Jumbo Thanks!

Being a 'planner' that I am......before leaving for Sonoma - I tried to make ALL my Thank You cards for the friends and family who donated to Running for Rescues!  So - for the next few days - I'll be posting them.

They are on the CAS side seeing as I had to make over 40 of them! (gulp!)

I embossed a Studio G elephant in black and then colored them in with my Inktense pencils.  I layered that on a scallop circle punch.  For the base I used a PTI polka dot stamp in grey and then the sentiment that came with the elephant!

Father's Day 3

Hello!

Here's the third and final Father's Day card I made that Nolie, Buddy and Sweet Pea gave to Frank.

The main image on the front is actually a page torn from a mini book I bought in Washington DC last month. My husband and I say this quote to each other now and then.  It's from a Vince Vaughn movie from a long time ago.

I used a Hero Arts background stamp with Versamark ink for some added interest and some ribbon as well.

Normally - I don't decorate the inside of the card, but I had to this time.

I used a PTI dog stamp in three different colors of our pups and some Simon Says Stamps die cuts with Lawn Fawn letters and a Studio G sentiment.

Buddy (in the middle) would of sent some sentiments to Frank, but he was too busy thinking about bones :)

Thank You Fishes!

I was asked to make a tropical/fish themed Thank You card for someone.  This is what I ended up making:

The fish are from Studio G and colored with a bunch of different Inktense pencils.  I embossed the card panel with white powder.  For the sentiment - I colored the stamp with three different Faber-Castell big brush markers and then stamped for a cool look!

The fish were covered with a glitter pen too for some added fun!

Happy Saturday!!!!!!

Bliss.........

So, I'm having a bit more success on my canvases than my art journal - but I'm still having fun learning new techniques.  Holy cow - I'm following like 6 new art journaling blogs - so that's fun!

Here's a journal page I made this week after thinking about our 16th wedding anniversary:

I'm pretty happy with the background. Kind of reminds me of a chalkboard AND Venetian plaster at the same time.  I just took black and white acrylic paints and then dragged them around with an old gift card.

I added strips of washi tap and then swipes of more paint using my finger.  Added some Memory Box hearts too.  You can't tell from the picture - but the heart in the lower center of picture is actually a wood heart with glitter glued to it. Looks pretty neat in person as the 'dot' to the "i"

I looked through my stash and found these postage stamp stickers.  I was limited on what I had - so I was trying to have it read "2-15-13"

For fun - I added a Studio G bride and quickly colored her in with a white gel pen!

Hope you have a wonderful Sunday!!!!!!

I'm so sorry

Hiya Friends!  Hope you are well today.  I made this card last week for a friend who had to put her dog Brandy down.  She was 14 years old, which is quite old for her breed, but even still - it is a tough loss for them.

When I saw the Mojo#270 sketch - which was two week's ago - I kept it unread in my Google Reader because I liked the sketch and knew I wanted to use it even if I missed the deadline.

I used papers from My Mind's Eye pack, which I just love the pink/brown combo.
I die cut hearts from a Verve die and the heart border is Memory Box die.
The sentiment is Studio G and I forget who makes the pawprints.

I hope this gave some comfort to my friend.  Have a great day!

Do I really need a new craft?

No.........not really...........but lately I've been inspired by a few ladies to try some mixed media projects.

Namely:
Jill Foster
Elizabeth Allen and
Paula Williamson

So.................here's my FIRST EVER mixed media on canvas! (Be kind!!)

So, after my friend Paula called me from Michigan to give me some tips - I decided to just go for it. What's the worst thing? I throw it away?

First I took a piece of My Mind's Eye paper and cut it to the canvas size.  Then I took a Stamping Bella image (the girl) and stamped it with StazOn Ink.  I stamped it before adhering the paper to canvas so I got a perfect impression.

Then I used my Mod Podge and covered the top of the canvas and the back of the paper and adhered them together.   I covered it with more Mod Podge and let it dry for a bit.

Then I dug around in my closet to find my acrylic paint and using my finger I put on yellow, green and at metallic blue.  I covered the sides too - and let dry.

