Maternity Photos

Hello Friends!

Everything is going great with our baby so far and I just wanted to share with you some of our Maternity photos today since I will also be having my BABY SHOWER as well on this day, set-up and planned by my girlfriends, I'm so excited to see what they've come up with!

Anyway, I think Demi Moore started the trend when she went on a magazine cover naked with her belly out. But no matter what you think of it now, Maternity photos have taken a huge chunk of the photography business too!

I never had one with my 2 boys for 2 reasons: 1) It wasn't the "thing" back then & 2) We probably couldn't afford it too! ;-)

Here are some of my faves from our shoot...

Overall, it was truly fun and truly 'awkward' ( you can see the awkwardness in some of the photos).
We're just not "professional posers" I guess. My hubs and I kept laughing a lot and it was hard to keep a straight face even if the photographer, was a very good friend of ours.

We still think it was worth the effort and would be a great time to look back upon this unique time in our lives and in our child's.

Have A Great Weekend!

Why I'm delaying setting up my nursery

I'm a little bit close to my third trimester.

This was a couple of weeks back

And during this time, most families begin their 'nesting saga' so to speak, with much gusto and with full bravado.

I for one, you all know, have not been slacking on this important detail in our life.

You have probably seen my Nursery Designs already, so you know it's been a pre-occupation of mine for a while now.

However, the reason as to why I haven't done or executed any of my nursery plans yet is this - I am in no hurry to finish up my nursery since I plan to have my baby share our bedroom for awhile.

Yes, you read it right, I am planning to nest first with baby right in our own Master bedroom.

The decision was clear for us from the start and here are our reasons:

1) Baby's nursery is gonna be on the 2nd floor of the house. Our Master Bedroom is on the ground floor. You can imagine the dilemma and eventual weariness of going up and down the stairs already right?

2) Culturally, as Filipinos, this is the set-up we grew in to and the set-up I had with my 2 boys as well.

Why you may ask? Well, houses in the Philippines are usually not big enough to accommodate an extra bedroom for babies, and even if there was an extra room, this was more often allocated for guests and relatives  (or house maids) who often come and visit with the family, so baby ends up sleeping in parents room as long as possible.

I guess I'm doing this again out of 'habit'????

3) It's just EASIER for everything to be arms reach when you have a newborn and recovering from a C-section as well.

We know having the baby in our own bedroom would give us more 'work' than respite but in the end, convenience of having our baby close by, wins against our 'restful night debate'.

And so with these reasons, I have been looking at families who co-share their own rooms with their babies!

I don't plan on putting my full-sized crib in our bedroom, just a bassinet and the changing table for some of baby's stuff. But overall, this last room sort of mimics the layout I have in mind.

I know this decision of ours is not for everyone and definitely not for the majority of families, but then again, it's our choice and we feel it is the right choice FOR US.

I will still set-up the nursery, for sure, but with some delay, and now you know why!

How about you? How did you sleep with a newborn? Sounds familiar or remotely absurd? When did you have your baby move into the nursery, right away or after a few weeks? months? Please do share your experience. I would love to hear them.

Have a Wonderful Weekend!

Baby Gender Announcement

I just have to share this with you my friends...

This is what I posted on my Instagram and Facebook page yesterday.

It thought the clue was obvious, but about 3 people still tried to guess the baby to be a boy. ;-)

Well, as fate would have it we are expecting a BABY GIRL!

We are so excited and finally can start planning for our registry and nursery more specifically.
The boys are looking forward to 'protecting' and playing with their baby sister and so far, in our household, the "Naming Battle" has begun!

Another equally great news we had was that all our genetic screening tests for the baby came back NEGATIVE! So we're very hopeful our little baby will be normal and healthy.

Thank you for your prayers dear friends and I hope your continue to pray along with us!

Have a Great Weekend!

Pregnancy Announcements

Our simple pregnancy announcement I placed on my Social Media Sites

Yes, now you know, what's been taking up a lot of my time and energy, and the 'excuse' for my 'ho-humm' & fewer posts- a new life growing inside me!!!

Not so big yet but shorts un-buttoned already!

We could't be happier my friends, after my heart-breaking miscarriage two years ago, we didn't want to get any ones hopes up, including our own even if we found out as early as 7 weeks!
 We called ourselves 'cautiously optimistic'.
Aside from our own devastation, close family and friends were also heart-broken, so this time we decided to wait before we were positively sure everything would be ok.
And by now it seems to be so!!! Hoooray!!!!!
I'm 16 weeks going!

How big my baby probably is right now

I have so many thoughts going thru my mind right now, after all, I am under the AMA category (Advanced Maternal Age - uggghhh), riskier for sure for both me and the baby.

Ok, I admit, I'm not that old.

We did not plan on this too, after Aidan was born, it took us 7 years to conceive again and now, this one makes a 9 year gap from my youngest.

My husband and kids are super excited, perhaps even more than me, we were all bursting inside on when to tell our friends and family especially my older son, but we patiently waited until today!

My actual belly shot recently taken in Destin

As I was contemplating on how we were gonna break the news, I saw some other interesting ways of sharing a pregnancy...

Anyone can do this shot, perfect!

Something more hip perhaps?!
How about some chalkboard art?

We still need your prayers though, it's still a long ways off until my due date and I truly am hopeful, excited, happy, a bit scared and of course, praying that baby will be alright.

So bear with me if I post occasionally  on 'baby stuff' on my blog, after all this blog is called
"Life & home at 2102", and this new baby will definitely be a HUGE PART OF THAT LIFE!!!!

Have a Great Weekend Everyone!!!!
