3 to Inspire with Leigh

Hello friends! Leigh here, with my last project as a Citrus Twist Kits Design Team member. I have loved working with the gorgeous and exclusive kits, and the CTK Sketches are the best!

Here are the three items for today's challenge:
1) tulle
2) staples
3) puffy stickers

We got lots of puffy stickers in our kits, so I thought now would be a good time to use them. The title above is a puffy sticker too. I like that the circles in the background paper repeat the shape of the ornaments I hand-lettered for our tree.

Here is a close up to try to show the tulle on this page. I know it is hard to see, but I cut three to four circles and layered them and stapled them off-set over the printed circles on the background paper.

I cut tags from the kit paper and layered them over the black and white American Crafts text paper in the background. The tag on the far right has some type-written journaling, and the title goes below that. Splash on some splatters, if you like.

Another close shot of the tulle layers and the staples. Thank you for joining me today, and I can't wait to see how you use the three items in this challenge.

Hugs,
Leigh

Sunday Sketch with Leigh

Hello Crafty Friends! Leigh here, to share my take on the Sunday Sketch.

The idea for a few pleated pumpkins came to me when I purchased a new punch, and saw it upside down in the bag. The ballon shape looked like a pumpkin when turned upside down. A photo of our Pomeranian in his Halloween costume seemed fitting for this page.

Before adhering the punched pumpkins, I stitched a line down to each one from the top of the page. Close up shows the basket portion, and I turned it into a stem by punching it from contrasting papers in the kit. You can glue the tiny bits on with a fine line glue pen.

The photo in black and white helped the color scheme to stand out.  Layers of tags, and fussy cut papers went behind the photo. Some dimensional foam helped the photo to stand out a little more.

Some scattered stars and stapled bits coordinate with the cut-aparts in this month's kit. I stitched the triangular scraps to the bottom of the layout.

Here is your Sunday Sketch! Will you have a go?

Thanks for joining us today,
Leigh

Sunday Sketch | Gina + Leigh

Hi everyone, Gina and Leigh here today, sharing our projects with you based on this fun sketch!

We hope you can play along as well this week, we'd love to see your take on this sketch. To enter the challenge, post your project in the CTK gallery and/or Facebook Group page with today's date (Oct 8) in the title

First up is my take.. this layout was created with the beautiful Good Vibes main kit.  I've followed the sketch pretty closely apart from at the base of the layout.  I've also added in a couple of journal tabs and stamped on them.

I've used a foam pop dot under the star die-cut for added dimension

I'm absolutely loving the "perfect" stamp in the main kit stamp set,  it's going to be a go-to fave for sure!

Thanks for visiting and Happy Sunday all!
Gina x

I'll hand you over to Leigh Ann to share her lovely project..

My "Sweet Things Season" layout is pretty close to the sketch. I added strips of the colorful patterned paper to the top and bottom of the layout and kept the embellishment areas like the sketch.

I used most of the frames from the Pink Paislee Turn the Page die cut pack to form an interlocking frame backdrop for the photo. Frames were added to the other two embellishment clusters to unite the page. I had fun stamping the kit stamp sentiments in bright colors that coordinate with the page

I stitched through the kit alpha, and love the different colours included in the pack

Close up view of the groupings on this page. Staples and stickers and labels from the kit create some interest.
Thanks to Gina for letting me join in this Sunday Sketch today:)

Sunday Sketch With Leigh

Hello Friends! Leigh, here, with a belated post for this past Sunday, the 17th. Sorry, friends!

A coffee house graphic inspired this page. and I punched several of the patterned papers from the kit with small scale punches.

September 17th Sunday Sketch.

Since I chose a complementary (colors opposite each other on the color wheel) color scheme, I used a lot of neutral black and white on the layout. I love the Citrus Twist Kits sketches, and they make designing a page effortless.

The close up shows how I layered the punched pieces and the green patterned paper (the B side of the Maggie Holmes Carousel "Sweets" paper) from the kit was used for the leafy bits.

Followed the sketch pretty closely and added the typed journaling strips under the Pinkfresh Studio Die Cut.

The photo layers were created with a label from the cut apart sheet, leafy punched bits again, and the red-orange paper from Pinkfresh Studio "Escape the Ordinary" collection.

Thank you for visiting today!
Hugs,
Leigh

In My Studio with Leigh

Hello friends! Leigh here with an In My Studio post featuring how I organize my Citrus Twist Kits for use in my craft room. As soon as I get a new kit, I clear off the desk in the center of my room. Beginning with a clean desk and my new CTK kit, gives me a fresh focus.

By having the new CTK as the only thing on my desk, I can see color schemes and begin to piece together a theme for my page. This one is very floral and girly since it is about me and my two sisters.

That ticket stub was perfect for part of my title, because it had been eight years since we were in the same room together!

I used the heart from the stamp set in this month's kit to create the flower centers, and fussy cut them out to bring more of the black color to another layer.

The Main Scrapbook kit for August 2017, Photo Booth, is here in the kit section of the Citrus Twist Kits Store!

Thank you for visiting today!

