Strut your Cuts Week 3! Plus Jacob has arrived home just in time!

Strut your Cuts challenge this week on Scrappy Go Lucky blog is to use any of these cartridges:  Shall we dance
(Circle exclusive), Pumpkin Carving, Inspired Heart,Wall Decor and More and B is for Boy.

LOVE the chandelier cut from Wall Decor so I made a card for a special GF of mine who lights up rooms every time she enters them.

I used such a simple cut and design but it looks fantastic with a little glitter chalk behind... and after all the i-rocking I have done this week, you would think I wouldn't... but I did! Such cute little crystal Glam Rocks make the chandelier look awesome! The pic below shows the sparkly!

Speaking of sparkly... guess who arrived home just in time for Australia Day AND also just in time to show off my new Copic pen holder I made... Jacob and Clippy!
Jacob made it safe all the way from LB Cool Beans in Illinois... Clippy and Jacob are having a little R&R then heading off on another world tour soon! Jacob looked at my new scrap zone and sighed...

" The pretty zone... Ergh. I want to be among the ladies at LB's, the Cougar from Donnas and Frankie in Hawaii... not showing off sparkly things! "
He is keeping his bags packed.

Thanks Scrappy Go Lucky for a great challenge! I'll try to get in earlier next week rather than right on the deadline!

Imaginisce dot painting and I- (really do) Rock,

Hi Everyone!
I am so excited to show you this project. I have spent
9 hours in total (3 weeks worth of relaxing craft while putting children to sleep at night).

It is made completely with i-rock Glam rocks and Hot rocks.
And a few battery changes in my I-rock!
Isn't she gorgeous!
Most fitting, her name is Sparkles.
She is a digital stamp from Stitchy Bear Stamps.
When I was teaching in a remote town of Western Australia, the Aboriginal Elders there taught me dot painting skills.
Here is a large one I painted in my son's toy room.

As soon as I saw the i-rock, I wanted to make a canvas covered in i-rock Glam rocks and Hot Rocks as a dot painting and just had to wait till my collection of them grew until I had enough...

I have used most of Imaginisce's awesome ranges, including the raindrops and squares.

The great thing about the i-rock is you can use Copic markers to colour the clear crystal ones if you
need extra colours.

There is quite an art to Dot Painting. You colour the background first using shading, then you have to ensure the dots are placed evenly spaced in contrasting colours so that they show up against the changing background.
It takes a lot of planning to get it right.

I wrapped the Glam rocks and Hot Rocks around the canvas on the edges too.

She turned out gorgeous. I love her.
It will hang in my local shop 'The Stampers Den' for a while, as the Stampers Den now stocks the i-rock and all the accessories.

She's just too pretty to hide in my house.
Thanks for a great product Imaginisce and
making our world sparkle brighter!

Scrappy Go Lucky 'Strut your Cuts' challenge.

Scrappy Go Lucky's has started an awesome competition called 'Strut your Cuts' to provide motivation and inspiration to use all your cartridges! If you are anything like me with a 'healthy' (*NB) collection... this challenge is for you!

This week use any one of the following cartridges:
New Arrivals, Jasmine, Songbird, Sweet treats, Lite Sweet Shop. If you own NONE of the week’s featured cartridges  you may use up to 5 of the following: Gypsy Wanderings, Gypsy font, Craft Room basics, George, Don Juan, Plantin Schoolbook, Accent Essentials or whatever electronic cartridge came pre-loaded on your machine if you have the E2.

I used Songbird (2011 font).  I also used Songbird to cut the nested frames, stretching and resizing them on my Gypsy.
I used New arrivals (plane plus accessories) from the list, then I threw in a tree cut from Cindy Loo. I also used Paper Dolls to cut the clouds. The paper and elements are from Echo Park's 'Jacks Playground' collection.
*************************************************************************
Oh NO! I didn't read the rules in it's entirety! Speed reading does me no good sometimes. You are only meant to use those carts on the list and no others. EEEEEEKKK!!!!

So for Skipping to my Cindy Loo with my head in the Paper Doll clouds... I'm out!  Oh well. At least you all get to learn from my boo's. DON'T use other cuts from other carts!
*************************************************************************
Competition closes 7th Jan 23:59 Western Australian Standard time - join me on the Scrappy Go Lucky blog in using all your carts this year!

*NB * 'healthy' - in this context meaning insanely over-the-top ridiculously addicted to carts.

