Thanks guys!  Grab a feature button above under the buttons page!!

Ok my turn!!

What a week for me.  Craigslist has been awesome!!
I found a bunk bed for $15!  It was so cheap because it doesn't have siderails or a ladder.  Sheesh, I can make those!  I plan on  sanding, painting, distressing and all that fun stuff :)

Then I found a cute little book shelf for $10 and then she threw in the chair for $2!
I'll go into detail about what's on the book shelf in another post :)

I hit Sal's 50% day last friday and got awesome deals:
VINTAGE SHEETS!
Ok best deal ever!  I got 5 pillow cases for .30 cents each!
Sheets were only .75!

I also got my book wreath supplies too on the same trip!

Linking this to THESE parties!

thrift store finds.

A few days ago, I went to the St. Vincent Store to look for some boots for my 2nd little child.
Although my attempts in finding boots were amiss, I did discover some wonderful items!

First this rug!  Look how cute!  I instantly fell in love with the colors.  It was only $19.  Not bad for a 4x6 rug, which will be perfect in our new living room that'll we will be living in in just 2 short weeks!
Next is this bad boy.  This wonderful trunk!
I have been looking for a large LARGE trunk to store blankets or whatever in it for the living room.
I am not liking throwing my blankets in a big purple bin people!
And I've spied this baby for months now...just sitting pretty waiting...waiting...waiting...
for me to snatch it!
It was only $49.  Which seriously, if you look at prices for trunks these days, like huge trunks like this with character, they are well over $100 or $200.
So to find this for this price, I was uber excited.
This too will look fabulous in my living room, maybe front and center or in the corner :)
Anyone else love finding deals as much as me?
Oh and i hit a local gently used children's store called Children's Attic today.  They were having a 50% off clothes sale and 20% off everything else off!  I mean, their prices are low to begin with.  So I got boots, 4 pairs of pajamas, 2 shirts, and a sweater for $28.
That's awesome.

Where do you like to go for good deals?

picture frame to magnet board redo.

This to....

 THIS!

I have been wanting an big magnet board for years.  But am too cheap to buy a huge expensive one.  So I just waited....
I found this in August for $3.  i was so excited because I knew this has potential to be "the one".

So after some research on some options for it to become magnetized, I got small metal sheets from Lowes and hot glued them to the picture...
which was just a big poster, not an original ;)
I put it in place but i didn't like that it was so "metal"

I grabbed some old sheet music that I found at a local antique store...
And I modge podged it on the metal.
I did 1 layer to cover it all and then I ripped the sheets into 3's and then sparatically modge podged them on top of that.
 And there you go!
I love love LOVE how it turned out.  Plus, I love the vintage frame with it's green velvet.

My son likes it too ;)

It is now in it's spot above the dresser and I love it!

dresser to tv stand transformation

the weight on my shoulders have been greatly lifted.
my dresser is done.
ahhhh, it feels so good to say that.

can i show you what i started with?
i picked this up on craigslist for $30.  I loved the lines and curves on it.
I saw potential...
but she had a slow start because I was indecisive on what color of paint.
but i finally chose one that i felt would be versitile for my home.

Ta-da!  isn't she gorgeous?  and she's all mine ;)

Let me give you the breakdown on how this transformation took place.
I took her apart and wiped her down ie: knobs and hinges off, spider webs and dead bugs off etc.
I have to give a BIG SHOUT OUT to Tomboy TOols for helping me do this project.  Their tools made it SO easy to this project.  (not to mention they are PINK and ergonomically made to fit our hands ;)  )
sand her down ever so gently

so when I got her, one of the top drawers was broken.  I didn't want to deal with that.  plus, I wanted to change it into a TV stand, so I figured, just get rid of that top row!
So that's what I did.  I placed pegboard on top to make a shelf...
pegboard, you ask?
it was free from craigslist and there was no other funds for un-holey wood...so pegboard it was!
 next I primed it

I used wood filler on the door to fill in that "wheat bundle" picture...it had to go.
So next was painting it...I used spray paint.  I agree with All THings Thrifty and don't have the time it takes to use bucket paint.
I used Krylon's Ivory spray paint.  I used about 4 1/2 cans.  I love how it turned out!
And I don't know why I don't have pictures of that process.  I think I was shocked that I actually painted it in one afternoon.
After it dried, i took some sandpaper and distressed it.

Next was putting some covering on the pegboard.  Thanks to some advice from Marcy,
I found some wrapping paper from the Dollar Tree.  I then used Modge Podge and inserted it on top of the shelf.
I love how it turned out!

I put new knobs that I got for $1 for 6 knobs at the Habitat for Humainty Restore...love how they look!

And here she is!
What a feeling of accomplishment!

And this is her current residence.  not sure if she'll still be our TV Stand or be put somewhere else.
I just like looking at her...

$$ Breakdown:
dresser: $30
Paint: $17
Knobs: $1
Wrapping Paper: $1
Total: $49!
NOT TOO SHABBY!
