My Glamorous Life
On my schedule for the weekend: working (ugh) and buying/installing a new toilet seat. SRSLY.
Our current toilet seat (I think it's the original from when the apartment was built in the 50's) is NO LONGER ATTACHED to our toilet. The lid is still attached ... but the seat? No. So it just sits on top of the toilet, whilst we sit upon it - praying that we don't fall in. It's a barrel of laughs (no it isn't).
Now mind you - I live with a Carpenter and a Theater Set Designer/Production Manager. These people own tools and know how to use them. Me? No. But I'm going to give it a shot because they don't seem to mind the carnival ride now located in our bathroom (kinda like the Flume, but for only one person).
I've already scouted the El Cheapo stores in the neighborhood and found a nice sturdy Terlet Seat for less than ten bucks. Unfortunately they don't have white (hence the cheap price), so I'm thinking of going 'non-traditional'.
In fact, last night I purchased a shower curtain to MATCH the "non-traditional" Terlet Seat that I haven't bought yet. Yes, I AM gay ... why do you ask???
If all turns out OK, maybe I'll even take pictures.

What a Lovely Weekend!
I had such a great long weekend that I just had to share. After all, it's not often that I make it to The Urges AND to Arby's - let alone all in the same weekend!
Friday night I met my blogger buddy Ivan from Queer Iv, and we headed to The Urge. The dancers were Papilicious (like the one above) and the drinkies were tasty. And as we walked in, both Ivan and myself were greeted with lovely crotchgrabs from some drunk at the bar! I thought the fine art of manhandling had been lost in the gay community - what with all the twittering, texting and craigslisting that goes on these days. Back in my day, when you thought someone was attractive, you walked up to them and got yourself a handful! I'm glad to see this tradition lives on within the hallowed halls of The Urges.
As an added bonus, I got to meet longtime DustBunny Reid (and his delightful boyfriend) who were visiting from The Great White North. It was wonderful to finally put a face to the name - and they were both just as sweet and fun as could be - as was my loyal companion Ivan.
The next afternoon (after I shook the drunken cobwebs from my brain), my BFF and I took a subway then a bus to Middle Village, Queens to feast on some delicious Roast Beef ...
It was WELL worth the schlep and the cuisine was delish - the perfect cure for the post-Urge hangovers.
Sunday and Monday were spent on the computer, doing household crap and basking in the glow of gogo's and curly fries.
How was YOUR weekend??

Monday Weigh In - You're Not Going To Believe This...
As many of you know, on Thursday I WENT BACK ON THE LOW-CARB DIET I’ve had success with in the past. I also started walking again (5 miles last week) and I even did 30 minutes of aerobic exercise at home yesterday.
I must say I'm quite pleased with the results - 10 lbs. lost since Thursday – yeah me!! Now I’ve been down this road (many times) before, so I know the first week is always the easiest week to lose weight. These results are in no way astonishing or abnormal for me - and, trust me, when you are as big as me it doesn’t take much to drop 10 pounds. But I am still happier than Oprah in a biscuit factory over the results so far.
My first goal is to lose 10% of my total weight (as of Thursday) – which would be 29 lbs (do the math – it’s not pretty). So in the first 4 days I am already 1/3rd of the way to my first goal. Yeah Me!!
Thanks to all of you for your encouragement – it really helps. I must say that doing this “publicly” makes me think twice before reaching for a Big Mac.
In non-diet-related news, this is how I spent my weekend…
Dust Bunnies Mrs. Alaineous and her hubby Mr. Mischief send me the boxed set of the original Star Wars trilogy! They no longer wanted it, so they mailed it to me – along with a hysterical “National Smell My Hand Day” postcard. It was wonderful spending the weekend in “A galaxy far, far away…”. Thank you Mrs. A and Mr. M!!!!!
So ... how was YOUR weekend??

