Celebrate with anything but a card

Today's post is bittersweet.
This is our last challenge at anything but a card challenge
We have decided to go out with a bang, and a CELEBRATION
So, that's our challenge, to share something that you celebrate.
I made this art journal page.
This background started it's life as a catch all for my left over bits and pieces.
Eventually I added some dictionary papers, and the flowers,
and then the saying that I pulled off of pinterest.

I think it's a great saying,
"When life is Sweet, say thank you and celebrate. And when life is Bitter say thank you and Grow."
Shouldn't we all live by this?
On this side of the page I stamped some Dylusions flowers, then
painted them with watered down dina wakley paints, then stamped over them with the alphabet letters, then hand cut them all out.

I have to say that I am going to miss these fun "anything but a card" challenges.
This was my first design team, and 50 challenges later I am happy I have been a part of the whole run!
All the design team members have been wonderful, and I have so enjoyed seeing
all the amazing creations from all of you out there!
I hope that I will see many of you in the future on other sites, or challenges.

Friends

I was supposed to have this post up yesterday, but somehow the day got away from me!  How does that seem to happen?
Well I have a cute little watercolor to share with you. There is a brand spankin new challenge over at anything but a card its friendship.
I've been working on some fancier type hand lettering, so I used a black permanent pen to do the words, and then I hit it with some water colors. I hope you enjoy, and come join the challenge.

Steampunk for anything but a card

Happy Sunday!
I gotta say I'm very excited for football season to finally be starting up again!
I can't wait for the weather to turn a little cooler so I can have all the windows open while we watch the games!

Oh that's right I'm not writing a sports blog!!
I have some yummmmmmmy steampunk goodness to share with you all today!
I rescently did an overhaul of my studio, a lot of purging, and a lot of organizing,
and I came across this picture frame that I got at the second hand store.
I thought this would be a the perfect project for the Steampunk Challenge at Anything But A Card.

It was great to know exactly where all my metal goodies were,
and plus I found some that were "lost."
Here is the finished project
And some close ups...

This little deck of cards is one of my most favorite purchases from a recent estate sale.
I added a little clip and the light bulb.
I had also gotten a wonderful measuring tape at an estate sale,
so i clipped a little piece of it and added some cogs and a game spinner piece.

Finally for the Inspire light bulb,
This piece was completely see through, so i added a bit of scrap paper to the back,
and boom, a wonderful piece.

I hope you all are inspired by what you're seeing, and don't forget that there is currently
a Design Team call going on at Anything But a Card.
I will say this is a wonderful group to work with, and there are always inspiring pieces!
If you like to make things other than cards please throw your hat in!
We would love to have you in the group!

Anything But a Card: Fall into fall

Halloween is over, and it feel like fall is in the air here in Arizona!
We often joke that we have 2 seasons, Summer, and fall.
This last week it's felt a lot like fall!
To celebrate this fabulous weather, I made a fun little fall wreath!
I have a confession, I used all recycled and leftover materials
The base (which you can't see) is a cereal box (we've been eating a LOT of cereal lately!)
Then all the leaves were made using scrap pieces of paper,
and then distressed with distress inks,
then layered on top of eachother, and then I added the little FALL banner with some
of the twine that I scored from an estate sale a few weeks back!
There is a brand new challenge over at Anything but a Card
the Challenge is "Fall into Fall"
I hope you are getting to enjoy a little bit of fall weather,
or even better a little bit of winter weather!

Anything but a card: Orange and/or black challenge

Yesterday was a pretty creative day for me!
I got to participate in a few card challenges for World Card Making Day,
and then I got to make this fun ATC!
There is a new challenge at Anything But a Card
Its Orange and/or Black
I decided to go for the and!
And I used a new digi from Just Some Lines!
I am loving these new Halloween Stamps that are in the store!
Isn't she just so fun???
I adore that her neck is vertebrae!
The bat stamps and the Fang-tastic came from a stamp pack I won last year!
So I haven't had much chance to use them until now!
You can find them at Bug Bites
I'm also linking up with the Voo doo doll or stitching challenge at Wicked Wednesdays

Anything but a card challenge 8

Welcome back to another challenge at Anything But A Card
The challenge is anything that represents Light or Sun/ Christmas or December Holidays...
I know this is sort of a stretch...
But my handmade house is also a luminary!
Well I think it is, I didn't get a chance to try it out before I had to head out to work,
The stained glass looking window in the top is actually a piece of vellium
which should make a pretty glow coming from my little house when a candle is inside.
Like I said before, this little house is all hand made.
I had a couple of 8 x11 sheets of chipboard
(the back piece of the notepade that we use at work, and get tossed on a daily basis)
which I just hand sketched
the house parts onto, and then cut them out.
I then cut some pieces of Basic Grey paper and modge podged them down
overlapping eachother.
I used some teal washi tape on the inside to put all the walls together,
for the roof I really loved this striped piece of Basic Grey,
And had to use it on the roof.
I added a piece of aluminum tape to the top because the gap was rather large,
and I couldn't get the pieces to line up.
The tape was dabbed with alcohol  ink (which is now all over my fingers)
I also used the alcohol ink on the window.
Finally for the door I cut out another piece of the chipboard,
added a piece of plain red Basic Grey paper, and a button for the handle.
I did doodle some wood looking strips on the door, but they didn't show up in the pic.
To me this house screams Country Christmas,
I may try another one tomorrow as I'll finally be off work for a few days!

Anything But a Card Challenge #3

Wow, it's been a month since the start of Anything but a Card!!!!
Its been such a wonderful experience....
Getting to know all the other DT members, and getting to push my creativity!!
Soooooo this week we have something shiny or reflective, I guess it could probably be
something glittery too!!!

I was super excited about a month ago when I found this awesome blue knob at an estate sale
I actually picked up three different vintage knobs at that sale... all for under a dollar!!!

I knew right away that I wanted to create something like this...
I ran the aluminum tape through my big kick with the gears embossing folder
then I grunged it up using some black acrylic and gesso... Just swipe it on sorta thick,
and then wipe it off using your handy dandy rag....
Then lucky for me the nice young man at ACE hardware agreed to drill a hole
in the top of my box for me!!!  yeah, it was perfecto....
In went the screw and the nut and voila, I had a fab handle for the top

I lined the inside of the box using some Tim Holtz papers... (I know it's sorta hard to see!)
I wanted to pick up some of the blue from the knob
and this paper fit the bill perfectly.
The cashier at ACE says I should make them and sell them... wouldn't this make a perfect gift
box for dad or hubby??
So, hop on over to Anything but a Card and get some inspiration from the
design team, and then get to linking your shiny projects!!!  Just remember,
NO CARDS!!!!
Happy Sunday all!!  Have a Crafty day!!!  I'll be watching some football!!!
