Twins up for Adoption

Since my last post on finding a dog a home was so successful, I have taken the liberty to assume responsibility on advertising for a new home for these two white babies here.

2 Female Puppies were abandoned in rover trail in Negeri Sembilan on Hari Raya weekend. They are now up and running thanks to my sister's patients in nursing them back to life. I believe, the Dr. Doolittle-ness runs in the family. Puppies seem to be of full of life and character. Will be awesome as a pair, regardless if you have kids or other pets. If interested in an additional member to your family, please send a message to Michael Foong on fb: http://www.facebook.com/mfoong.

It would also be deeply appreciated if you could spread the word around to expedite the adoption process of the pups. The faster they get into a new foster home, the better!

Gathering of Great Minds

Tim Fernandez never fails to impress me on his efforts of creating awesome social networking seminars and talks. Inspirational indeed.

Vashal, me and Risha

Alan and Risha :-)

Today I attended the Gathering of Great Minds and was blown out of my seat by some speakers especially Tan Sri who's sarcasm and indirect attacks on Questions posed to him were so daring and admirable. I wish I dared to tell people who ask Questions for the sake of asking, off like that! It made the rest re-think and reconstruct their answers definitely.

I particularly loved what Faridah Merican said that should be bourn in the minds of the public: "To buy is to Create". That's the only way to curb the struggling creativity of actors and performers in the creative arts industry. Everyone needs to support each other.

Then Mr. Dunn took stage and thought us a stress releasing exercise that eventually leads to a youthful life and prevents diseases. Awesome!!

This was the first part to the Gathering of Great Minds. Two more series to come! I highly recommend all to go! :-)

ATMAH Treasure Hunt to Cameron Highlands...

Here are some of my own, and some stolen pictures from the others that were on the trip…

For a better and more comprehensive brief of the treasure hunt, please refer to Evo's recap :)

Serenity at its best… Cameron Highlands. At least we had nice weather, great company and lots of fun so we cant complain about losing the hunt. I'm now thinking of kiasu Mei Ying who wont let the hunt go coz she cant bear the thought of losing that badly. She now wants to organize her own hunts! I'll join!! I know how the woman thinks, so its a sure win for me :P

The cam-whore divas. Always a pleasure to meet new people… especially when they're gonna teach you how to salsa~!!

Our departure from the hotel: time to meet - breakfast time. People who turned up: Claudia and Mei Ying (everyone else was asleep -.-) Departure time: 11am - everyone was there except Claudia & Mei Ying (they went back to sleep :D ).

I guess you cant go to Cameron Highlands without having a standard pop out of a tea plantation pose...

This is Evo's wide angle shot. Lovely… he managed to fit everyone in.

This was taken before the treasure hunt started. Mei Ying is basically telling Evo that she'll be waiting for him at the finishing line… this was when we thought we were actually gonna win.

And last, but not least… another one of Mei Ying's bright ideas: "Take my picture here, I am so gonna tag Ajay in this one on facebook". I cant believe I agreed to this. Totally regretting ever taking this picture after seeing the facebook comments.

The little things count

How many times have you heard yourself say, I'll do charity and have never gotten down to doing it so you comfort yourself in saying "I contribute my earnings through donations, and I give away old clothes once a year" to qualify yourself as a caring charitable individual.

Christy is a little of an extremist I must say but I applaud her dedication as I do not know of anyone else who is able to sacrifice so much for the lesser privileged children.

It is however easier than you think to do a little more than to give 10% from your earnings to church or donate your unwanted clothes annually. You just have to get the right people involved.

Last saturday, we threw a party for the Burmese refugee children. Surprisingly, there were as many adult volunteers as there were children whom attended the pool party.

Sanjeev gathered his fellow rotracteers to join in on the fun.
What we did was catered food and it only costs us RM25 per adult person and that took care of your own meal and the childs' too! See, it didn't cost a fortune now did it?! And the out come of the event was priceless...

Food was catered with the courtesy of Alex Martin and he bakes fabulous chocolate cakes!! I think us adults enjoyed desert as much as the kids.
Most of the kids had not tasted spaghetti in their lives and didnt know what the Bolognese sauce was meant for. There's always a first time for everything and the feeling of accomplishment of having contributed to one's first time experience is overwhelming and cannot be described by mere words.
The shot above was taken by the nation's most renowned photographer Andy Kho. The image of this little girl is a one of chance! I guess she must have spotted the chocolate cake!
The cake above was baked by Alex Martin and it was mouth watering! please remember that i want this cake for my birthday next year..!

This picture is courtesy of Susan Ng. Nice job, Susan!

It aint a party unless we have toys! The adults worked hard while reconciling with our inner childhood days, blowing bubbles, balloons and playing with the kids. We have Sue Lynn, Hakim, and Susan full spirit in the above pictures :p

Love the colours in the above shot btw, Kudos Susan!

