Centre Step Cards

I was experimenting with a centre step card last week and was extremely happy with the result.  I followed a tutorial on YouTube but unfortunately I cannot find the link (I will update the post if I can find it to give credit where it is due)

UPDATE:  This is the link to make the step card -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAyFwBQh8-g

The instructions were to use a pre-folded card base and Kaisercraft collectibles pack, and boy was it easy.

This was my first card, pretty pinks

The second card was in blues and gave a different effect altogether

Both these cards are being donated to the Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer fund raising.  The group of ladies that I craft with usually make about 50 cards for the committee to sell.  It is a great opportunity to help a good cause and try many new card ideas.

I can imagine Christmas cards, birthday cards etc using this technique.

Happy crafting

Simple Card

Just a simple little Christmas card today, using Washi tape.  I have a lot of washi tape in my supplies and want to find ways to use it.

Look closely at the next photo, can you see a little head snuggled in the blanket.  My pup Cindy will not wear a dog coat, however loves to snuggle up in her blanket.

This was taken in the early hours of the morning when the temperature was very cold.  She does sleep inside but it still gets quite chilly..

Looking forward to spring days

Stamped cards

I love playing with stamps when making my cards.

The top two cards use stamps by Darkroom Door, an Australian company.  The detail in the dream catcher and motor bike are wonderful.

The bottom card was a trial using a tab cutout for the opening.  I should have taken a photo of the inside, however, I didn't :)

More to add to my card supply.  I will definitely be making more cards using these stamps

Lovely weekend

I had a lovely weekend away with my sisters.  Just a girls weekend, lots of love and laughter.
We stayed at a beautiful apartment on Lake Mulwala, this was the scene from our door.  Stunning

At dusk the lake was magical and this black swan made the perfect backdrop to the ripples in the water.

Alas, back to reality today, and back to work.  But great memories and fun times.

Birthday card

This birthday card was CAS from Pinterest.  It uses Couture Creations Sea Breeze collection lighthouse, Dress It Up Buttons (seagull & boat).  Great texture on this card.

I am having so much fun making cards - another three already in the planning stage.  I think I have forgotten how to use my sewing machine, ha ha

Masculine cards

I quite often hear and read about people having trouble making cards for males.  I do not have the same trouble as I have a lot of stamps that I can use.

The following two cards were created using Darkroom Door Classic Motorcycle stamp set and Kaisercraft Checker Plate embossing folder.

I love the way they turned out. What do you think|?

Another two Christmas cards

I have made another two Christmas cards using the Kaisercraft Christmas Jewels paper and collectibles.  I love this mauve colour.

Very simple cards, using a Memory Box Open Studio collage die for the accents.

Till next time.

No craft - but cute puppy

Unfortunately I have not been crafting the last couple of weeks.  Lots of new products needed to be added to the online store.  However a couple of photos to show off my pup, Cindy.  She is nearly 18 months old now and is growing quite big.

Gorgeous eyes

Can you see the little wound on her side?  She had a run in with the corner of the screen door, lucky it was only a surface wound and has since cleared up, but really showed up on her light coat

We are continuing to socialise with other dogs, and this next photo is on a walk with 3 other bigger dogs.  Two huskys and a boxer ... her little legs go twice as fast as the others, but she keeps up the pace really well.

I hope to get a couple of more Christmas cards made this week.  With the days flying past so quickly, Christmas will be here before we know it.

Have a good week

Sympathy Cards

It is an unfortunate fact of life that we all require these cards at some time.
I bought a new embossing folder from Darice and wanted to try it out.  Very simple cards, but different results.

The final card uses a Quote stamp with a little ink shading.  I think it looks better in "real life", the photo does not depict the subtle shading

Kaisercraft - August Collections - Part 2

As promised yesterday, here are the cards we made using the Factory 42 pre-release papers from Kaisercraft.

Aren't they great, they could be used for any occasion. Cannot wait to get my hands on the new dies that are part of this collection.

Until next time,

Kaisercraft - August Collections

I was lucky enough to be able to play with the pre-release Kaisercraft August Papers for their upcoming two new collections.

1. Christmas Jewels - beautiful mauve & silver tones for Christmas
2. Factory 42 - Cogs, Gears - very manly

My sister Sue, a friend Desley, and myself decided to make two cards from each of the collections. Each totally different, but all great as the papers are truly beautiful and make it very easy to create stunning cards.

I will show the results from the Christmas Jewels papers today and then tomorrow the Factory 42 ones.  Warning - lots of photos ...

What a great start to our Christmas cards

Until tomorrow

Sewing For Breast Cancer patients

It has been a couple of years, since we have made the Breast Cancer Drain Bags, but the call came though that more was needed, which is really a shame however I was glad to get sewing again for this great cause.

I have finished off 12 bags already and decided this year that a little gift card would be nice popped into the bag for the recipient.  Card making is high on my list of little craft projects at the moment, so it was a good opportunity to make some on a smaller scale.  I loved how they turned out.

The bags have a variety of fabric themes, so hopefully they will cater to all tastes.

Close-up of braid insert - I still have a bit of these left over from a quilt that I started a number of years ago, so now they are being put to good use.

My friend, who does all the organising for the pickup and delivery of these bags has also made over 50 little seat belt pads for the breast cancer patients.  I think it would be a great idea to include one in every future bag I make, so I will take a photo of the next one I make.  This little pad just sits between the seat belt and the breast and can be used if you are either the driver or passenger to provide comfort.

Until next time

Hard to believe that Cindy is 1 today - she has bought such love and laughter to my life (not to mention my empty wallet) Would not give her back for anything

Look at those eyes- how can you resist

Just Made It!

Well, the last day of the month, and I am just writing another post.  I have been busy and will show you the results in a couple of days (or two)

We celebrated Australia Day on Thursday January 26th and I had fun making some little treats for a party I was attending

It was a hot day, so nice cool jelly and watermelon were my treats of choice!

Caramello Koala in Gum Tree (Green Jelly) and Freddo Frog in Pond (Blue Jelly) .  As we were going to have these around the pool, I made them in plastic takeaway cups, just to be safe.

Then I used by Australia Map Cookie Cutter to cut out some shapes from the watermelon

Lots of fun.

I have already started making my Christmas Cards for this year.  What?  I hear you say?  Well, last year I was so rushed during November and December I decided to start early, and you have to admit this is "early".  Will post some photos soon.

February tomorrow already.  The days are going so quickly.  I have to say, Cindy has had a health free month, so I am so pleased about that!.  We start some training next month, a little late, but it was extremely difficult to find a trainer within a 100 klm radius of where I live.  She has naughty traits already, so hopefully we can correct them with training, nothing serious, just naughty.

Until next time

Welcome 2017

Well, I have made a promise to myself this year to ensure that I have at least one blog post per month.  Last year my blog was neglected badly.  Five days into the new year, and all I have to show is a photo of my beautiful puppy Cindy, nearly 11 months old now.

I have had visitors staying over the Christmas - New Year period, so I did not even venture into the craft room.  Then my first sewing job, will be mending, unfortunately.  Things I have been putting off for a number of months.

I have plans to use up a lot of my fabric this year, making charity quilts and bags.  So once everything gets back to normal (or as close to normal as possible) I am making a start.

Do you make plans at the start of the year?  Do you follow through?
