a few pictures, and some words, summing up the week that just was.
last night saw a wee trek into the city to catch up with some of bb's family.
i spent quite a bit of time knitting. walking through the city and knitting, drinking cider and knitting, riding the train and knitting.
these socks now just need a quick kitchener-ing and they'll be done! woohoo!
a quick breakfast before work...
whipped up with what i had hanging around in the fridge. grilled haloumi, garlic and chilli mushies, a poachy on a sourdough muffin from the freezer. so delicious!
the simplest things are the most entertaining.
i carried him around like this for a good half hour. i think he was spellbound seeing all the stuff he normally misses out on being on the ground.
i spent monday and tuesday of this week in the most wondrous place.
i can't ever see myself getting sick of being there, surrounded by scrumptious wool.
and a sweet treat on wednesday night.
ncb this week was in the city, at 1000£ bend. there was an n2 stand just across the road which was amazing to check out. i didn't eat this, but the lady that was going to was more than happy for me to snap a quick picture.
yes, that IS a donut covered in whipped cream on TOP of the milk chocolate, cookie studded ice cream.
the entire menu looked amazing, and i will definitely be going back!
what did you get up to this week? what is your favourite ice cream?

sunday snippets.
playing along with {tinniegirl} and her sunday snippets.
a few pictures, and some words, summing up the week that just was.
i spent the day yesterday with some lovely crafty ladies getting some sewing done! they're all quite experienced garment sewers so offered me great advice and helped me whip up this awesome number.
i am stoked with how it turned out, and already have plans to whip up a couple more of these tanks!
i spent a little time this afternoon exploring this wild backyard!
there is a LOT going on back there, and i can only imagine the discoveries you could make in that jungle!
this guy was being his ever so helpful self last night.
i spent a little bit of time going through my fabric stash, and couldn't help myself but make plans... more about that on tuesday though...
and the kombucha mother i started growing last week?
well it's coming along nicely! i can't help but think it's not too far away from being able to make some kombucha for real! it hasn't taken nearly as long as i'd anticipated it would!
what have you been up to this week?

sunday snippets.
playing along with {tinniegirl} and her sunday snippets.
a few pictures, and some words, summing up the week that just was.
this has been my staple lunch almost every day this week...
a bowl of spinach leaves, some tomato, cucumber, maybe some carrot and a WHOLE lotta goat's cheese. so delicious!
i've made a start on one of my goals for this month...
i'm trying to grow a kombucha mother, so that i can brew my own. it's something i've been reading up on for a little while, and, well, i'm doing it!
it definitely won't be a goal i'll get finished in this month, as it can take up to a month to grow the mother (or scoby as it's also called), and then the fermentation process for a batch takes another couple of weeks... i'll get there though!
sampson has been helping me with my knitting.
or helping me to not knit...
and i bought myself something lovely online which arrived in my postbox on thursday...
i do love brown paper packages, tied up with string.
particularly when they contain...
beautiful vintage dresses! sophie is having a wee instagram de-stash over at her retro adventures. be sure to check it out if you love anything vintage.
how has your week been? do you drink kombucha? what's your favourite thing to have in a salad?

we've had a couple of super hot days this week.
but once the cool change hit, i was on the front steps, with my knitting and a cider. bliss.
one of the gifts i received for christmas was some itunes vouchers.
i don't know that my brother (the gifter) would approve of my purchases though... i've been enjoying myself though!
i have been eating so much fruit!
my bench and my vegie crisper is full and i can't get enough!
and another of the awesome gifts i received for christmas.
a preserving kit! my mumma knows me very well! can't wait to get preserving some awesome things!
and finally... the scarf i got to knitting when the cool change came through, well it's my first finish for 2015!
and it's up in my shop already too!
how has your week been? were you gifted anything excellent over the holidays?

sunday snippets.
well hello there!
it's been so much longer than i'd meant it to be... but what a crazy time of year!
i've been super busy with work since getting back from our little roadtrip, and when i wasn't busy, i was trying to get ready for christmas! lots of knitting, and food prep...
a beanie for my bestie's hubby, a pair of socks for my cousin's littlest (don't ever try and take a photo of a dancing young lady) and my take on babymac's salmon stacks (so delicious!)
and of course, when there's lots to be done, there's always something i end up doing instead...
like organising projects i want to knit next year from my stash. naturally...
they may just be all bagged up, and labelled, in a basket ready to knit. there are lots of beanies in the works, as well as a couple of scarves, a pair of socks and my first shawl!
can't wait to get knitting!
how did your christmas go? are you already making plans for the new year?

sunday snippets.
the holiday edition. running just a week or so late...
it's been a big couple of weeks since getting back, and blogging has definitely fell by the way side.
watching the sun set over the ocean in robe. bliss.
happy hour. erryday. with free popcorn this particular night.
a +20,000 step day resulted in me destroying my favourite shoes. damn!
there was lots of knitting done, mostly in the car, but some balcony and tea knitting too.
we checked out grapes in the botanic gardens (we spent maaaaaany hours there, hopefully more details on that later...), and then saw heaaaaaaaps more when we drove through mclaren vale.
and how awesome is this blue lake? so many different coloured lakes about!
have you ever travelled to adelaide? or taken a ridiculously long road trip, just because?

