Tutoring Session and Balloons

I'm still in the process of updating my blog from the last 6 months or so. Sorry these are months and months old, but I still wanted to get them on here for anyone that may be able to use them for ideas on projects they're working on.

This was a fun little project I was hired to do set-design for. It was a workshop for Kristin Rogers Photography. We pulled together 2 different looks for the students to practice on. It was a fun day and I got to meet some really great people.

First up was a bridal look. Lots of balloons in various sizes hung from the ceiling and covering the floor. By the way... blowing up those giant balloons is a nightmare, even worse is trying to tie them! Yikes, my fingers were raw when I was finished!

Second look was an eclectic mix of props. That red chair looks so good in photographs, I love it every time I see it. :)

Here's a collage of some of the girls from that day.

For more pictures or to get information on tutoring sessions, check out this post here.

Here is a list of all the lovely and talented people who worked on this project. I hope we have a chance to do this again!

White Wedding Magazine {Published}

This post is long overdue but worthy of adding to the blog. The spread was in White Wedding Magazine last August, and needless to say it's super exciting to be part of an 8 page spread in a printed wedding magazine. They wanted 4 bridesmaid looks: colorful, lace, patterns, and white... this is what I came up with. A big thanks to Logan Cole for inviting me to be a part of this.

Here are a few behind the scenes photos and close-up shots of some of the props and decorations used.

In the pattern room I made scalloped pennants and giant ruffled balls

All of the bouquets were really beautiful!

Large hoops hung with fabric and lace.

And here are a few photos of the MUA, hair stylist, and wardrobe stylist working their magic.

I really love doing this so much, and it's extra special working with such an enjoyable group of people!

Preview: Timi & Leslie Diaper Bag {Photo Shoot}

Here is a quick peek at our photo shoot for Timi & Leslie Diaper Bags. I was so thankful when I was asked to do some sets for their fall line of diaper bags! After their new fall line is launched I'll be doing a full post from that day, with a few behind the scenes goodies, and a look at my mood board.

Till then...

Coming Soon-ish...

I wanted to share a few things that I can't wait to get on the blog!

A few weeks back I worked on a bridesmaid shoot for White Magazine, a wedding magazine based out of Australia. I can't post pictures on this until it's published in August, but I can tell you it was a fun day!

Also coming soon-ish, a 7 year old girl's birthday party. Just waiting for some better pictures from that day, but here is a little peek at a photo I took after setting up.

And finally, a very exciting photo shoot for the Fall line of Timi & Leslie Diaper Bags which I'll be doing this Friday.

There you have it! A quick look at some of the projects I can't wait to be able to share with you all!

I'm also about 1/3 of the way done with the frame wall in my dining area... finally! I'll share soon.

Gotta run, I'm off to rinse the hair color out of my hair!

Little High Little Low Cast Photo Shoot

When I was asked to be the set designer for the photo shoot of the cast of Little High, Little low I had big ideas for a set, with gates and all kinds of props... BUT, sometimes that's just not the way to go. The more the photographer of the shoot (Kristin Rogers) and I discussed the importance of a close knit feel needed in the pictures, the more I came to realize that the last thing this photo shoot really needed was props. The actors were going to be what made this shoot feel the way it needed to (along with some help with directing poses, I may or may not have hugged Kristin several times to give them the idea of what we were going for!). I was actually so thankful for this opportunity, and even though the "set" is not what stands out that's what made it so perfect. I hope you all enjoy these and keep and eye out for this sweet independent film scheduled to shoot in New Orleans.

The cast (from upper left): Katie Kocis, Danny Dehert, Doree Seay, Rodrigo Nicolau, Zak Gumpel, Tiffany McFadden (Writer), Monti Washington, Gisele Gauthier

It was fun spending the day with you all!

Suite 106 Cupcakery {Photo Shoot}

I had the best time working on a shoot for the sisters of Suite 106 Cupcakery. These girls won Food Network's Cupcake Wars and have been going non-stop ever since!

They have a shop now in Victoria Gardens which their family helps run while they bake till the wee hours of the morning!

I wanted to make sure the cupcakes were the main focus of the table so I kept things very neutral, working with lots of white, burlap, and silver trays. I kept the burlap table cloth nice and full on the table to give a billowy look. And yes, I did ask my sweet husband to climb a tree, and hang my very heavy chandelier from it, so that I could have that as part of my set (Thanks Hubby!).

We switched out their basic cupcake flavors half way through the shoot and added in some fun, brightly colored cupcakes. Also displayed are their cupcake jars (Christy thought of that while she was trying to perfect a way to ship cupcakes to her family members in other states - BRILLIANT!).

I wanted to use their packaging and labels as much as possible, so I added labels all around their brown cupcake boxes and stacked them to make a cute cupcake tier.

Keep checking back, I've got another project in the works with Christy & Rebecca... it should be fun and I'm really excited about it!

I know you're all dying to know... YES, the cupcakes are yummy! So far I think my favorite is the Celebration Cupcake with chocolate cake, or Christy's Red Velvet, or maybe it's the Dolce de Leche... I'm not really sure, but they were all delicious!

Drop by their shop in Rancho Cucamonga and say "Hi!" to Lee & Harry (their sweet parents)or maybe Michael (their cousin) will be there... it really is a family run business!

Thank you Kristin Rogers & Logan for inviting me and letting me use your amazing photos.

Sheila Northcutt - Make-Up Artist... Seriously. Good. (And she gives me little make-up tips which I love)

And a huge thank you to Condor's Nest Ranch for allowing us to shoot at their ranch, it's a beautiful place and would be absolute perfection for a wedding!

Farm Engagement {Inspiration}

This engagement session was fun to do and I had the chance to work with a great bunch of talented ladies! Lots of natural elements and I love all the great details that went into this shoot.

I thought it would be nice to break the shoot down and give all the details and info to those of you who may be interested in using some of these ideas for your own.

Table Setting ideas

Vintage lace (found at a local thrift store) becomes an instant base for a unique plate setting.

Camping dishes mixed with vintage milk glass. The mixture of casual camping dish and smooth white milk glass adds interest.

Carmel apples are a fun dessert, replace the usual popsicle sticks with twigs or cinnamon sticks to make things extra special.

I found these wooden spoons at Michaels (pack of 2 for $1), but you could order similar ones here. Print your guests names, Mr & Mrs, or your wedding date... instant wedding favor. Use simple jute twine or bakers twine to tie the utensils together.

Mini birdcages purchased at my favorite store in Carmel, Ca before Christmas, but you could make your own as a special wedding favor.

Old crates ($5 each on craigslist), birds nest, bird, eggs and paper doily add a little something extra to the table. The little green plant and tin pot are both from Ikea... and eeeek, it's actually artificial (still looks good!)

Signs are another great way to personalize your photo shoot or special day. Paint "Getting Hitched", "Just Married" or "Thank You" on just about anything and you have instant charm.

Accessories add SO much to a photo! Throw a large, lace flower in your hair, add a necklace, scarf, or vintage broaches... add things that make it feel more "you" and put together.

Hope you like it!
