My View: August Instagram Round-Up

Lejaby Overwire. My View Bobbins and Bombshells

My day job is in the lingerie industry and we got to go to the Lingerie Francaise Exhibition during market week. I instagramed a few pics from the exibit, including this 1952 Lejaby Overwire. I am really on the hunt for a vintage overwire for my vintage lingerie collection.

The Women in Bryant Park My View Bobbins And Bombshells

Summer in NYC is filled with outdoor movies in the parks. I was lucky to catch The Women afterwork one night with friends.  If you haven't seen this, do! It stars Joan Crawford, Norma Shearer and Rosalind Russell. The fashion show scene is to die for!

Greenmarket My View Bobbins And Bombshells

I've worked in Union Square for the past 3 years and I love the weekly greenmarket there. We moved our office to Chelsea recently so I snapped some lovely pics from the market on my last day in the neighborhood.

My View: Yarn Bomb!

I'm documenting Yarn Bombs as I discover them. A while back I found a tricycle that was completely covered in knit. Silly me, I wasn't carrying my camera with me that day. Now I always have my camera in my purse.
This one going around a street post was found on 15th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues in Manhattan.

My View: On Top of the Empire State

My Grandparents spent their honeymoon in the 1930's in NYC. I have always adored this elegant photo of them on top of the Empire State Building. The day after my husband and I got married we withstood the long lines and went up to the top of the Empire State to "recreate" this photo.
Once there, we found it impossible to get a full body shot as my Grandparents did. The deck is too narrow and way too crowded. It looks like my Grandparents had the deck to themselves. Also, note the gate that wasn't there in the 30's. Fascinating.
A view of the Chrysler Building. My favorite.

This view is very close to wear my Grandparents were standing. The view hasn't changed that much. I love it!

Weekend Events and Links a la Mode

The official start to the summer in NYC is celebrated with the Coney Island Mermaid Parade! Hopefully the sun will come out for tomorrows festivities. I won't be able to make it this year but I've been several times and it's a hoot! I will be able to catch up on my blog reading this weekend from my fellow Independent Fashion Bloggers. This week's links a la mode are below.
Have a great weekend!

Fashion Potluck

Edited by Dramtis Personae

This week’s Links á la Mode it a fashion potluck, a hodge podge of politics in fashion, interviews with fabulous designers, bloggers, and photographers, flashbacks in to our fashion past, and great shops and designers to check out. I couldn’t make rhyme or theme of the collection, so just sit back & enjoy some of the best the Independent Fashion Bloggers had to offer this week!
