Mid-Week Inspiration: Gingham

Summer is well on it's way!! I never tire of gingham in the summer and I can't wait to start wearing it again. Here's some inspiration as we wait for hotter days:

My Vintage Vanity: Wiggle While You Work

Nothing beats a 1950's wiggle dress!  I just listed this Blue Floral Bombshell of a dress suit in my Etsy shop; The Sparkling Cocktail!

From my personal collection, here I am in 2008 when it fit me like a glove!  I love this dress suit, it's three pieces in one and I'm so glad I get to now offer it to you! Each piece on it's own is special. You can wear the jacket with the floral banding and cuff or completely on the floral side! The cuff is also removable to a fully finished regular sleeve!

And the dress! Shelf bust, tuck pleats at bust, dolman elbow length sleeves with elbow dart and gusset, and a very fitted pencil skirt! VA-VA-VOOM!

 Love that floral!

If that offering is not enough, here is a gorgeous red wiggle dress with whimsical bow detail!

And this little number! Don't under estimate the power of a little black dress! Unique seaming makes this black wiggle dress a true vintage find

Wiggle while you work...your curves will thank you!

Mid-Week Inspiration: Mint and Red

I'm really loving the mint and red color combination! It's so clean and fresh. Here is some inspiration from kitchen decor, vintage dresses and a Wedding cake. The possibilities are endless!

My View: Jazz Age Lawn Party- 2012

Every year, Michael Arenella and his Dreamland Orchestra take over Governor's Island, here in New York City, and host a Jazz Age Lawn Party! I went this past weekend and had a great time pic-nicking, listening to great music and most of all people watching. Here I am in my 1930's red and green print dress, that I absolutely adore.

St. Germain was the delicious sponsor.

Vintage Finds of the Week: Swing Dresses

Midsummer Night Swing starts tomorrow in Lincoln Center, so I thought it'd be appropriate to find some lovely dresses to kick off the season! I'd love to learn how to swing dance, maybe this year I will go and get a lesson. For now, I'll just dream about what to wear. For this week's Etsy vintage finds I have selected some real pretty swing dresses, perfect for dancing or just watching. Either way, it's a good time.

Retro Hair Inspiration: The Quakes Show, Brooklyn

Anyone that knows me really well will tell you that if I ever struck it rich I'd hire a daily hairdresser before a cleaning lady. While hairstyling is not my forte, I never give up. I'm always looking for inspiration. Last night I went to see The Quakes and The Memphis Morticians play at the Bell House here in Brooklyn and found some wonderful looks and inspiring hairstyles. Below is a photo of me before I left for the show wearing my black eyelet vintage 50's dress (bought on eBay), my cherry print espadrilles (bought at Macy's of all places!) and hairclips from my Gingham Rose collection. I have also included photos of some inspiring ladies with pin-up worthy hair from the show. Keep doing what you're doing!
