WOYWW 363

Hello,
I’ve been a couple of weeks absent due to the fact that I didn’t craft much so not much to show from my side, but I’m back.
And here is how my desk looks like right  now

A creative mess.

From left to right you can see:
A finished JAM (Journal About Me) page on top of my case of Posca pens with above the glitter paperpad I used for it.
Next to it the next page in progress, I used brushos for it and am in the process of cutting out stars.
Here is my finished page in all its glory.

The prompt was favorite quote and it had to glitter, shimmer and shine.

I think it does.

JAM 20 Angels

This week's JAM (Journal About Me) prompt is favorite/meaningful song and the challenge is to use a napkin.
Can you guess what my song is by looking at my inspiration "board"?

angel napkin, lyrics and hand carved angelwings stamp.
It is (as you already could read in the title) Angels from Robbie Williams, it is meaningful to me as it was our openingdans on our wedding 7.5 years ago.

JAM 10 what makes you happy?

This prompt is already from March the 4th but I just couldn’t figure out what to do.
Still not sure whether I am completely satisfied with this though

I started out by cutting 3 by 3 cm squares out of a scrapbook paper (our challenge for this prompt) and glued them on a black gessod circle.

I somehow connected what makes me happy with hearts so outlined some heartshapes and painted the rest in a combination of pink and purple Dylusions paint.

Finally I cut out some small red hearts and glued them randomly on the page and wrote all the things that make me happy: family quality time, crafting, the sun, good food...

What do you think? finished or missing something? Please let me know in a comment what you think and what you might add.

JAM 14 a meaningful object

My meaningful object is my weddingring.
Weddingring -> round -> circle of life
In the song there is a phrase with saphire blue, so I painted my page blue and wrote the lyrics in it with a toothpick.
Next I cut some hearts out and glued them on

printed out a picture of our rings and matted  it on a piece of paper which I colored with faded blue DI.
I searched for the wright embellishments: a homemade flower, a heart and the Happy banner.

Only 3 more to go and I'm up to speed.

JAM 13 compliments

With this prompt came the challenge to use gelatos so I flicked through my gel sticks technique book.(which are apparently the same)
I decided to use a resist technique by clear heat embossing a butterfly stamp. I used a pale blue and yellow gel stick

which I blended with a babywipe

Next I added some stamping using the gel sticks as ink, just by rubbing a stick on a stamp.

The third technique I used was some dripping.
That was the background done
which I further turned into this:

JAM 12 favorite season

My favorite season is just starting, spring.
The fresh new beginning of life, still full of hope.
I started by writing the word spring with a piece of rope, this is one of my hardware store finds for the let’splay theme of March.

Next I painted everything in a fresh spring green.

Finally added the only rub ons (that was the creative challenge with this prompt) I have in my stash but which coincidentally work wonderwell with the theme.

JAM 11 favorite place

My favorite place is by far my home.
Ok, I like to go on holiday, to the beach or on a daytrip, but I’m always very happy when I return home.
And when I wouldn’t have all those trips I still would be very happy just spending time home.
I have  everything I need their, a comfy bed, a garden, the people I love and don’t forget my craft studio.
The creative challenge we got from Tiara with this prompt is to use torn or ripped paper, I’ve created a scene with our house all in ripped paper, even the circle is ripped.

I added some stamping, lovely creatures in the sky, flowers in the garden and lost of hearts representing the love that fills our house.

I addeds some magical dimension to the hearts as can be seen here on a close-up.

I'll also be linking this page to the biweekly Craft Barn challenge where the theme is circles in the background as the page is a circle.

JAM 9 favorite food - use a straw

I didn’t have to think long to figure out what my favorite food is, chocolate off course, mmmm...
And how lucky am I to be living in Belgium, besides waffles and beer also well known for his great chocolates.

I pulled out my gelli plate and made a print in chocolate brown using a straw as a texture tool.
Next I added some hot pink using the straw as a stamping tool and blew some brown ecoline around.
So in fact I used the straw in 3 different ways.
I wanted to create the illusion that is was raining chocolate so I stamped raindrops and highlighted them with glossy accents.
All around the border I glued down chocolates from a napkin.
And then…well then I got stuck

I put the page aside until some inspiration would hit me,
but unfortunately it didn’t,

so I took the drastic decision to gesso on top of it and start all over.

Now my vision was to create a box of chocolates.
So I drew a grid with a heart in each one.
Then I took a paintbrush and used the back to stamp dots with,
brown outline for the milk chocolate, colored insides for the fillings and outsides for the wrappers.

The last thing I needed to do was to create a lid for my box.
So I took a  piece of paper of which the pattern is luscious and just perfect for a box filled with yummy chocolates, cut it to size and cut an inner circle out, on the inside I glued a piece of transparent on which I wrote my quote from Forrest gump with a gold and black posca pen

Life is like a box of chocolates
you never know what you're going to get

Don't you just want to open this box and indulge on those wonderful chocolates?
I know I do J

JAM 8 favourite drink/use bubble wrap

I didn't have to think long about this one, currently this is definitely a G&T.
I wrote the recipe for a gin tonic in spectrum noir alcohol marker. I did this on purpose so it would still be visible after painting over it which I did with fresh lime Dylusions paint.
While the paint was still wet I dabbed a piece of bubble wrap in it leaving some marks.

