Sunday was just as packed as Saturday...

It was a nice Sunday. Busy, but it started well and ended well. Ergo, all is well. Lols!

This morning, I had another training session at Fort Canning. The session was at 930. I left the house at 7 so I can have time for break and still make it to the venue way ahead of the starting time. Today's session was interesting as it was on peer assessment. The facilitator is a senior museum volunteer, who I know. The group today was much smaller allowing for more exchange of opinions and more opportunities to get to know each other.

From Fort Canning, I took the bus down to Somerset where I grabbed a quick lunch before heading again to the library @ Orchard. I'm so, so grateful that a library was opened in Orchard. Now, there's a place for studying/hanging out before heading to the gym for the afternoon Pump class at Paragon. I spent a good two hours at the library.

Then it was on to Paragon for Pump with Bertram, whom we (Tipz and I) christened Bae. So, this weekend was a back-to-back Pump with Bae. Thankfully, his session today was slightly not as tough as yesterday. He really is one of the best Pump instructors around.

The last agenda for the day was dinner with Mon and Richie at what is now officially our favourite Thai place - Korat Thai at Orchard Towers. Not a single time were we ever disappointed with the food. We ordered new dishes tonight - mango salad, yellow curry and tom yum fried rice. We also had dishes we've tried before - pad thai and omelette. The food never disappoints!

We skipped P.S. Cafe tonight as we all felt we were so full from dinner. It is a cool evening so we just went for a short stroll. Rich initially suggested catching a movie, but Mon has work tomorrow. We just decided we'll watch next week.

Good weekend!

Everyone's moving on..

Everyone seems to be leaving...or just moving to somewhere else.

Everyone... including one of my favourite Body Pump/Body Combat instructors. Boo!

Before the class started tonight, he made the announcement that tonight was his last Combat class for that particular sched. He added that his last day with the gym was on Monday, 24 Nov. Afterwards, he will be packing his bags and going overseas.

Where he is headed, he didn't mention.

It's just a bit sad because he is one of my fave instructors.

I intended to thank him and wish him well on his new adventure after the class ends. However, I didn't get to do it because of bad timing. Usually, he lingers in the GX studio after class. By the time I head out of the gym, that's the only time he would be heading back to the locker room.

Tonight, however, he was early at the locker room. Either that or I was moving at such a glacial pace. When I was about to head out, he was just about to hit the shower half-naked with only a towel wrapped around his waist. It felt awkward to stop him and chitchat. Haha!

There goes my chance to say buh bye and good luck! Oh, well... maybe I'll just message him on FB.

In other news, the guy replacing him is also a good one. The guy is also a confirmed... double confirmed. Lol! Quite a chatty guy. We'd say hi/hello in the gym. So now, looks like I'll be seeing more of him.

Anyway, good luck to you, RC! Thanks for being such an awesome instructor!

Pump + Combat Saturdays...

As Tipz mentioned in his blog, it turned out to be a weekend packed with activities.

First order of the weekend was a grueling Body Combat and Body Pump class.

Initially, I was doing the Combat/Pump Saturday combo solo. After awhile, Jon was finally convinced (coerced?) into spending a few hours of Saturday morning at the gym. Then, Tipz also started to make the trip to the West to join us for classes.

Last Saturday, there was another addition to our triumvirate - Jon's housemate Lara. Congratulations are in order for her because she survived the insane Combat class and managed to walked out of the class in one piece. Haha!

As much as I enjoy the classes, what I don't like is the time spent queueing to register for classes. The official policy is that registration for class is 20 minutes before it starts. However, people start forming a queue 30/40 minutes before class to ensure that they can get a spot.

I feel like it's a lot of time wasted on queueing. Good thing I have my trusted Kindle, which keeps me company during queueing. Haha!

I wish there was an app that allows gym members to register for a class. Registration for a class would only be available 30 minutes before each class. This way, no one will be signing up his/her name for all the Pump, Combat or whatever class for the entire year. I dunno how feasible this is, but I'm sure it's doable.

The Saturday routine is really something I always look forward to. One, I like the instructors for both classes. They can really motivate the class to do well. Two, I am able to put in more effort in class becase I don't have to wake up at 530AM the following day. Ergo, I don't mind uploading the weights at Pump and kicking higher at Combat.

Ommmm....

I came across this amusing photo while browsing through my Instagram feed.

It's amusing, isn't it? Hehe.

For the past few weeks (months), I've been able to go back to practicing yoga at least twice a week. Luckily, the FF next to my office has 7AM classes, which is just perfect. Dun be surprised. The class size is usually around 10 or so people, which is just right.

When PG Boy was still in Tampines, I get to practice three times a week. I would drag him out of bed on Saturday mornings so that we can attend the 10AM Hot Flow at FF Tampines. He was quite happy with the class (so was I) because the teacher was very good.

Now that he moved to a new place, I must check the yoga classes in the nearest FF branch (which I think is One George?).

Hmm, I'm glad to be able to practice yoga again. It does help in one way or another. I get to know my body more. I wish I'm more flexible. I have difficulty with folding poses. LOL. But maybe in time, it'll get better.

As Caroline, the Hot Flow instructor at FF Tampines, would usually say, "Okay, you try today. And if you can't reach it today, that's okay. You try again next time. And maybe one day, you'll be able to finally do the pose perfectly."

Keep calm and ommmm on?

Good morning....

While waiting for Body Pump class to start this morning... Hehe!

One of the big reasons I would drag myself out of bed vearly is that I get to see this. I get to see a brand new day start. I may have previously mentioned that I'm a big fan of the sunrise. Hehe!

With this kind of greatness greeting you in the morning, how can one not be hopeful that today will be an awesome day?! It really does make one hopeful and grateful, yeah?! :)

Oh, and the fact that I'm back to my weight before my Manila trip makes today even more awesome. Haha!

Abrasions...

When I showered this morning, I felt a sting right near both of my elbows.

Wondering what it was, I checked and that was when I saw that I had these abrasions.

The culprit: last night's Body Pump class. Haha!

In case you didn't know, this week is International Fitness Week in Singapore.

Fitness First has a series of activities to celebrate the event.

Last night's Body Pump class was a special edition.

In addition to the usual one-hour class, there was another 40-plus minutes of core strength exercies.

I've been attending Body Pump for quite a while now. It was Ian who intro'd me to the class. I was telling him how I'm too lazy to lift weights or use the machines when I'm at the gym. He reco'd I attend Body Pump.

Since then, I've been trying to attend at least one class each week. It's not enough, but better to have one than none at all. Hehe!

Anyway, the abrasion wasn't from the Body Pump class but from the core strength. I'm sure of that.

We spent almost the entire time on the mat in plank position.

Endorphins plus adrenalin plus feeling very tired (or very happy?) equals not noticing that I had the abrasions. Hehe!

Oh well, last night was definitely a good workout. The abrasions are nothing.
