Black pastors group demands meeting with Obama over gay marriage

Washington Times- The Coalition of African American Pastors has demanded a meeting with President Obama to try to change his mind on his personal embrace of same-sex marriage.

The pastors fired off a letter this week to Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. asking him to set up the meeting with the president, and painted their quest as a civil rights cause.

"I can promise you personally, as an organizer of the civil rights movement in Nashville, I did not march one inch, one foot, one yard for same-sex marriage," said Rev. William "Bill" Owens Sr., founder of the coalition and organizer of the letter. [emphases mine...] -->Read more

House Of Rep.: Gender-Based Abortion Okay

Fox News - House defeats bill to ban gender-based abortions:
A bill that would ban sex-selective abortions failed to muster enough support to pass the House Thursday following a contentious debate.

The final vote was 246-168. Though a majority voted in favor of the bill, this particular proposal required a two-thirds majority to pass -- supporters of the bill fell 30 votes short.

The proposal would have made it a federal crime to carry out an abortion based on the gender of the fetus. The measure takes aim at the aborting of female fetuses, a practice more common to countries such India and China, where there is a strong preference for sons, but which is also thought to take place in the U.S. >>>>Read more

Just What Qualifies Obama To Be President?

American Thinker - At a press event while attending the NATO summit in Chicago, President Obama was asked about his campaign's negative ads about Bain Capital. Bain Capital was the financial firm that helped Mitt Romney amass his wealth, and helped him become one of those despised "millionaires and billionaires" that the President has blamed for the 2008 financial collapse (when he's not blaming Republicans in general and George W. Bush in particular).

At the end of the NATO Summit, while taking questions from reporters, President Obama talked about his attack on challenger Mitt Romney. Defending his campaign's attacks on Romney's tenure at Bain Capital, Obama said: "this is what this campaign is going to be about."

"If your main argument for how to grow the economy is 'I knew how to make a lot of money for investors' than you're missing what this job is about," the president said.

I do find it odd that no one has asked one simple question of the President, though. What exactly was the expertise that he brought to the office in January 2009? I might be foolish, but wouldn't expertise in any single area of the responsibilities of the president be better than no known expertise in any area? Or is lecturing in a post-secondary environment really a skill set that's required of the president? Is being a community organizer a readily transferable skill for the successful leadership of the free world? Is a legislative record of voting "Present" really essential in order to lead the largest economy on the planet? [...]
