Snowflake Delight!

Hi Everyone!

Christmas is now right around the corner and for some of you that means a cold snowy time of the year, but for me down the bottom of the world in New Zealand it means lovely hot sunny weather :)

The layout I have to share with you today is one of my best friends and her gorgeous wee man Oscar. This was winter last year and where they live, about an hour from me, is perfect for snowy photos for scrapping, which is great for me :)  Why?  Because I love snowflakes and anything scrappy that incorporates that, so Altitude was screaming my name lol :)

For the month of December we are also joining with Leaky Shed Chipboard, this product is amazing!!! So easy to use and alter - for the snowflakes I have covered them in gesso and then applied Pearlescents and glitter paste before finally adding a jewel to the center.

The chipboard oval is also painted with gesso but this time I only applied Pearlescents to it, and then arranged my cluster around it.

To create all the layers I have some popped some up with foam and then tucked pieces of Noteworthy in here and there.  Ive die cut my poinsettias and applied jewels to the centres.  The snowflakes I have fussy cut from. The large snowflake is actually a Christmas decoration :)

Wonderful Water Stamp Card!

Despite the fact that I have a positive temperature outside, I'm still preparing for the most important winter holidays - Christmas and New Year!

Most importantly, it's time to make, to inscribe and to mail the cards for grandma, favorite aunts, brothers and sisters, who live in other cities and countries.
Of course, I can not as well forget my friends!
In general, a huge number of cards!

Today I'll show you a simple but my favorite technique of "water stamp."
I have prepared a small tutorial where you can see how easy and gentle looks outcome.

Here are some photos of the result:

I've used the Leaky Shed Studio laser-cut chipboard as an additional border - it is very beautiful in color, so I did not paint it, but merely added a little sparkle by using the Glitter Paste.

Misc Me Christmas Greetings!

Hello Everyone! This month we have the pleasure of combining gorgeously detailed chipboard from Leaky Shed, with our holiday BoBunny collections - what fun!  I wanted to create a custom focal point for my Misc Me spread, using Leaky Shed chipboard & BoBunny art mediums.

Christmas Greetings by Keri Babbitt

I unified the pages with a line of eight 3x4" journaling cards from the Candy Cane Lane collection, embellished with jewels, stickers, chipboard, and of course the centerpiece - the Leaky Shed Christmas Tree!

After inking the tree with the Emerald ink pad and some Sugar glimmer spray, I filled each space with Pearlescents in Blush and Butterscotch.  Topped off with Citrus jewels, the tree is complete.

I love the swirl pattern of the pearlescents, and the shimmer and shine of the newly-painted green tree.  Adding one custom focal point is a fun way to fancy-up a special holiday Misc Me spread!

After embellishing and printing on the journaling cards, I decided to add one last finishing touch - a gold frame around each photo.  I printed my 3x5" photos onto 4x6" glossy paper, and masked each photo with some cardstock slightly larger, at 3.25x5.25".  Then I spritzed on some Gold glimmer spray, and immediately blotted up the excess with a paper towel.  The result is a shimmery mat around each photo - so festive for the holidays.

Frosty Fun!

Happy Thursday everyone! I love snowy winter days, when we can all go out for a walk, make snowmen and throw snowballs. Of course its also a great time to get some beautiful snowy pictures too.

I am extra excited to share my layout with you this month because along with the super Altitude Collection I got to play with some of the charming Leaky Shed Studio chipboard too.

Frosty Faces by Tracee Provis

I went for lots of layers on my page by cutting the paper into strips and placing behind the photo. I also cut the pages up individually from the Snowflake sheet and layered those behind my photo too.

I gave a few different treatments to my Leaky Shed Studio chipboard, some I simply painted with Gesso and others I gave a sparkle to by covering them with Bo Bunny's Silver Glitter Paste. I applied the same technique to the chipboard frame which works perfectly to draw your eye to the Photo.

Christmas Misc Me!

Christmas's are such special, family times for me and so I wanted to start documenting these special festive times.

Past, Present and Christmas's still to come by Denise van Deventer

8x9 Misc Me Spread by Denise van Deventer using Christmas Collage and Leaky Shed Studio

I started with the year before my son was born as it was quite a special time for me, because he was already in my tummy and I remember thinking how different our next Christmas would be.

I love that there are always photo's with such spontaneous expressions....and these are certainly in that category.

It is also a little sad for me to see that some of my family members are much older now and are a little more fragile than what they were before.

8 years does not seem a very long time, but looking back at these photo's, they were certainly a walk down memory lane. I really do want to document and capture these moments for my son and nieces.

