This blog is about my private venture into having Mr. John (Poshgoblin) Pickford doing me a small range of 28mm dwarf miniatures that will fulfill my personal need for more dark, sinister and vicious dwarfs.

February releases

The Ewal Knights are still awaiting a production stage but to keep you warm the following miniatures came out hot of a new production mould.

EB-01 Arnórr - Ewal Beserkr
A single piece miniature with separate head. Comes with 3 different head-options. The miniature is sculpted by John "Poshgoblin" Pickford

EDP-20 Finngálkin - Ewal Dvergr Centaur
A multi part miniature with 2 separate heads - bull's helmet and a horse visor helmet one. The miniature comes with 3 different hand weapons (mace, axe and hammer). Also included is a plain shield. The miniature has been sculpted by John "Poshgoblin" Pickford

EDX-90 Dvergr Mountaineer
A single piece miniature with a pair of skis - just because it's that kind of season up here in the North. Will do great guarding the Northern Borders of the realm. The miniature is sculpted by myself.

Spacefarers, Pirates and Adventurers
The last piece is something rather new to me and is a Space Pirate:

The miniature is called Rana Geil and were originally sculpted for the the 2014 Frother's Sculpting Compatition: "Froth Eisley - A Hive of Froth and Villainy" by Sjoerd Trowee.

One step closer - wave 3

Yesterday, master casts finally arrived from the UK. They all look real great, but rather than just tell about let me show you:

First, all the new pieces done by John Pickford and we'll start with the new set of Ewal Dvergar, Core Warriors with guns.

This set will replace the current Grenadiers, and the new set will be a set of 8 miniatures - 2 of each of the following poses:

EDC-04 Core Warriors with guns
Gunner 1 (single piece sculpt)
To make up for the fixed head - they will come with the choice of 3 different visors

The next 3 have separate sallets/helmets (just like the crossbowmen) - but for the purpose of photographing, each one is represented with a helmet.

Gunner 2

Gunner 3

Gunner 4

And here are the 8 sallets that will be added to the new set:

The 8 different heads for the Ewal Dvergar with guns

Add-on Helmets
Some will remember that 12 heads were made. The following 4 heads will go into a separate add-on head set - and will make great characters for both gunners and crossbowmen.

Helmet add-on set

Next on is the alternative drummer. Will also be moulded with the choice of 2 different visors.

EDC-11 Drummer #2

2 different visors (Visors can also be used with the Gunner 1)

The Son's of Siegward

The last 3 are the awesome Son's of Siegward - all sculped by Sjoerd Trouwee.

SOS-01 Grinner Dragarm

SOS-02 Sanqis Bigleap

SOS-03 Branding Hyld

Now, they just need a bit of cleaning and I have to look at the mould layouts and then they are going back for the next step - production moulding.

The Son's of Siegward

When a dvergr is exposed to evil powers and welcomes it, he'll soon be commanded to join the forces of the Ewal Lord. If he proves himself loyal and if he fights furiously and hard enough he might even climb the ranks of the Ewal Dvergar and will then be joining the veteran warriors. These veteran warriors, who have been rewarded with the best armour and weaponry, are the elite forces of any Ewal Dvergar army.

However, the most fanatic and violent amongst the Ewal Dvergar will try seek their Lord's blessing - but only a very few will survive that. Should they succeed, they will often been assigned as company commander or appointed Ewal Dvergr Champion. But to some, that is not enough. Some, are willing to pay the ultimate price becoming favoured by their Lord. Such warriors are gifted with unbelievable powers for the price of their soul. These warriors are knowed as The Son's of Siegward.

Son's of Siegward: Grinner Dragarm

Son's of Siegward: Sanqis Bigleap

Son's of Siegward: Branding Hyld

All 3 miniatures are sculpted by fantastic Sjoerd Trouwee. All will be sent out for mastering within the new few days and then added to a planned characters mould - being made late spring 2015.

Sweyn by Mikkel Nyboe

And for my private collection, Mikkel Nyboe (@Gurer - the blog) did this wonderful Sweyn.

Sweyn, Ewal Dvergr Champion

Mikkel has commented the painting on his own blog - so if you want to read about - you should stop by.

Personally, I love it - colour scheme is "all me". Those that have seen my own works at the Clamshell-blog will now that I'm a sucker for Red and Green dwarfs - and I think, Mikkel managed to pick everything out in a nice balanced way on this beautiful sculpt by Sjoerd Trouwee.

Thanks, Mikkel :)

New stuff

And finally .... all the new items has arrived and are now sorted, packed and ready to ship :-)

So what do we have?

First, of course, the long awaited new set of multi part core warriors by John Pickford. This time we went for a set with great weapons/two-handed weapons/two hand weapons

Ewal Dvergar, Core Warriors - set #2

As you can see there are again 4x2 bodies - 8 bodies in total. 10 heads and 14 weapon options + a shield.

Oppose to set #1 this set doesn't allow you as much option to pick and choose as set #1 did - as some options are build for specific poses - but still lots of different builds:

  • 2x2 bodies are in a classic pole weapon position. 7 weapons are sculpted for this pose in mind - 5 spears/halberds, a pole axe and Scythe.
  • Two identical bodies with a raised arm that allows you to build a warrior with a wooden hammer and one with a great sword, and last
  • another two identical bodies meant for the dual hand weapon - option. The options are 2 swords (right and left hand), 2 demonic hammers (right and left hand) and a right handed double bladed axe and a left hand shield. This body could also be used with any right hand pole weapons.

And then I'm really happy being able to give Sjoerd Trouwee's fantastic pieces a home.

There are 2 and a half miniature out - a Champion called Sweyn and the Captain twins, Olaf & Oluf.

Sweyn, is a big feller accompanied by his faithful war dog, Tor. Sweyn is armed with a huge Scythe.

The twin-Captains are two identical miniatures - but one is armoured with a huge hammer and a shield, the other with a gun and a bomb in his hand - I present Olaf & Oluf:

And last I'm pleased to announce that all previous miniatures are now available again - including the very popular Johann. Even me own rather weak try at sculpting "the Grenadiers" are back - including this new variant set:
