Day 5- Christmas in July! Prima Marketing Santa Baby and Quietfire

Hello Crafty Friends!

Day 5 of Christmas in July here and at Quietfire Creations.  Today's card is so simple yet so pretty!

When the new Prima Marketing Santa Baby was introduced, I knew I HAD to have it.  Yes, it was a crafty need.  The papers look soft, elegant, and happy.  Just what I would like to use on many of my Christmas projects this year.  Suzanne Cannon's beautiful calligraphy dies and stamps are a perfect pairing with the paper collection.

The card has the oh-so-sweet "warm wishes" from the Home for the Holidays stamp set:
Home for the Holidays Sentiments, Set of 5 - Mounted

Today's card is easy to make and lovely when complete.  Let's dive in to the instructions!

Card Instructions:
  1. Create side fold 4.25" x 5.5" card using white card stock.
  2. Cut desired image to size and apply copper marker along all edges (optional).  Mat onto white card stock.
  3. Cut background paper to size.
  4. Lay background paper and image onto card base.  Determine location for Warm Wishes stamp.  (If you have a Misti or similar, setup card and stamp as desired.)
  5. Use dark red ink and stamp Warm Wishes on background.
  6. Assemble background to card front.
  7. Assemble image to card front using double sided foam adhesive.
  8. Add gems around Warm Wishes.
  9. Add Stickles or Nuvo Crystal Drops to baubles on image.
There are many images in the 12x12 pad to use as card fronts.  If you have a stamping platform, you could quickly make several cards.
I hope you enjoyed this CAS card as much as I enjoyed sharing it.  Feel free to pop in tomorrow for another project.

Thanks for stopping by!

Have a happy, crafty day.

Kickoff to the Christmas in July...and GIVEAWAY!

Hello Crafty Friends!

This week Quietfire Design is having a Christmas in July celebration.  All week the Quietfire Creations blog will showcase Christmas projects.  My day to post on Quietfire Creations is tomorrow but I really got into the Christmas crafting and created many projects!  I thought I would share them with you all week, too.

My first card was created using the "have yourself a merry little Christmas" stamp from the similar named stamp set:
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - Set of 3 Stamps - Mounted
It is a three stamp set including the quote, snowy background and the tree.  I stamped the quote on white card stock using brown ink.
Also used on the card is the adorable deer from Prima Marketing's Santa Baby paper collection.  I cut the image to size, rounded the corners and applied the brown ink along the edges.  I applied white Nuvo Drops to the harness and Stickles to the hooves and antlers.

The card is quick to make and full of Christmas joy.
Hope you liked my first Christmas card of 2018!  More to be shared soon!

Don't forget to hop on over to Quietfire Creations and enter into the contest!  Good luck!

"Life doesn't have to be perfect..." upcycled Quetfire Design frame

Hello Crafty Friends!

It is my turn to post at Quietfire Creations and I am sharing an upcycled frame using one of the newly released stamps from Quietfire Design, Life doesn't have to be perfect:
Life Doesn't Have to be Perfect - Mounted
You should have seen this poor, sad frame before I upcycled it.  It was dark, dreary and tired.  Some Gesso, white paint and gold paste later and a refreshed frame was complete.  I love how the beautiful sentiment pops against the soft colors of the frame and papers.
For more project details, feel free to hop on over to Quietfire Creations.

Smile Inspire Dream vintage wood wall art

Hello Crafty Friends!

Yesterday I shared a project for the FaveCrafts Best Blogger Contest.  Today I would like to share another project for the contest: a vintage-y wooden "Smile Inspire Dream" shimmery wall art.  Testors Craft (Rust-oleum) provided a can of their new product, Intense Glitter.
For my project I used Intense Glitter in Silver.

The intense glitter was applied to an aged looking wall plaque (Michaels) using a good quality acrylic brush.  The results were awesome!  I was blown away at how glittery the finish looked immediately.  Mind you, it is not a chunky glitter finish.  The finish looks smooth, shimmery and beautiful.  While it was drying I prepped the three inspirational words:
Smile was a pre-cut wooden word that I painted using black acrylic paint.

