Hurry! Go Find a Basket

Hello Everyone,
It's Hump Day...otherwise known as Wednesday.
It is our last full day of this school year and we have planned some Summer Fun activities. The students need to stay busy to prevent chaos, so I am doing a Sunglass project and the other two teachers are making ice cream and 5th grade reflection wheels. Tomorrow is a Picnic at the Park.

The challenge at Craftaholics R Us also begins today.

This Week's Challenge...
~ Basket ~

Here is my Design Team project...
I searched through my Cameo's svg library for baskets and mostly Easter ones popped up. I thought about choosing one and filling it with flowers, but I didn't like how it looked. THEN, I found this cutie! I am much happier with this picnic pup by KaDoodle Bug Designs.

The pattern papers are from My Favorite Things and the stamped sentiment is by Lawn Fawn ~ Scripty Sayings.

I inked all the edges of the pup with Tim Holtz brushed corduroy distress ink. The red gems are from my stash...evens pups need a little bling.
I am sending this card to my daughter at college along with a Publix gift certificate. I may not be able to send a picnic basket filled with food, but I can still feed her another way.

Hope you will join us at Craftaholics R Us this week for our "Basketchallenge. Be sure to check out the other crafty creations.

Thinking of You with Avery Elle Flowers

Hello Everyone and Happy Sunday!

Thanks for being here today. I have been busy in the craft room since early this morning. I saved a few sketches I thought would be fun and then I wrote the challenges for the past week to see what I might be able to join.

Today's Project...
I decided to join Tuesday Morning Sketches and I made not one, but two cards. I noticed I have been using quite a bit of pink the last two weeks, so I switched up the color palette to blues, yellows and then orange.

For the second card I rotated the sketch and changed the colors to yellow and orange.

I used the same stamp set, but adhered orange gems around the scallop to add a little pizazz.
 Other Challenges:

Glad you stopped by! This is going to be a busy and creative week with Valentines. Hope you will come again!

Thinking of You ~ Project of the Day #14

Hello Crafty Friends,

Woke up this morning and went for a walk at the park with a friend...great way to start the day. Came home and worked on a list of things to do and accomplished 3/4 of it. Then I took a nice, long nap. I'd say this has been a productive day!

After watching numerous videos yesterday I finally was able to get some inking done. I practiced a little blending, but I am not quite pleased yet, so I decided to try a stencil (thanks to a Jennifer McQuire video). I only have a few stencils in my collection and polka dots are my favorite; therefore, I selected this one first.

I used five different Ranger Distress inks to create the rainbow effect. I only had two round blending tools and had to change out the pads, so I called my son while he was running an errand and asked him to pick me up another pack. He did!

The stamped sentiment is by Lawn Fawn ~ Scripty Sayings and I used Ebony embossing powder. My daughter actually picked out the saying since she leaves for college this Sunday. She said I need to send this to her in a care package. One of her favorite colors is orange, which is why I chose that sparkly washi tape by Queen & Co.

I matched the sequins with the inks and adhered them with Tombow glue. The card base is MFT 100 lb paper ~ Orange Fizz.
Time to continue working on my list. I still have a couple "things" to cross off so I can say "DONE!". Tomorrow is Friday already. This week sure did go by quick. I hope the rest of the summer doesn't fly by...I have a lot more I still want to do.

Stay Creative,
Georgiana

Project of the Day #4 ~ Thinking of You

Hello Everyone,

Just a quick note to share one of the projects I had to finish from the Scrapbook Expo ~ Layering Background Stamps Card Class. In class we just created the background. There are three different layers...the swooshing watercolor technique, the crackle background, and then the script. I had to add all the clear stamp images at home.

That is what I just did! I had purchased a large acrylic block from the The Stamps of Life booth at the Expo, so I could use the floral stamp. Wow! What a pretty image! I used a two smaller acrylic block for the hummingbird and butterfly.

Lastly, I added the stamped sentiment from the same stamp set ~ JustRite Cherry Blossom and a few pearls in the center of the flowers.

I can tell I am going to like stamping! I may need to work on my ink color selection and I want a variety of acrylic blocks. It was so much easier applying smaller stamped images rather than using the 2.5 x 2.5 size for everything.

I plan on layering some more backgrounds with different colors and patterns...fun, fun, fun!

Hope you have a splendid week!

Thinking of You

Happy Monday! It's President's Day, which means a day off to do all those things that weren't finished over the weekend. I already have a list just thinking about it! Hoping to find time to make another project later today (might go to the movies with hubby). Right now I would like to share a card I made late last night for a few challenges.

Since it was Valentines Day I was in the pink and red mood. The Recollections and Paper Studio papers complimented each other nicely.

I used the following sketch from Stick It Down.

This is my favorite die from My Favorite Things...Scribble Roses. I remember buying these with my daughter during my first trip to their store in Eustis. I am so glad I decided to get them! I added a touch of pink glitter glue to the overlay.

The butterfly was cut with an ArtC die and the MFT banner from Blueprints 13 was stamped with a sentiment by Whimsical Designs.

Thinking of You at St. Patrick's Day

Hello Crafty Friends,

Welcome back and thanks for stopping by. Today I am sharing the new challenge at Die Cuttin' Divas. Hope you will join us this week!

This Week's Challenge...
St. Patrick's Day
What began as a religious feast day for the patron saint of Ireland has become an international festival celebrating Irish culture with parades, dancing, special foods and a whole lot of green.

