Approved

Things often get worse before they get better. For example, as we looked over options for redoing the sewer line, we found that the existing line, which managed to pass inspection in 1984, has a negative 1 to 2 percent grade.  It is supposed to have a positive 2 percent grade.  this means that all the "water" in the line naturally flows toward the house.  It only ever cleans out when a large volume of water flows through it.  IE, the only thing that has kept the pipe clear for the last 26 years is the clothes washer.

Well, Today They city engineer and the home inspector approved our plan to cut a new line to the sewer.  we have to tear up the floor in 2 spots on the bottom 2 floors, reroute the washer drain, the laundry room floor drain, the downstairs tub and toilet and the drain in the very bottom floor.  then we will pull it out of the front of the house to the main road.  Additionally we will have to pull up the driveway and cap the old line where it heads out to the road.

The good news?  This will all be slightly cheaper than having Rescue rooter do half of it.

Well, congratulations on your soon-to-be new sewer line, and I'm excited for your new driveway, because, man, that one you've got now is horrible...
