writes young adult fiction and is published with FSG/ Macmillan, Flux/Llewellyn and Merit Press. She is a member of the SCBWI, ITW and the YA Scream Queens— a group of nine female authors who are deathly serious about their horror! The book Trisha s showcasing on the hunt is…
SWEET MADNESS

Sad young woman … or cold-blooded killer?

“A creative reimagining of the infamous Borden murders told from the POV of Lizzie’s Irish maid, Bridget Sullivan.”

The story of Lizzie Borden began on a hot August day in 1892, but it never really ended. Did the quiet, younger daughter of Andrew Borden murder her father and his second wife in cold blood? Supposedly, no one ever knew, but imagine if Lizzie had one true friend who she shared all of her dark secrets with … her family’s Irish maid, Bridget Sullivan. This is Bridget’s story.

Now for the top secret Bonus Material….

The fascination surrounding the infamous Borden murders grows each year, but yet one questions still remains unanswered: did Lizzie Borden kill her father and stepmother that fateful day in August? Historians, ghost hunters, and criminologists have speculated as to Lizzie’s guilt, but no definitive proof was ever laid down, leaving us Borden enthusiasts to speculate. Curious as to who we “assigned” guilt to? Well, here’s a sneak peek at the ending scene of SWEET MADNESS; it may give you a hint!

The entire house seemed to hum with a dark energy. A wordless, soundless evil that swept up through the staircase and settled into every corner. It was a sinister calm…one that had me searching every second of the past week trying to figure out who and why someone would do this.

I was frozen in place, my feet melded to the top of the landing as my mind churned. I needed to get out of this house. I needed to run to Liam and never look back. Yet I couldn’t even muster the courage to speak, never mind move.

“Bridget?”

My eyes fixed on the front window, and I quickly tried to calculate the distance to the street below. It was the quickest way out. The only way out.

“Bridget.” There it was again, my name floating through the air, pulling at me to respond. I quickly tuned my head toward Lizzie’s room. If I could make my way through her room to Mr. Borden’s then I could use back staircase, hide out in the basement behind the coal bin until nightfall then slip out unnoticed.

I didn’t see her raise her hand, but seconds later, I felt the impact, the stinging burn blooming across my cheek. She’d hit me. Lizzie had actually hit me.

And don't forget to enter the contest for a chance to win a ton of signed books by me, Trisha Leaver, and more! To enter, you need to know that my favorite number is 17! Add up all the favorite numbers of the authors on the red team and you'll have all the secret code to enter for the grand prize!

CONTINUE THE HUNT

To keep going on your quest for the hunt, you need to check out the next author!  Amy Butler Greenfield.
