Color Throw Down

I have been pretty absent lately, making that push to finish Christmas card.  I play along with the Jingle Belles most weeks, but I am still short.  This week's Color Throwdown is perfect for Christmas.
I find that clean and simple cards are more difficult to create than lots of layers:
Words 2 Craft By will have a new challenge starting of December 9 - come play along!

Pretty Sympathy Card

I am afraid I have needed WAY too many sympathy card lately.  I loved this sketch from Clean & Simple Fall to Layout:

I heat embossed the sentiment in white, and inked up the panel with Squeezed Lemonade, Wild Honey, and Fired Brick distress oxide inks.  Topped off the die cut with SU! Antique Gold seam binding.  I love the restful colors.

CAS

The Shopping Our Stash challenge is to create a Clean and Simple project.  Here is my first attempt:
It's OK.  I like the butterfly's pop of color, the silver border, and all of the white space, but something was missing.  Here is my second attempt:
I made the panel slightly larger, cropped it a little differently, and adding the sentiment.  Much better!!

How do you define liberty?  Come show us at Words 2 Craft By!!

Black & Gold

Addicted to CAS has a challenge to create a project using only black, white, and gold, and Happy Little Stampers' challenge is to create something using die cuts.  I love these challenges, and the cards I created in response!!!

Spellbinder dies, Fiskars sentiment in Versamark ink and gold and black embossing powder.  LOVE! Check out the Words2ScrapBy.blogspot.com May challenge - Say Cheese!!

Peaceful Butterflies

I like to work will many different styles and layouts, but I find that I am most comfortable with the CAS cards.  As much as I enjoying looking at elaborate creations, they are just not me.

Case in point:

The butterfly stamp is from Martha Stewart, sentiment from Fiskars.  Buttons are from Favorite Findings, and are sewn onto the top layer, and secured with a dot of Glossy Accents.

Most importantly, I need to learn to take better pictures!!!!
