Dilly beans for mom

I've been on a run lately...
and most likely you'll be sick of looking at my Mother's Day cards
but I have yet another to share with you.
This one is actually for my own mom
She just loves fuschia, and I know she'll love all the flowers on this girl!
The image is from Dilly Beans, and I've colored her up with my copic markers
Here's her close up

Can you see that I added some perfect pearls to her eyes??  I haven't pulled those out in a while!

31 days of Halloween: Day 9

I am sooooooo excited about today's project!
I have attempted to alter an altoid tin before, and it was an epic fail!
Today however I am very excited about my hand coffin
Yep, that's right, a hand coffin...
Just in case you have some hands hanging around your house and you need somewhere to keep them!

I started this project trying to make the box look rusted. Does it??
I have never really tried this, and I decided to use paints
To achieve this rusted look!

It worked, but was a lot of work... Layer after layer of paint!

I looked at the box when it was done, and thought well, what can I make it into?? So I decided to add the bone hands inside.

I added some lace around the bottom, and even though you can't see it,
There are little feet on the bottom.
I had some white faux fur in my fabric stash that I added to the bottom of the box!
Then I did some embossing and glitter on the top inside of the box.

Finally I embossed the clock onto some aluminum tape that I colored with alcohol inks.
I ran a little staz on over the face of the clock so the numbers would pop out
Then I pounded some glass beads and adhered them to the surface.
I am finally happy with the outcome of an altered tin!

Tea Time For mom

Its been a busy week for me so far!
Lots of work... not a lot of creating!
Today I took a little time out for that creating...
I made this card for mom
(hopefully she doesn't read the blog till she gets the card!)
I found some cool retro looking paper at the local scrap store
and thought I'd try out some new stamps I picked up at
Tuesday Morning!
Also, over at Shopping Our Stash their challenge is 3, 2, 1, as in 3 of something
2 of something else, and 1 of something... so I have 3 stamps, 2 paper designs, and 1 die cut
Yes, that's an oval die cut in the center..
Here's the fun part of this card.
It's the surprise inside

That's right, a tea bag!
You see, mom and dad are coming back for a visit in a few weeks
And maybe we'll get to go out for tea, but if not,
we could always have a skype session and a cup of tea!
So I know it's hard to see, but I actually layered these strips of
paper all around the tea bag. Layer after layer after layer.
I did the same thing on the front of the card, layering the green stripes around
the pink teapot paper.

Hope you enjoy today's post! I hope to have some fun posts the
rest of the week as well! So come on back and check out the fun!
And remember to come back on Sunday for a fun new challenge over at
Anything But a Card!!!

Marking things off my list

I rescently wrote a 35 before 36 list, (no I haven't shared it here)
One of the things on my list is to keep in better touch with my long-distance friends
I made this card in attempt to make a start at that!

The image is from the super talented Krista Smith from Saturated Canary
You've seen her work on my pages before!
Her new challenge is to use Polka Dots, so I did my very best to polka up everything!
Even the little ribbon which was all black, I added white dots using my white gel pen
Here is the close up of this this pretty little fairy

I added some "clear" glitter glue to her wings to make them stand out
I cut her out using my Big kick die cut machine and a Spellbinders Oval nestabilities
On the black oval I ran it through my cuttlebug embossing polka dot folder

Now for the butterfly!  I'm so excited to share this butterfly with you all!!!
She is made out of a dryer sheet!
YES, I said a dryer sheet!  You wanna know how??  I will not take credit for this one.. I found this
fab tutorial on youtube here

It's hard to see, but the butterfly is actually see through!
I even threw some extra dryer sheets in with my blankets tonight so I'll have some more to work
with this next weekend, ha!
I also added some stitching along the edges, and along the sentiment too!

I can't wait to send this beauty off to Florida!

The Huntsman

I've mentioned before my struggle with card making...
Today I continued my battle...
In this case using "the huntsman" from Saturated Canary (find it here)
At the Saturated Canary Challenge blog there is a challenge based on a picture
I interpreted the green grass and the big tree into this
Birthday Card for a friend from work
My friend is really into magic cards (I don't get it but he LOVES them)
So I figured what else would a little boy with a sword slay but a dragon??
I added some sewn detail around the sides

And the oval that the huntsman is die cut out of was them embossed around the edges.
The Ticket is from Tim Holtz, and I added the "happy day" stamping
Here's the huntsman's close up...
Isn't he a cutie??
Hope you like what I've created today!

Fairy nice with a tag

I couldn't resist coloring up this cutie!

She is of course a Saturated Canary digi from the super talented Krista Smith
I colored her with my pinks, and added some distressing on the edges...

A couple of rhinestones and a flower punch to the side,
And then the little tag with a sweet sentiment on the bottom.
I love the little tag!
Tied up with just a little bit of twine, and popped up with some foam squares!
