The article mentions that r’ Belsky never retracted his haskomo to r’ Slifkin which fits his reputation as loose cannon for good and for bad.
ReplyDeleteIt also touches on a point Mekubal brought up that it is the askanim who control and fed the information to the gedolim. It suggests that the askanim manipulate the information to get the psak or the ban they want to. (r’ Elyashiv would not know Crocs from Sketchers )
It is also good to be reminded that the concept of daat torah as the Orthodox equivalency of Papal infallibility is a relatively new (haredi/chassidic) concept