Next I grabbed a few random stamps. I dipped some in my acrylic paint and pressed them to canvas and some I stamped with more StazOn.  I added some finger polka dots to the sides of the canvas too.  When dry - I added more Mod Podge and then I wanted a bit more - so I colored in the hearts she's blowing with a red Sharpie, then added clear Stickles on top.

I stamped a Hero Arts sentiment on another piece of paper and edged it with metallic paint. ( I don't love how that came out!)

Finally I added some more leaf stamps in StazOn and added one final coat of Mod Podge.

Lastly, I glued down one clear gem over one of the kite tails just for dimension because I didn't invest in gesso (yet).

So - what you think? If you'd done this - do you have any advice for me?

Thanks!!!!!!

Birdie Greetings

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!   Hope you're able to spend the day with family and friends and be thankful for all that you have!  I know I am :)

So my cousin-in-law, Julie's birthday was yesterday. I asked for her card to be mailed while we were away (Hopefully it got to her).  Here's what I made her!
She and her husband Vin love birds - so I thought it would be fun to gather up my bird stamps to make her a card 'from the whole flock'.  We've got many birds here:  Hero Arts, Lawn Fawn, Memory Box and Studio G.  There were even more inside, but I failed to take a picture of it BEFORE writing my greeting - but it was just as cute :)

And btw, Julie has put a kabash on people buying penguin things for her husband, since he collects penguin 'things' so you know I just couldn't resist adding one to her card :)

Oh..........and I must show you what was awaiting us when we got home from Italy:
There are about 50 paper roosters glued on to sticks. Plus there are three at our front door along w/ a birthday sign for Frank.  Roosters are a running joke in our family.........I'm sure you haven't seen the last of these! ;)

Trick or Treat

Are you getting for Halloween?  We bought 5 pumpkins this weekend but have no plans to carve them right now.  We'll see what happens as it gets closer.  I have been 'coloring' pumpkins though!  This one in particular:

This is a Stamping Bella image colored with my prismas.  I smudged the ghost's eye...so I had to restamp and pop him up a layer.

This card is for three challenges:
The Sweet Stop Sketch#181
Dynamic Duo's #25 and
Stamping Bella's 10/26/12 challenge - of 3 papers and 3 embellishments

Hope you're having a good week so far!  Today my neighborhood friend's are coming over to craft up some pumpkins!  Should be fun!  Hopefully I'll post those pictures tomorrow!

Halloween Treat Containers

A few weeks ago I was at my mom's house and she had a Crystal Lite container in her recycle bin.  I thought, "hmmm, I could probably do something with that" - so I took it!  Then she saved me a few more and this past week I finally decided to 'do' something with them.

Yup - I made some mummies to put Halloween candy in!  We really don't get kids except for my neighbors so for the past few years, I've made them special things for Halloween.  This project was very easy!

I actually took computer paper and ripped it into strips, then inked the edges.  Once I had a whole bunch, I started gluing them to the container.  I took some toothpicks and threaded the banner through them and added the ribbon and google eyes.  Since I only had small google eyes - I decided to give the mummies some eyelashes too!

Hope you like them!

CAS Halloween cards!

Just poppin' in quickly this Sunday to show to easy-peasy Halloween cards I made using some OLD STASH of glitter!

I took my wide red-line tape and laid it down on the card.  Peeled off the covering and sprinkled on the glitter. Then I pressed the glitter down with a bone folder and just for a 'bit' more - I turned my heat gun on it really quickly so it all melted together a bit.  I used a combination of Studio G and PTI stamps for the sentiment. EASY!

And......I wanted to wish my Dad a HAPPY BIRTHDAY today!!!!!!!!!!  Yahh!!!!!!

See you tomorrow for some Halloween treat canisters :)

More Fall Cards

Are you getting tired of my Fall cards yet?  Hope not!  I've got two more to show you today and I'm going to finish out the week with more! Watch out!

I'm am still creating cards using the Impression Obsession leaf stamp that I stamped out last week. I guess I went a bit crazy huh?  But it was fun to use the stamp in different ways.

This first card used 'second generation' stamping on watercolor paper with my Distress Markers.   I cut out the image using my nesties and sponged a bit.
I layered that on glittery brown cardstock. Then used a PTI woodgrain impression plate and layered some color over that to give it some dimension.  Used up some scrap DCWV paper and a Studio G stamp and one more fall card was complete.