All that Jazz.

Hi All!  Yep. Still here.

Merry Xmas, Happy New Year and all that jazz. Sorry I missed the parties. I was having a bloggy break and to be honest I am going to be borrrrring blogger this year... I'll the busiest lady this side of the equator!

Anywayssss, moved into my new house and I made my Dymo labeller work so hard yesterday... you will see some snap shots eventually of my new super uber organised scrap zone...oooooo it's pretty.

But for now, a sneak peak into my garden...

So I road-tested my new scrap zone and made a gorgeous shadow box to display my latest layouts on my wall HOWEVER the boxy part of the shadow box is ONE millimetre too small each side for a 12 x 12! GAH!!!! I will have to find something to display in it.
I used Bo Bunny Enchanted paper, some white shabby chic embellishments I found at Inspired Crafts.

I cut the gate out of Ornamental Iron cartridge and strengthened it with double sided adhesive chipboard, which cut like a DREAM!  (Found that at Custom Crops).

THEN *PAT N* Guess What??? I used the Close to my Heart Art Philosophy cartridge!!!!! I made the rolled flowers behind the gate.

PROOF:
Wooooo!!!! I did something with it. LOVE that cart.

Next I used Japanese Washi Tape from Sawyers Place. The Regal Damask from their Ophelia collection.
It is a simple, yet gorgeous way to cover the sides of the shadow box perfectly with no loose paper bits. Washi tape is my favourite option for chipboard coverage. Plus the designs that Sawyers Place make all match up perfectly so you can layer them side by side to make one mass that look like expensive paper glued on anyway!

I am on school holidays at the moment. *Bliss* So my stalkers followers are very lucky that I will be back tomorrow with my entry for 'Strut your Cuts'  challenge on at Scrappy Go Lucky.

HOT BLOG HOP UPDATE!!!!
Jacob had so much fun with LB Cool Beans and her bevvy of Barbies that he is coming home for a bit of R&R.
(oooo LB, I spy dymo labelling at your house too!)

Well, he is really coming home to celebrate Australia Day with all of us Aussies. He doesn't want to miss that big party! Then early in 2012, he will head back off again to see Kate from Ontario, The Crafty Cow from the Eastern states of Australia and Michelle from Western Australia... plus a few more in between. So little time, so many scrap rooms to see!

No time to hang and chat! I have sleep to get done. 5 hours of it. We had a flash mob in Lego land today. So many photos to scrap after all the crazy lego fun!

Camping Critter Challenge with Curt Jensen

Curt Jensen is running a monthly Cartridge Challenge
over on his blog Typecast Creative.
This month challenge is to make a
project with his Campin Critters cart.

If you have been around my blog for a while,
then you have seen the famous train table...

Well, this month, we took Thomas the Tank Engine
on an adventure camping with some new critters!

The teddies got busy setting up the tents.

Pooh Bear, the Camp Leader gave all the directions.

Then the teddies heard a whisper that there was a
teddy bear's picnic in the forest nearby.

They jumped on the nearest train and followed the signs.

They arrived at the forest just in time for lunch.

They ignored the ranger's sign and ate everything in the picnic basket.

 *sound of kids singing...*
If you go down to the woods today... etc...

And that's the way the teddy bears have their pic...nic.

Swiper the Fox told them all to go jump in the lake.
Good idea Swiper!
There were lots of fish to be caught at the lake.

We used round paper clips for fish eyes and used REAL DIAL SIZE on the cricut to make the fish layer 3 inches.
Then we made a fishing rod with a magnet.

The teddy bears and my spunky monkeys spent ages
fishing happily at the lake.

I love that some cute paper shapes can
ignite children's imaginations and
send them into a world of fun.

Please note L.B. - Overuse of dotty My Minds eye paper for the ground... hahahaha... that's a whole lot of pages.

While they got lost in Campin world, I made lots of
"We Have Moved" cards for our upcoming
move into our new home.
So excited to be packing boxes again!
NOT.

But I am excited that this will
be my last move in a long time!

Our new home will watch my kids grow and grow.
Because these treasured days of cute boys, wild worlds, Campin Critters and Thomas adventures won't last forever.
 Unfortunately.
I wish I could freeze time today
with the sound of their little giggles as
they caught another fish.
I used the weld function on my gypsy to join two shadowed cars (one flipped) so that it made a shaped card.

Thanks Curt at Typecast Creative for a fun challenge!
