Plans & Goals: September

Just when I'd almost given up on a proper summer, the sun decided to come out again. And I hear it should stick for most of September! So that gives me some extra time to do the summery things I hadn't gotten to yet. I really hope to:

  • Visit my favorite street of the city.
  • Get together with some friends before my hibernation starts.
  • Wear a fifties dress.
  • Go see Kubo and the Two Strings at the cinema.
  • Send out some fun mail.
  • Read outdoors.
  • Get creative with some new craft supplies.
  • Start a new type of journal.
  • And enjoy the last of the summer fruit.

What do you still hope to squeeze into your summer? And how has it been so far?

Cast Off: Forest Fairy

Last year I got a newsletter from a yarn store that featured a gorgeous top. The moment I saw it I knew I had to make one. So I ordered the yarn and pattern and when that flu struck last month, I churned the top out in record time.

This was a fun project to make and I'm quite proud of the result. But I actually would not have had many things to pair it with if it weren't for my lovely mom that treated me to a beautiful vintage shirt a while back. It's a perfect match!

The sequins are a bit scratchy, I could have used slightly smaller needles and I kind of wished I hadn't cast off the stitches in the armpit like the pattern instructed, but despite all those things I am still very smitten with this project!

I know this isn't my first leafy project and it most likely won't be my last. Apparently I just love knitted leaves...

Last Call for Sunshine

I was afraid summer was over, but was crossing my fingers for just a bit more. And I got it! This whole week is supposed to be wonderful! The perfect chance to spend time outside and wear all the summer clothes I hadn't yet.

Ring: Six - Purse: H&M - Bracelet: bought on vacation - Skirt+Top: Vera & Lucy @ By Fabrio

Like this colorful set I picked up at this new affordable shop I discovered this summer. It can be worn together or separately. I saw it in the window and had to have it. Love that print! Also, I happened to have the perfect purse for it!

Owl Things Considered

I love this owl romper so much! Something about the combination of the cut and the print... It seems like the perfect summer outfit. Granted you'll have to strip down every time you pee, but if it's warm enough to wear it, that'll be ok.

Especially now I'm already looking forward to traveling, this is getting me really excited! I think it also reminds me of something I used to have as a kid, but I can't really remember exactly what. Anyway, pretty adorable, right?

Melting Away...

You might have noticed things are a bit quiet here. No, I'm not busy with other things. No, I haven't gone on some impromptu vacation. I've simply been doing this:

It's too hot to do anything and too hot to think. Especially indoors.
And as tough as it is for the humans in the house, I imagine my cat really drew the short straw with her permanent fur coat.

Anyway, things should be cooling down this week, so I'll be back with more elaborate posts soon.

And if you happen to have any tips to help cool me, my cat or this house down, please share!

Circle Songs #7

"Drawing pictures with some chalk. Raindrops wash it from the walk..."

When you grow up - Priscilla Ahn
{source: 1 - 2 - 3}

Time for a happy song with a perfect rhythm for this slow, rainy and warm weather we've been having.
And one of surprisingly few songs about childhood and future possibilities. Isn't that odd? Most important things in live have inspired loads of mucisians, you'd expect this one to be a lot more popular.

Au Revoir

This post is dedicated to my vacation to France. I'm leaving tomorrow and won't have internet access for 2 weeks. I left my Etsy shop open with the announcement that I can't send orders before the 1st of August. Needless to say I won't be blogging either. I know I haven't been blogging much, which also had to do with needing the time to pack, sign up for art school and all sorts of stuff that I had to take care of before going away.

However before I leave I wanted to give you (and me) a preview of my vacation.

Above are two pictures of the place I'll be staying. They'll be teaching yoga and giving all sorts of creative workshops. I'll be found making mosaics, sculptures, jewelry and make painting a little too.

Even though it's not the same place as the last few years, it's in the neighborhood, which allows me to visit my favorite city and do some shopping. Among others at the amazing store that sells LaMarelle merchandise. You can imagine what most of my money was spent on last time. But I believe they've added jewelry, so we'll see what happens now...

We'll even be staying in a hotel for one night, so there'll be plenty of time for Macarons:)

To top things off, there's a village full of artists nearby!

Which brings me to the dilemma whether or not I should take my SLR camera. It's a hassle, it's big, it's heavy and requires me to always keep an eye on it. But it takes much better pictures than my old camera with massive battery issues.

Either way I'll be back with some pictures at least.

Enjoy your summer too, and take care!

P.S. There will probably be another giveaway when I get back.

DON'T FORGET TO ENTER THE GIVEAWAY

Marvelous Music

A little while ago I came across an amazing artist and I've been listening to Washington every day now.

Apart from the fact that her music is amazing, this video would be fun to watch even if you somehow didn't like the song:

I mean wallpaper, art and animals, what could be better than that?

Just a Little Update

Even though I still have to take that test this week, it's not something I have to study for so I'm free to do whatever I like as long as I get a good night's sleep. Which means I've been working on some new designs. I don't want to spoil the surprise yet, but it will be cute and they will be available in many colors and listed soon, promise.

Other good news. There will be a heat wave by the end of the week. I know that doesn't sound that great, but as far as Dutch weather goes, this is basically the best we can hope for. It won't be that hot I think, but I might already be complaining later this week. Oh well, at least it's an excuse for ice cream and wearing dresses.