sunday snippets.
playing along with {tinniegirl} and her sunday snippets.
a few pictures, and some words, summing up the week that just was. well, it's been a few weeks since i snippeted on a sunday, so it might be snippets from the last couple of weeks ha ha!
i cooked up a storm on one of my days off.
lemon curd, kale chips, lemon and lime cordial and jammy berries.
snuggling with this monster.
he always cuddles up to me just when i need to be getting up for work.
i've eaten a couple of these beauties so far.
they were delicious!! now to remember to keep the water up to them so i get more deliciousness to eat!
i bought a hat!
i realised that i didn't have a hat that actually provided shade to my face, the main purpose of a hat... so i found one. it's been modelled in the tea room at work, as evidenced above, but also used out in the sun over the weekend.
it works a treat!
and i tried my hand at green smoothies earlier in the week...
i had never made, or drank one before. it wasn't too bad but i think i'd change a couple of things next time i make them... mainly, i'd HALVE the recipe! way too much for one person, and too much for two people too to be honest!
what have you been up to this week? have you tried a green smoothie before?

sunday snippets.
playing along with {tinniegirl} and her sunday snippets.
a few pictures, and some words, summing up the week that just was.
tuesday, i had some rhubarb on my chopping board.
i cooked it up with some red wine and a few spices and it's now sitting in a jar in the fridge, ready to be spooned over steaming hot porridge during the week. yum!
a little pair of booties.
the commission order i was working on, all done and dusted and delivered!
pretty stoked with how they turned out, now just need to sketch down the pattern before it flits out of my brain!
this week's vegie box!
picked up yesterday and chock full of delicious goodies! am loving the amazing work these guys do!
and to supplement all of the above delights...
my own little rocket patch! i got to picking this the other night, thinking it was a big ol' patch of spinach... a closer look, and a taste test later, and i quickly realised it was ALL rocket! definitely not a bad thing and it gave the pesto i was making a bit more zing ha ha!
i was a bit cheeky when i headed down to the farm during the week, hijacking mum's oven.
totally worth it though, i had missed fresh crusty sourdough SO much! can not wait to get my oven back up to scratch (note to self: chase up with electrician tomorrow!)
this guy.
chasing sunbeams, on the one patch of bed sheet he could get to.
cutie pie.
and another look at those little birdies from last week.
so so SO adorable!
what have you been up to this week? care to share some snippets too?

sunday snippets.
playing along with {tinniegirl} and her sunday snippets.
a few pictures, and some words, summing up the week that just was.
friday night was spent at finder's keepers and it was the PERFECT way to end the working week. it was lovely to swan around, saying hey to people i knew and checking out everyone's amazing wares. there seemed to be quite a few completely new stalls which was awesome!
post market fun, myself did a friend, headed into the city to grab some dinner...
i had been wanting to go to broth'l since they opened their doors. the idea of a zero waste restaurant is awesome and very well executed.
i loved every second of the experience, trying out kombucha for the first time, and getting to watch our dinner being prepared right in front of us, all the while checking out the shelves of pickles and vinegars and supplies. so awesome!
one of my purchases from the market was put to good use in the sunshine yesterday,
i planted out a bunch of watermelon seeds, and have sussed out the best place to set up the sunflowers as well (everywhere, they're going everywhere!). the beetroot will need a soaking before they go in, and also something to be planted into! i used up all my potting mix supplies repotting all of my rose cuttings, oops!
this guy was sure helpful with my gardening efforts...
jumping out at me while i was pulling weeds, scaring the absolute pants off me! so helpful!
and in slightly annoying news...
my oven is being a crank tank! 2 and a bit hours in the oven yesterday, and this is what i got! harrumph!!!
my sourdough starter has sadly gone BACK into the fridge, after months of getting used daily. not happy jan!
though maybe now i have room in my life to make my own kombucha ha ha!
what have you been up to this week? have you tried kombucha before? or made your own? did you head to finders keepers too?

sunday snippets.
playing along with {tinniegirl} and her sunday snippets.
a few pictures, and some words, summing up the week that just was.
i am so proud of this little bay tree with all it's new growth in the last couple of weeks.
just a little bigger before i start picking leaves for cooking i think. want to let it get nice and established first... and i should get through all of the store bought ones i have too i guess!
there's been lots of these kitty hugs happening lately.
sampson has been extra snuggly at the moment. particularly in the morning, normally just as i should be getting up and out of bed ha ha!
and these lily whites got their first showing of the season today.
this is about as tanned as i ever get. so you all better keep your sunnies on ok?
i've had a pretty massive week at work this week, so there haven't been a lot of pictures snapped to be honest... not ones that i haven't already posted here that is ha ha!
so instead of sharing lots of pictures, i thought i'd share a couple of cool things i'm liking at the moment too...
first up, lexi of pottymouth mama, is doing her annual frocktoberfest gig, to raise much needed cash for ovarian cancer research. it is somewhat of a silent killer, with no simple screening tests available, meaning that often it's not caught until it's too late!
there are lots of ways to donate, either by making a donation here, or there is this lovely shop partnering up with lexi to help raise funds, by donating a percentage of their sales for the whole month!
pop over and visit lexi to check out all her frocking antics, and sponsor her if you can!
i've also started reading the coletterie blog recently, and i am LOVING the round up post that sarai pens every friday. i find myself clicking most of the links as they're all so interesting to read! very cool!
ok, maybe i have one last photo...
this little guy popped out to say hello earlier today when i was moving my pots around. cute. potentially annoying and destructive, but cute ha ha!
what's happening on your sunday? what's something awesome you've read this week?