I did layer and raise some elements, but not unduly so, as I did not want the pockets to be bulky. I also did some stitch stamping to add interest.

I heat embossed the Leaky Shed Studio chipboard with gold embossing powder, as Christmas is all about something shiny and a little bit of bling!

Fantastic Pearlescents Tutorial

Hi everyone! Today, I wanted to share some fun ideas of different things you could do with the new Pearlescents. They are absolutely amazing - a thick, shimmery paint that keeps its shape and comes out of a tube. I LOVE them, which is why I'm always pulling them out and playing around with them. So you're in for a lot of pictures today and several cards I created using Pearlescents in various ways. If you want to see two more New Year's Cards I created using Pearlescents for accents, you can check out my blog HERE.

Fun with Pearlescents by Ilene Tell

1. Stencil
Pearlescents tutorial by Ilene Tell using BoBunny stencils

Use a snippet of a makeup sponge. Add Pearlescents directly to sponge and dab on top of stencil. The result will be a shimmery image.

2. Dots Around Edges
Pearlescents tutorial by Ilene Tell using BoBunny stencils
Adding dots around the edge helps give the paper interest and the edges more definition. I love to use this technique on my cards and layouts! Simply express a tiny dot onto the page. In the image above, you can also see how the stenciled image came out - it reflects the light beautifully.

3. Cover Naked Chipboard
Merry Christmas card by Ilene Tell using Bo Bunny Christmas Collage with Pearlescents and Stencils

Here is the card using the stenciled doily and the dots around the edges. I used a Leaky Shed Studio laser-cut chipboard Christmas Tree and covered it with Pealescents in gold, and the stump in brown. Pearlscents is absolutely perfect for covering laser-cut chipboard and Bo Bunny wooden embellishments. It's very easy and since the paint is so thick, it stays put and creates a raised effect, giving the embellishment shine and even more dimension.

4. Painting

Since the Pearlescents are so thick, you could easily dilute them with water or your BoBunny Glimmer Sprays and paint using a paintbrush. Another option is to "paint" right from the tube, using the thickness to work for you. Here, I started by covering the Leaky Shed chipboard with the Pearlscents.

Jolly Holiday card by Ilene Tell using Bo Bunny Candy Cane Lane with Pearlescents

After letting the chipboard dry, I filled in the empty spaces with the Pearlescents.

As you can see in the detail image below, when used as paint and applied in a thick layer, you can see swirls of shimmer inside, which creates a stunning effect.

5. Stamping

Stamping and Pearlescents tutorial by Ilene Tell using BoBunny Altitude

For this technique, stamp your image first. I stamped a swirl design using Bo Bunny stamps and ink. Then, simply trace the design with the Pearlescents. You can see the example of the result below.

6. Icicles
Pearlescents are wonderful for creating a very realistic and beautiful icicle border. Simply add in a line, and create icicles by applying the Pearlescents downward at random intervals, making sure it's thicker at the top and thins out as it stretches down. Super easy!
Here is the completed card with icicles and the painted swirl from above.

7. Pearlescent Molding Paste

Molding Paste tutorial by Ilene Tell using BoBunny Pearlescents

Use the Pearlescents to color Molding Paste. This is a thick substance that is sold in arts and crafts stores, and comes in white. Keep adding and mixing in the Pealescents until you get the color you want. Then you can apply it to your project - it's easy to apply with a pallet knife or an old credit card, and can be applied directly to the page or over a stencil. Below is an example of using the Pearlescents mixed with molding paste, and applied over a Bo Bunny circles stencil. You can see the gorgeous, light blue, transparent effect that was created.

Tip: For mixing the paint, use discarded packaging.

Tip: Have a box of baby wipes handy where you scrapbook. When done with your stencil, simply wipe off the excess paint.

8. Paint Embellishments
In order to paint embellishments, first cover them completely with gesso (white primer found in arts and crafts store). Then color it with Pealescents using a paint brush. Easy!

Winter's Best card by Ilene Tell using BoBunny Altitude

Here, I painted the Bo Bunny flower with gesso, and then painted over it with Pealescents. You can see the shimmery result that you get - so perfect for this wintry card! I also used the Pearlescent molding paste technique on this card, combined with a BoBunny script stencil. Because the Pearlescents are so thick, I was able to add the faux pearl to the center and let the Pearlescents act as glue to hold it in place.

Well, I hope you liked some of the ideas I shared today on how to make the most out of your Pearlescents. These ideas are all very easy to execute and a lot of fun to try. Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to share any Pearlescents ideas you have in the comments :)
