Heartfelt Creations Cascading Christmas Card

For my Heartfelt Creations project for today, I have once again used the newly released Celebrate the Season collection.  Begin with a 12" x 8" piece of teal card stock.  Download this PDF to show you step by step how to create the Cascading Card base.

Die cut the top of the Ornate Gateway from teal card stock, as well as the fancy heart piece from the Raindrops on Roses.  Adhere with Dries Clear Glue to the center section and the back section as shown in the example.  Use various papers to decorate the card panels.

Using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, stamp the Laurel Wreath, 2 Laurel Borders, 2 large holly and 2 small holly onto Cryogen metallic paper.  Die cut with coordinating dies.  Color with Copics.  Using Memento Lilac Posies ink, stamp 10 small poinsettias and 4 large poinsettias, cutting them out with the coordinating dies. Sponge Lilac Posies around the edges of the petals then add dimension with the Deluxe Flower Shaping Kit.  Stack and glue 2 of the same size flowers to create 5 small poinsettias and 2 large poinsettias.  Following the example, adhere all the elements to the card and then add silver micro beads to the flower centers as well as some decorative flat backed pearls.

Cut 4 strips of paper 1/4" x 3", fold in half and add a 1/2" of ATG on each end.  Slide these inside the two open sections to create bottoms.  Cut a piece of teal card stock 6 1/2" x 4 1/4", scoring and folding to create a booklet 3 1/4" x 4 1/4".  Add a sentiment panel from the paper collection.  Punch a hole in the corner and add a decorative bead and finding.  Slide this into the back opening.  You can add a gift card to the front section.

This finished card will lay flat and slip into a 5" x 7" envelope.

Peachy Keen Bears Oh My!

The challenge this week at Peachy Keen Stamps is to make a 3D object and use a bear.  I have created this fun basket using the new Thinking of You stamp set. I stamped this adorable bear onto Cryogen metallic paper and used Copics E23, E25 and R32 to color him.  I stamped him again onto DP and paper pieced his heart to match the paper on my basket.

I made the basket using one sheet of 12 x 12 card stock.  Start with a piece of card stock 5 x 12 inches, scoring at 5 inches and at 7 inches so you have a 5 x 5 section on top and bottom with a 2 inch middle.  Before going any further you can decorate the front, back and insides; much easier to do when it is flat.  I used an Xacto knife to cut out a window to which I added a piece of heavy acetate.  My DP panels are 4.5 inches square.  Following the template above, cut your 2 side pieces, 3 x 6 inches, scoring vertically at .5 inches and at 2.5 inches.  Also score these pieces horizontally at 1 inch.  When you fold in the flaps, you will have a piece 2 x 5 that will fit snugly in between the front and back panels.  I used red liner tape to put my basket together.

For the handle, I adhered the two strips together so they are nice and strong, then attached them with red liner tape as well as a brad.  I decorated my basket with dies from Cheery Lynn Designs and paper from the Bo Bunny Love Letters collection.

Sweet Stamps Challenge 7 - Center Step Card

Today is our seventh challenge on the Sweet Stamps blog.  Anyone can enter, but if you use a Sweet Stamps rubber stamp you get two entries into the challenge for a chance to win a $20 shopping spree.  Our challenge this week is a to make a Center Step Card.  I hope you will play along with us.  Here is a template to make an A2 center step card.

For my card, I decided to adapt it to a 6" square card.  Mostly because I wanted to use paper from my KaiserCraft Gypsy Sisters Collection 6" paper pad.  I love these rich and elegant papers.

Using a mix of papers from the collection, I created the front of the card.  The panel behind the oval die cut had teal distressing around the edges of the 6" square paper but because I had to trim it down, there was not any left on two of the sides.  So I simply airbrushed some B06 around those sides to make it match.  I stamped this gorgeous Lovely Roses image with Memento Tuxedo black ink onto Cryogen paper.
Copics used:
Roses - R81, R85
Leaves - YG45, Y17, YG41, R85
Shadow - E51

I used my Nellie Snellen Oval Multi Frame die to create the teal oval.  For the patterned paper panel behind the image, I traced the next smaller die from this set and hand trimmed it to fit.  I popped the image up using Foam Dots.  I added some gold pearl accents using my Viva Decor Pearl pen.

For the inside of my card, I trimmed another sheet of DP from the collection.  Also included in this paper pack are borders and die cut panels suitable for adding sentiments.  I added a piece of border across the top and then used one of the die cuts adding this great sentiment, "Hope your day is full of smiles!"

Be sure to visit Sweet Stamps blog and see what the rest of the team has created for you.   And please join in on the fun!

I was asked the dimensions for making a 6" square Center Step card.  I make my base 5 7/8" x 11 3/4" for a 5 7/8" square card, it will fit perfectly in a 6" square envelope.  So here is the template to create this card.  You can vary the size of the side panels, I made mine 1" to accommodate the die cut oval.

Center Step Card Template

To those of you who saved my Center Step Card Template, there was a mistake on one of the measurements as Cathy so kindly pointed out to me.  Subtracting 1.25 from 5.5 gives you 4.25 not 4.75 inches, lol, so much for my math skills.  So here is the corrected copy.  The idea is each side piece should be 1.25" wide.  Sorry for any confusion.

Kai in the Snow Center Step Card

While blog hopping, I have run into this same fold on several blogs, that pointed me to other blogs but never to a tutorial showing me how to make it.  So after quite a few bad attempts, I was able to figure it out.  It really is a very easy card to make, as easy as the easel card in my opinion.

The center panel is taller and the 2 side panels step back.  Pretty cool design, sadly I don't know who to credit with its creation.  I started the card by sizing and printing Mo Manning's Kai in the Snow onto Cryogen paper with my inkjet printer.  Copics used:
Kai - E000
Snowsuit - B00, B04
Hat & Scarf - R29, YG93
Gloves - YG93
Boots - C2

I used Our Craft Lounge Sparkly Stuff on the pom-poms and a Snow Writer Pen on the snow flakes and ground snow.  The circle die is from Nellie Snellen, DP is My Mind's Eye.  The sentiment is from an old See-D's stamp set, the tag is a McGill punch.  Finished size is 4.25 x 5.5 inches.

I have created a template for you to use should you want to make one of these cards.  Do the 2 cuts first then use the cut lines as guidelines for your scores.  Have fun with it.

Mo Manning Shy Valentine Nessa side step card

I have had great fun lately trying new folds.  This one is called a side step fold.  It is made from an A2 size card stock, 5.5 x 8.5 inches.  You can adjust the size of the left side panel to fit the image you are going to use.  I have created a template for those that might be interested in trying this fold.

For my card, I chose Mo Manning's new Shy Valentine Nessa.  I made my left hand panel 3 inches wide so I sized Nessa  to fit and printed her onto Cryogen white paper with my inkjet printer. Copics used:
Hair - Y23, YR23, Y35
Skin - E000, E00, E02
Skirt and Socks- RV21
Heart - RV21, RV23, RV29
Shoes - E33
Background - BG0000

The saying was computer generated using a font called Edwardian Script ITC.  I just love the curly cues on the capital letters.  I outlined the letters with BG0000 for some shadow effects.  The DP is from Archivers, the glitter hearts are from K&Company.  Here is a side view of the card.  You could place a photo or a gift card in the valley where I have the saying.  Thanks for stopping by and if you make a card, please leave me a comment so I can check it out.