GREAT Weekend
I had such a wonderful weekend visiting with Dust Bunny Dan (above left) from Chicago. We closed The Urges on Friday night, and shared both lunch and dinner on Saturday and it was a BLAST! I will spare you the minute-by-minute weekend recap because I hate it when bloggers think their lives are so interesting that they must list what they ate for breakfast and what brand of cat litter they purchased at Wal-Mart after breakfast. Those should be "Dear Diary" entries, not blog posts.
Anywhore - Dan hates this picture, but it was the only one I took so I had to post it. Thanks Dan, for getting my ass out of the apartment and into the bars, where I belong!

Starting The Weekend A Little Early
First of all, I want to thank everyone for their sweet and supportive comments in response to my Big Ball Of Crazy. Writing about this was a positive and therapeutic experience - which I guess is a step in the right direction.
But putting all that intensely personal stuff out there for public consumption has drained me a little - so I'm going to take a couple of days off from blogging and recharge my batteries. I don't really have any plans, but some time off will allow me to clear my head. And who knows, maybe I'll do a little walking (thanks Bob).
I'll be back Sunday ...

My Weekend
This weekend was supposed to be all about me cleaning my apartment and getting stuff done. It didn't go quite as expected.
On Friday I decided to shave my head (instead of spending $16.00 at the Barber). I've never done this before, and I mistakenly used the clipper attachment which gives you the shortest cut (I should have used the next one up). Now I look like I just entered Army Basic Training Camp - but I did manage to do a better job than Britney...
On Saturday I got called into work for an "emergency" which I had to handle. Afterwards, I decided to take a trip to lovely Secaucus, New Jersey - home to the nearest Walmart. Every year my dear Dad gives me a gift card to "The Walmart," which I save until I'm really broke. Well, I'm officially broke - so I got on the bus at the Port Authority Bus Terminal for some inter-state shopping.
There are no Walmarts in the five boroughs of NYC, because of the company's anti-union policies. Every time Walmart tries to build a store in NYC, the (pro-union) city-council shoots them down. Now I am as Progressive and pro-union as anyone, but I'm also poor, and would prefer to spend $2.29 for Lean Cuisine Cheese Ravioli - as opposed to $5.00 at the Food Emporium. But we'll save that for another blog post.
I returned to the bus station in Manhattan and walked the 10 blocks to my apartment (carrying 8 Walmart bags). Then I called Kayce - and we ended up talking for two hours. After hanging up with her, my throat felt really scratchy - which I thought was just from me yelling for two hours (I speak REALLY loudly). Now I think I've actually caught my roommate's cold - and I'm feeling crappy today. And I have basically gotten NO cleaning done.
Thank God I bought underwear at Walmart - otherwise I wouldn't have any clean man-panties for work tomorrow. I guess I'll have to do my cleaning/laundry during the week.

What A Nice Weekend!
For the second weekend in a row, I actually DID something! I am on a roll...
On Friday night I had dinner with my cousin Mollie, who lives in Texas. She is in NYC doing an internship, and I threatened to tell our grandmother on her if she didn’t visit with me.
On Mama Bunny’s side, I am the oldest cousin, and Mollie is the youngest. I had not seen her since she was in elementary or middle school. She is now 22 years-old – which would make me, ahem, A LOT older (almost 20 years older!!!). We had a four-hour dinner, shared two bottles of wine, and had a lovely time. She is a delightful young woman – and it was really neat to sit down and catch-up with her.
On Saturday we celebrated my BFF’s birthday by going to his absolute favorite restaurant – Long John Silver’s. Yes people – Michael LOVES him some fried fish, hush puppies, and fried ‘skrimps’ from LJS. Since there are no locations in NYC anymore, we did our normal trek out to Hicksville, Long Island (yes, it’s REALLY called “Hicksville”). There is an IKEA there, as well as a mall.
While at the mall, I hit my favorite store, Steve & Barry’s:
And guess where I had “dessert”:
Yes, darling Dust Bunnies, “dessert” consisted of a Roast Beef sandwich and curly fries. And I couldn’t have cared less that I was totally screwing up my diet. It was DELISH!