For the second card - I thought I'd try my hand a collaging..........which needs some PRACTICE!
I took a Tim Holtz tag and used a few different stamps to create the collage.  You can still see some of the Impression Obsession leaves floating around on the card.  The tag was so big, I ended up tearing the bottom off.

I stamped the card background with a Stampin' Up stamp I bought at my LSS 'consignment sale along with two PTI sets! SCORE!  You see that material on the card?  My hubby bought some new shoes and they came in these fabric bags, so I decided to use some of that on the card.

So - there are two more cards!  I'll be back with more :)

Sending Birthday Wishes

Hello!!!  Did you make it through Monday?  Hope so!  I was able to do some coloring last week and am working through the Stamping Bella images I purchased last month.  Here's another 'flying' card using "Ramona and Teddy"  (Can you tell I'm really liking my Hero Arts cloud stamp?)

There's a lot of dimension on this card.  I popped up the balloon, Ramona, Teddy and the middle set of trees.  I also added bakery twine for the umbrella strings.  Everything is colored with my Prisma pencils and gamsol. Not sure what I was doing with the PTI sentiment, but I fiddled around for placement for a bit and that's how it ended up!

I added glossy accents to the polka dots on the balloon too.  I hope the recipient of this card likes it as much as I do :)

Have a great day!

SSC70 - Yahoo!

Welcome back!!!!  I'm sure you're thinking it's quite late in the summer for a graduation card, but my hubby has to go to a graduation party next weekend, so I thought I'd get ahead of the game and get this card done!

I used the Sketchbook Saturday Challenge#70 to make this pretty CAS card:

I started off with My Mind's Eye paper and some Studio G stamps!  I came across a Verve notebook stamp and thought it would go great with this graduation card.  Plus, it's for a 'guy' so I couldn't make it too frilly!

Here's the sketch:

Have a great day!!!

She's Expecting

I'm NOT expecting.................but 'She's Expecting"!!!!!!!!!  I didn't want anyone to get too excited!!  I needed a card for a baby shower and I was running out of time last week - so I grabbed my baby themed paper and a Studio G stamp and was able to put this card together.

Nothing too fancy but I did color in my clear gems with a purple Sharpie to get the color I needed!!

Super quick post today!!!!  Have a great day :)

Now and Forever

Happy Monday to you!!!  Hope you had a great weekend.  We sure did (more on that at the bottom of the post!)

Here's a wedding card I made last week - pretty CAS - but ooooh, I love how it came out!

I started inking a Hero Arts background stamp with three different Distress Inks.  Then I spritzed it with water and perfect pearls and stamped onto watercolor paper.  The shimmer is so nice!

I heat embossed a Studio G stamp with white powder and then smooshed that circle in some puddles of Distress Inks.  I used a paint brush to really color in the "&".  Then I found some matching ribbon and the card was complete.

Here's an closer picture of the sentiment circle since the lettering is quite delicate.

On Saturday night - we had a small gathering at our house.  When my friend Nick texted me at 7:00am and said he just finished squeezing 6 ruby red grapefruits, I knew it was going to be a good night.  You see..........he squeezes the grapefruits........then he makes basil simple syrup.......then Jim 'muddles' some basil, adds some vodka and we're ready to PARTY!!!  The grapefruit basil martini's were just YUMMY!

Then, after dinner....we did some night swimming and out of nowhere, the Cafe Patron came out! Oh Boy...about 6 shots later were a happy bunch!!!  Lots of laughs were had.  Good times :)

SFYTT-June - Thanks Dad!

Happy Wednesday to you!!!!  Here's the card I made for Frank for Father's Day 'from the dogs'.  I used the June Sketch For You To Try layout and my There She Goes stamps!!   I really like how it came out! The sketch ended up being perfect to reflect the '3' dogs.

I stamped them all out and colored them with my prisma pencils.  Then cut them all out and layered them around the circle.  I used one of my new paper packs from My Mind's Eye that I got at Home Goods for $2.99 (SCORE!!!) - they retail for $6 online!!

I stamped a Studio G sentiment and then punched out some hearts from a Verve set I received as a 'bonus' from a previous purchase.  I added some Stickles to the center heart.

Here's the sketch if you want to play along! You've got until the end of the month!!

Hope you're having a great week!