I cut a stencil with my silhouette from a girl laying in a cocktail glass and stencilled her in black.

Next I added some more marks with bubble wrap and playcolor sticks and had some fun with stickers and the finishing touches.

Now on to my favourite food, also a no brainer, chocolat, mmm.

JAM 7 - your goals/stitching

This page is made up out of all new craft supplies which I purchased last week at a craft fair.

The background is painted with  playcolor paint sticks to form a football shape (goal). I used my sewstamper to add my stitching (maybe that should be one of my goals, learn to stitch?nah, don't think so, not this year anyway)
The birds are a stamp set from Katzelkraft which I colored with my bright spectrum noirs set, they are so adorable, just couldn't resist buying them. They also have a similar set of cats and dogs. In the center is a steampunk bird stamp from stampendous which I heat embossed with joy wow embossing powder(WL05R). Sadly the details got a bit lost on the way. I added my goals for this year in scribble writing. The hearts are from my previous page but fit in color wise (and as they aren't red they qualify for The Craft barn challenge).
On to page 8 which is our favorite drink (that's a no brainer) and we need to use bubble wrap.

JAM#3 words that describe me/use a brayer

I started by brayering some warm colors on my page.
Next I wanted to create a stencil from a picture of me, but after spending hours I gave up and instead I used this image I had in my Silhouette library. But in fact I cut a silhouette and not a stencil, instead of just glueing the silhouette down I outlined it because I didn't want to cover up those colors and also I wanted to write down my words inside of the head. I colored the hair details with my posca pens and created the scalloped border.
It was still lacking something so I drew the wavy lines.

JAM 4: favourite color/plastic wrap

Hello there,
For challenge no.4 we needed to use plastic wrap, well I already used plastic wrap on the gelli plate and with spray inks, but never with acrylic paints, until now that is. I painted a sheet of watercolor paper with purple and pink paint, made them a bit more fluid with some water, added a piece of plastic wrap on top and wrinkled it up. Then came the hard part, leaving it to dry overnight.

and this is how it turned out

pretty cool.
Cut my circle out of the sheet of paper, now I have some left overs for something else.
Stamped stars in some more purple and pink and added a layer of magic fibres.(something I already have for years in my stash but only used once I believe, so you could say neglected and let that be the time for this month's Let's play challenge too)

Exactly the magical background I wanted for my fairy scene

hometown/corrugated cardboard

Hello there and welcome,
I'm running a little behind (already) with my JAM challenge.
We're already on our 5th prompt today and this is only my 3rd finished page.

My hometown is Tildonk, a small village (only 7.3 km²) near Leuven in Belgium.
For my page I used a magazine picture of an art deco hall in the sint-angela convent which is now a school, museum and restaurant.

I've created 3 flowers out of corrugated cardboard following this tutorial and the letters were cut with the Cameo.
I also will be entering this page in the weekly Craft Barn challenge, where the theme this week is triplets.

JAM 2 - nickname

Challenge #2 in the JAM sessions is nickname and to use stamp(s).
I don’t really have a nickname so I choose my crafting alter ego, butterfliecrafter and created this page.

I picked a butterfly napkin, as this was pink I painted the background pink, a color I don’t use that often.

Next I stamped a lace stamp in purple all around, because the napkin design also has some white lace in it. (It’s hard to see, but the shimmer you see is the stamped lace)
I had some lace butterfly stickers in my stash which I glued to the page, stencilled some purple flowers

in which I doodled a bit, really like the effect it gives, it really makes the flowers pop.

Finally I stencilled my nickname and added some gold in a few letters.
As you might have noticed my buterfly is in a somewhat strange position, this is a little oops along the way, because the page is round you don't really see what is up and down.
On to challenge #3.

JAM 1 - name

This year I will also be taking part in the JAM (Journal about me) challenge hosted by Tiaresmith (all details can be found on her blog).
We will be creating a round page each week with a given prompt and challenge.
Week 1: prompt is your name and the challenge is to use a babywipe.

Here is a step by step how I created this page

Colored my circle
with an ochre and brown
gel stick.

used a babywipe
to create
a more watercolor effect.

tried a new technique, image transfer with matte medium.
glued my laserprint image down with matte medium, left it for an hour, after an hour wetted it with water and rubbed the paper away with my fingers and tada my image of Queen Victoria has been transferred.

I stamped a border all around
and cut the letters of my name
with my cameo
out of a scrap piece of paper.

The flowers are actually made out of babywipes, I have a stash of them dried in my drawer (never throw anything away), cut circles out of them, hit them with a heatgun so they crumble up, glue them together and add a center.
This also fits in perfectly with this month's lets play theme so I will also be linking there.