The kids definitely enjoyed the meal… and it was definitely worth more than RM25. I wish more people gathered and did things like this more often so the kids do not grow up missing out of their childhood fun.
At the end of the day, its the little things that count and when you see the smiles on their faces light up, the feeling of satisfaction is so immense, its beyond this world. They say God shows himself to you in the presence of others, so why dont we portray Him more often?

Most of these children have their United Nations card and are waiting to be transferred to their new homes in countries such as the United States, Australia, New Zealand for a better life. Why dont we make their temporary stay in Malaysia one worth remembering!

If you wish to hold similar activities and help out in any way you can, please visit the Satrt foundation located at Jalan Gasing, Petaling Jaya and log on to: http://www.start.org.my/ to see what you can do to offer!

Remember, its the little things that count!

Cicak scared off my voice!

So i finally get to have a quiet sit-down with my sister from another mother, Christy. We have both been so busy lately, we barely speak over the phone! Pietro joined us at Delicious and I ended up being the only one pigging out.

We managed to keep the venting and bitchin' to a bare minimal so we wouldn't scare off the male.

I call these two the makeup-less, eye-brow less, t-shirt wearing girls' night out.

The night ended with Christy sending P and I to our car park after walking her to safely to her car. The woman started screaming after she saw a lizard fall on her window of the passenger's seat where i was seated. Normally, I am not afraid of anything that walks on fours but I guess she started the screaming cycle which I joined in without even knowing why she was screaming.

We screamed so loudly and I had to jump to the driver's side to flee from her cicak-mobile. P had to come to the rescue and shoo the poor innocent baby gecko away.

Scream saver

What we learnt from the whole incident is that, despite what happened to Canny Ong, no security came to inquire or to even check on why there were two very highly-pitched screaming girls in a car park.

Problem is now, my soar-throat worsened due to the screaming and I may not have any voice to cheer at the stand-up comedy session at zouk tomorrow night! and I was supposed to go support my friend Ajay -.-

I always wanted to do this to someone… that someone just so happened to be Christy. Poor thing, she still can smell chocolate cake today.

Stuck on Level 1

Mei Ying, Rebecca, Irene and I had dinner plans and plans to catch a stand up comedy act yesterday at La Boudega, Telawi.

"i'm super woman!!"

We were supposed to meet at 730pm for dinner and move over to La Boudega thereafter. 6pm I am still stuck in traffic.

When I finally reached home at 6.10pm, I parked, rushed to my lift, pressed the 17th floor and waiting to go up. Then I realized the DOVER brand lift was not moving and the button for "17" was not lit anymore. So, I pressed it again. It didn't light up. The lift indicated I was still on the first floor. So I rang the alarm and pressed the "call" button on the lift.

Took the dude on the other side 10 minutes to actually come on the intercom. At that point I wished lifts had reception.

When the dude finally came on the intercom, he seemed more in a panicked state than I was. Little did I know, I was the first one to ever get stuck in the lifts in my apartment. Seems like there's a first time for everything… however, it wasn't quite of an adventure as I was the guinea pig.

I tried sending out tons of texts and tried making phone calls via my mobile hoping that I could at least get like ONE miracle bar of reception. Nada!

My first text was to practically everyone in my phone book, filled with curses and angry shouts of frustration. The message got booted back. Thank God! Then the second text went out with less curses and to less people… By the time I drafted maybe my tenth text, it sounded quite nice and it had included a pinch of legal advice to my parents urging them to sue if I die of suffocation or get brain damage from lack of oxygen.

I was stuck in the lift alone for 40 minutes or more but who was counting? Good thing I had my novel tucked away in my bag to keep me company =)

By the time the rescuers came, I was seated on the floor of the lift reading my novel. They laughed at how relaxed I was (they had no idea)! So I took a picture of my superhero in a helmet who seemed more pleased to come to the rescue than I was being rescued.

my super heroes hahaha!

Naturally, I was late for dinner, lost my appetite to eat and I did sorta suffer brain damage as I am kinda experiencing short-term-memory loss now. I told the getting stuck in the lift story twice to the same group of people in less than a 10 minutes span of time apart.

Considering suing.

Funny People in my life

scene 1: At work (like a year ago but I just remembered it)

me: babe, how do you fill up this form?
Geetha (my best friend who makes me laugh): LALATlah!
me: huh?
Geetha (my best friend who makes me laugh): LIKE THAT (pointing at something)
me: OMG so what is "like this" in your language?…. LALIT?
Geetha (my best friend who makes me laugh): arrgghhh~!!!

That's me my funny girl, Geetha!

moral of the story: Don't mess with her when she's busy, just carry a dictionary with you. We're currently in the process of editing Volume 1 of Geetha's dictionary.

Scene 2: It just happened today while I was having dinner… phone rings

josh: I think I am going to stop drinking.
me: good for you!
josh: Gotta get on the wheel!
me: I think you mean wagon. >.<

That's funny man Joshua Rao!
(disclaimer: he's actually one of the smartest people I know despite what the text about him might infer)

Now you see why I'm always so happy?! I lead a life filled with comedians.

Keep it up people!! I might be able to write a book on these things one day (after editing Geetha's dictionary of course).