Inspire was also a pre-cut wooden word.  I kept the Inspire as a dark wood finish and added sparkly gems (that looked great against the shimmery wall plaque).

Dream is a die cut designed by Suzanne Cannon for Elizabeth Craft Designs.  The die was used to cut hardboard and gold construction paper.

After the wall plaque dried, I used a doily stencil (Prima Marketing) and texture paste to add the doily detail in the top left corner.  A wooden heart was painted using red acrylic paint, air dried and more Intense Glitter applied.
After dried, I used liquid adhesive to mount all pieces to the plaque as shown.  A wee white double bow and gold pendant were the finishing touches.  I am so thrilled at how the wall art turned out!  Now the tough part is deciding whether I hang this up in my craft room or my work cubicle.  I may need to make two.  :)

Thank you for stopping by!  Thank you, Rust-oleum, for sponsoring the event!

Have a happy, crafty day.

Gatefold Baby card

Hello Crafty Friends!

Yesterday I shared a quick and cute baby card.  Today's card is a fancy fold baby card that only took a few more minutes to create.  Of course, I had to use more of Prima Marketing's Heaven Sent papers!
To create the card: Cut card stock to 5.5" x 11".  Score at 2.75" and 8.25".  For the outside, cut patterned paper for the panels slightly smaller than 2.75" x 5.5".
The inside had three more panels: two smaller than 2.75" x 5.5" and one smaller than 5.5" x 5.5".
Had to show a closeup of the inside sentiment.  The sticker came with the 8x8 pad.  Reading it warms my heart!
On the outside, the bunny image is the main focus.  It was cut to size and the corners rounded.  Double face foam tape adhered it to Elizabeth Craft Designs' Scalloped Rectangles die.  It was mounted to the left half of the card using double sided adhesive tape.  Remember: only apply adhesive to one half of the die back...putting tape on the entire back means you cannot open the card.
A wee ivory double bow was added as shown and Stickles applied at will.  :)

Sweet Bunny Baby card

Hello Crafty Friends!

How was your week?  This week a cold spread through work and I happened to catch it.  (Boo!) It meant that the two baby cards I planned to make for a friend had to be quick and easy so that I could spend more time snuggled in a blanket with some tea.  Luckily I had recently purchased Prima Marketing's Heaven Sent 8x8 pad-  using Prima's pretty papers and a simple layout resulted in a sweet and easy baby card.
The bunny image (adorable!!) was die cut using Memory Box's Stitched Squares.  The image was mounted using foam tape onto Prima's woodgrain paper.  After matting on coordinating blue card stock, it was then adhered to a tent fold 4.25" x 5.5" tent fold ivory card.  The flowers and bow on the image had Stickles applied for a little sparkly fun.
The card came together in a flash and my friend loved it.  Perfect!

Thanks for stopping by!  I do hope you enjoyed this quick and easy card.  :)
Have a happy, crafty day!

"Some people like flowers like flowers..."

 Hello Crafty Friends!

Spring has sprung here in Nova Scotia.  Yesterday was a glorious day and I spent most of it outside working in the yard.  Usually when I am outside I have my ear buds in but yesterday I enjoyed hearing the sweet bird calls, the trees gently moving in the breezes and families enjoying their time in the sun.  The day inspired today's card with bright papers, a big happy flower and the flowery sweet sentiment, "Some people like flowers" from Quietfire Design's Garden Delights set:
Garden Delights, set of 8 stamps - Mounted
The layout was based on this week's MOJO Monday Sketch:
The sentiment was stamped using Coffee Archival Ink (by Ranger) onto Prima Marketing's Sun Kiss paper.
Tucked behind the sentiment are two half doilies- Cheery Lynn's Tiny French Pastry.  The flowers were from my stash as was the corrugated cardboard.
Thanks for stopping by!  Have a fabulous week!
Big Crafty Hugs,
Kathy Jo