Leigh

Tuesday Tutorial With Leigh

Welcome to the Tuesday Tutorial! Leigh here with a layout and process video

I went retro with the metal rimmed tags, and pretty papers from the Add-on Kit. This layout is based on the Sunday November 22, 2015 Citrus Twist Kit Sketch here .

Punch circles to use with or without the metal rimmed tags, and add color coordinated embellishments on top of a few of them.

Pick a patterned paper for the top and bottom of your page. TIP: you can use the six by six paper on a bigger layout. Just trim two pieces to the same width and fold over one of them to look like a pleat.

Close up of the shaker circle tag I created with the seashell print from the six by six paper in the kit, and thin strips of foam tape, some glitter, and punched star shapes.

Add the word stickers from the kit and a date, and the fun chipboard sunglasses from the kit too!

Thank you for visiting,
Leigh.

Sunday Sketch with Leigh

Hello friends, Leigh here to share a Sunday Sketch for today.
The Mermaid Add-on Kit this month is awash in sun-bleached, gorgeous summer colors.

A rainbow of embroidery floss was used to match the beautiful kit colors.

I had so much fun choosing little die cuts and bits to place along the different colors of stitched rays.

Close up to show the hand-stitched floss and variety of pretty kit embellishments.

I cut the die cut apart to feature the words I wanted for the title. "Mermaid Hair" was perfect for this photo of my daughter's hair this summer.

I layered a die cut frame, surfboard, and polka-dot mat from the six by six paper pad in the kit, under the photo, and raised it up on foam dots.

Aren't the colors in the Mermaid Add-on Kit for July 2017 so beautiful? It is the perfect kit with so many options for creating in your Traveler's Notebooks, Planners, and paper crafting projects this summer.

Thank you for joining us today, and happy crafting,
Leigh

In My Studio with Leigh

Hello crafty friends! I am so excited to reveal my new craft room, and share my creative space with you.

We just moved in and I have been working hard to get my craft room up and running. I did all the design and installation myself, except for the Sugar Paper LA desk above, that my husband helped me with.

This craft room is smaller than my previous room, but my gold striped pegboard DIY project is still definitely a necessity. I used the new Heidi Swapp Gold Foil Flakes to foil the "Shine" word from Hello Heidi Wall Art line.

The view from the doorway as you enter the room. For my craft room to work for me, I need to have separate stations or zones for each step in the creation process. The desk along the back wall features:
  • Computer zone for editing and printing photos and using the Silhouette Machine
  • Sewing and Heidi Swapp Minc machine station
  • often used supplies on the pegboard
  • Citrus Twist Kits Design Team binders and schedules
  • printing supplies stored near printer
The Sugar Paper LA desk from Target in the center of the room features:
  • We R Memory Keepers Typecast Typewriter
  • this month's CTK kit in the drawers
  • adhesives and paper trimmers in the drawers

The back left plastic drawers hold paper scraps by color, and the wire cart next to it holds the Minc Foils and Bible Journaling supplies.

Inside the room looking back at the door, you can see my planning and Traveler's Notebook Station along that wall. Everything in the Michael's wall organizers above the desk is used for planning and Traveler's Notebook specific tasks. This planning and TN station features:
  • daily hand lettering supplies like brush pens and Rhodia paper pads
  • planner stamps and inks
  • small scale punches
  • labels
  • page flags and Post-it Notes
  • favorite travel washi
  • rotary stamps
  • planners and TN's
  • monthly planning kit subscriptions

Close up of the wall organizers. You can see my bullet proof( aka water proof ) Noodler's Inks for fountain pens, and travel related stamps.

All my planner pens and highlighters are close by in the Michael's pen/marker storage, and some clear dollar store bins.

Love the Heidi Swapp wall words, and I spray painted this one with my favorite gold spray paint by Rustoleum (from Wal-mart). Ikea Kallax unit here for scrapbook supplies. Lots of Heidi Swapp goodness here as well as past Citrus Twist Kits in large plastic storage bags inside the white bins.

The closet holds tools and embellishments, and extra supplies like adhesives and paper trimmer blades. All my Project Life supplies are also stacked in here. I have white curtains and am waiting on the other half of my curtain rod to show up so I can hang them. :)

Inspiration wall above the computer.

Details:
Wall paint: Sherwin Williams Amazing Gray
Floors: Dal-tile Porcelain tile River Marble in Silver Springs 12x24 size
Modular Desks: Pottery Barn
Desk Lamp: West Elm
Clear plastic storage bins: Target( aqua lids) and Michael's

Thank you so much for stopping by to see my room reveal today!
Hugs, Leigh

Sunday Sketch with Leigh

Welcome to our Sunday Sketch! Leigh here, to share a pretty literal interpretation of the sketch because the sketch is so great! Thank you to Michelle Wedertz for creating these.

Using the June Boardwalk Scrapbook Kit and the Embellishment kit, I stayed true to the sketch. I love the centered grid and the spots for embellishment, well really, I  love everything about this sketch!

The sketch for today.

The turquoise boots are the main focal point of the photo, so I chose the complementary (opposite on the color wheel) orange for the embellishment on my page. There are so many options to choose from in the June embellishment kit.

Add your favorite embellishments behind and on top of the squares, and you have a quick to complete page done in a jiffy.

Thanks for joining us today, and happy crafting.
