A Little Finish and a Little Start

Gentle Friends, I finished up the HA sampler, and here's a snap...

"Heaven Above" - Midsummer Night Designs
40ct LL - Pearled Barley
Recommended Floss
4/11 - 5/12/22

A fun little stitch that seemed to work up quickly and now it's on to another sampler... I think I'm going to keep on stitching from stash for the next two projects.  The next piece I'm stitching came straight from my stash pile...  and was pulled entirely from stash.... I've had this chart sort of hovering in the background for years.  I always enjoy stitching Quaker pieces so here's a snap...

"M. Quertier 1799" from The Scarlet Letter
36ct Hot Mess from WDW

The 2 main silk colors I am using are Gloriana "Seaweed" and Silk 'N Colors "Tapestry Green"
I am also going to spot stitch in some Gloriana "Dried Pink Roses" and Elizabethan Green" - The sampler was originally stitched in all Black... but I'm not trying for a repro look and I choose my own path and colors.....

A Few More Doo-Dads....

Gentle Friends... still stitching away on Heaven Above... here's a snap...

... you may notice that the once Plum Paisley harp has now gone Apple Cider ... the symbols are very close and so I frogged the plum and stitched in apple!! I do like that there is a dog and kitty angel.

The text of the bottom half of this piece comes from the hymn by Isacc Watts written in 1709  "There is a Land of Pure Delight."  Only the first two stanzas are part of the piece.  Here's a really nice choral version of the hymn from whence (how often can I use the word whence) it came.... enjoy...

A Few Little Doo-Dads

Gentle Friends, instead of actually moving the old q-snap I just started in on the bits that need stitching in the up section... here's a snap...

... all these little bits are fun to stitch and much different than my usual so I'll just keep moving across and down with the "bit stitching" to the bottom part and the quote from Isaac Watts.

A Little Stitchin'

Gentle Friends, just plugging away on the newest stitch... here's a snap...

... it doesn't look like much but it took quite a few days to fill all that dark blue in...
now on to all the bits and the big angel!

A Little Finish and a Little Start

Gentle Friends, so I have finally finished up the stitching on a Deleware Inspiration... I made some big changes along the sides... here is a snap...

"A Deleware Inspiration" - Heart's Ease Examlar Workes
1/1/ - 4/6/2022
40 ct LL Vintage Navy Bean
Recommended Belle Soie/Classic Colorworks

The changes I made are pretty substantial... I added to the lower part of the center box - the over one grapevine on the right and the lower vine of red flowers which replaces and box for the name and date.  I also replaced the bunches of goldenrod made with french knots that would have appeared on either side of the box with the ladybugs and holly.  I initially stitched the bunch of goldenrod on the right side, I really hated it, so "knotty" and just not how I wanted this piece to look... so I frogged and snipped all the dozens of knots out and extended the roses into the space left open.  I am MUCH happier with the result and wish I had made the decision to stitch roses in the first place. Oh well, live and learn.

And... my start is on a sampler piece I've had in my stash for years.  Here's a snap...

"Heaven Above" - Midsummer Night Designs
40ct LL - Pearled Barley
Recommended Floss

Not much of a start but you get the idea.  It's a small piece so should stitch up fast.  Already looking ahead and have narrowed things to a few choices - just need to see if I have a piece of linen that I'll like and will fit and what floss I have or will need to get.