Here is my Design Team project...
I wanted to try a new technique that I learned at the Scrapbook Expo. I stamped my own background using foam craft and a Spellbinders.

Choose any Spellbinders that can be used as a background. I bought a new one at the Scrapbook Expo after attending my class.

First, you cut the die from craft foam. I ran my through the Cuttlebug just like it was paper. You will have to remove the tiny pieces since the foam is thicker.  Then you stamp it really well with any color ink. Lastly, using a clear stamp block and double sided tape...stamp the design onto cardstock.

Add embellishments and decorate after the ink is dry.
Other Materials:
white and yellow card stock
Bo Bunny pattern paper
VersaMagic ink ~ Tea Leaves
Spellbinders ~ Label One
KaDoodle Bug ~ Irish Sheep svg file
Bo Bunny stamp
yellow gems

Other Challenges:
KaDoodle Bug FB Challenge ~ St. Patrick's Day

Here is the one I made at the Orlando Scrapbook Expo in the Spellbinders class.
Hope you will join us at Die Cuttin' Divas this week for our "St. Patrick's Daychallenge. The other design team members sure are full of luck this week because all their projects are amazing. Be sure to check them out.

Hope you will join the challenge this week!

Flowers at Exploring Cricut

Hello Crafty Friends,

Today brings a new challenge at Exploring Cricut.

This Week's Challenge...Flowers
I am a  bit excited to go outside today and see if there are any new flowers blooming after all the rain we had this weekend.

My Design Team Card...
Not only am I thinking about those beautfiul flowers, but I am "thinking of you" too. I received a bicycle for my birthday months ago, but no one else has a bike to go riding with me. I guess I will just have to enjoy alone. : (
My favorite is riding down the Interstate and seeing the variety of colorful wild flowers growing in the median. Knowing that they can not be picked or mowed is even better...they will always grow back.
All the dainty flowers with a pink pearl center were cut from Plantin Schoolbook at 1/2".
Materials:
papers from HUGE scrap box
Sweethearts Cricut cartridge ~ bike (p. 53) cut at 2 1/4"
Plantin Schoolbook Cricut cartridge ~ grass ( p. 69) 1 1/4" and flowers
Create a Critter Cricut cartridge ~ cloud (p.55) cut at 1"
Thinking of You stamp
black ink
white liquid pearls
pink self adhesive pearls

Hope you will join us at Exploring Cricut this week for our "Flowers" challenge. Be sure to stop by and see the Design Team projects. More flowers are blooming there!

Have a great week and stay creative,

Buzzzz...Buzzzz...I'm Thinking of You

Hello Crafty Friends,

Welcome back for another Whimsical Wednesday.
Today's challenge is to create a shaped card...any shape, but not a square. First, I was going to create a circular card, but I didn't want it to roll away. Yes, believe it not I have made cards that roll! So...I decided to make a pentagon shape card...a 5 sided polygon (We will be working on Geometry next week.).

Here is my Design Team project...
The Campin' Critters Cricut cartridge has quite a few bases you can choose from. Just use the sign feature.
I have been waiting for the perfect opportunity to use this embossing folder I special ordered. It is by Tim Holtz and it was in a two pack with a bubble wrap design.
I added brown glitter glue to his bodice and antennae.
Here is a sample of the sign feature.
Materials:
American Crafts paper
blue, brown, and white card stock
Campin' Critters Cricut cartridge ~ base (p. 40) cut at 4 1/2"
Give a Hoot Cricut cartridge ~ bee (p 37) cut at 2"

I Thought of You Today

Hello Crafty Friends,

So glad you stopped by!
I have been working on my summer crafting goals and thinking about how to celebrate my 2nd blogoversary, which is next week. I know there will be goodies, but I am still deciding how many and what type. More information will be posted within the next couple of days, so be sure to check back often.

Carri (Abusybee) and I are having fun challenging each other again. While the hubbies have been relaxing we decided to find some challenges (listed below) that we could work on together.

Here is my project...
First, we chose a sketch for the layout of our card. Then we found a couple color challenges...one required purple and then we found another that required two colors.
We added embossing (dry and heat), ribbon, and a punch. Lastly, we included a banner for our sentiment. I learned that I need to use heat embossing more often. It always looks so nice, but you have to apply the right amount of pressure to the stamp...not too hard or it smudges and not too light or some of the letters are missing.
Materials:
purple and white cardstock
kraft paper
purple striped paper
Flower Shoppe Cricut cartridge
Quic Kutz embossing folder
purple crinkle ribbon by 3Girl JAM
purple flower brad
floral edge punch by Martha Stewart
Thinking of You stamp by Cardz TV
lilac embossing powder by Stampendous
brown ink

Challenges:
DL Art:  2 colors, ribbon, and embossing
Cute Card Thursday: Use a Punch
Crop Stop: Banners
Hiding in my Craft Room: Heat embossing
2 Sisters: Stripes and/or Plaid
Little Scrap Pieces: Use Purple
Card Patterns: Sketch

Here is another card...
I used the same sketch and the color purple.

Materials:
My Mind's Eye paper ~ Graceful paper stack
Flower Shoppe Cricut cartridge
purple crinkle ribbon by Karen at Little Scrap Pieces
silver brad
lilac pearls

Looking forward to the next time we can challenge each other. I always have so much fun!

Stay Creative,
Georgiana
