A Little Stitchin' and some Abbey

Gentle Friends, still plugging away on MQ... here's a snaperoo...

... since this is my interpretation of the piece I've introduced a couple of more colors to the mix and changed up the initials...  and I'll make more changes along the way.

I'm a sucker for this franchise and loved the film... and will probably love anything else they release regarding the Crawley Clan!!!

Flashback Friday

Gentle Friends, so I picked for a flashback today a piece that I finished up at the beginning of 2012... here's a snaperoo...

I even dug back through my old blog posts to find the pertinent info:

I used my own conversion and added some extra colors...

Here is my conversion:

Green DMC934 to Belle Soie "Attic Tea"
Red DMC 3685 to Gloriana "Cranberry"
Blue DMC 3768 to Belle Soie "Chester's Blue"
Pink DMC3774 to Belle Soie "Pink Quartz"

White DMC3865 to Belle Soie "Oatmeal Scone"

added colours...
Brown - NPI 955
Orange - Belle Soie "Carrot Cake"
Black - Belle Soie "Noir"

A Little Stitchin'

Gentle Friends, stitching away on the lovely Miss Quertier... and loving it to pieces!!  Here's a snaperoo...

... since I am not doing a "repro" stitch I am really liking the dark blue, green, and purple of the silk floss that I chose - let's hear it for stash!!  I often wonder when I just arbitrarily buy lovely overdyed floss either silk or cotton when or if I'll ever use it in a project.  I have quite a few skeins of stuff I've bought over the years that languish in the pile... oh well those are projects for the future.

A Little Remembering

Gentle Friends,  today would have been my parent's 67th wedding anniversary...

... from the wedding album, my favorite picture of that long ago rainy Sunday.

Flashback Friday

Gentle Friends, how's about an oldie but a goodie.... this was a chart I hunted a long time to find and eventually won one on the Bay of Evil...  I loved stitching this piece and it now languishes in the box of completed stitches...  here's a snaperoo...

"Plantation Sampler" by Canterbury Designs - August 8th - November 13, 2016
My Conversion of Belle Soie (Classic Colorworks Silk)

A Little Finish and a Little Start

Gentle Friends, I finished up the HA sampler, and here's a snap...

"Heaven Above" - Midsummer Night Designs
40ct LL - Pearled Barley
Recommended Floss
4/11 - 5/12/22

A fun little stitch that seemed to work up quickly and now it's on to another sampler... I think I'm going to keep on stitching from stash for the next two projects.  The next piece I'm stitching came straight from my stash pile...  and was pulled entirely from stash.... I've had this chart sort of hovering in the background for years.  I always enjoy stitching Quaker pieces so here's a snap...

"M. Quertier 1799" from The Scarlet Letter
36ct Hot Mess from WDW

The 2 main silk colors I am using are Gloriana "Seaweed" and Silk 'N Colors "Tapestry Green"
I am also going to spot stitch in some Gloriana "Dried Pink Roses" and Elizabethan Green" - The sampler was originally stitched in all Black... but I'm not trying for a repro look and I choose my own path and colors.....

Flashback Friday

Gentle Friends, today is a two-for-one flashback...  the first piece I stitched for my Mom and gave to her for Christmas 2011...

Months of the Year by Little House needleworks
Mostly the called for floss on 36ct something...

... she had seen me working on it and loved it, it was very much to her taste, she also wanted to have it framed herself... so the frame is one I wouldn't have picked.... but whatever, it made her happy.  I then stitched this as a companion piece over the Spring of 2012...

Months of the Year by Country Cottage Needleworks
Some of the called for floss and mostly my conversion
36ct Something

...and was all prepared for Christmas 2012, but she passed away at Thanksgiving so into the "box of stitched and yet to be framed" pieces it went and when we broke up my Mom's house I took the framed one... it now hangs in the "stairway gallery."  I still like the framed piece and when I see it I think of my Mom.

Flashback Friday

Gentle friends, I've decided I need to post more about stitching... so I landed on the idea of a Flashback Friday where I'll post a snap of something from the past I've stitched.... this week I'm posting something I see every day and just love...

.... from Sheepish Designs, my version of Alpha Bird, Alpha Menagerie, and Alpha Sheep.  I combined the three charts into a single sampler and to get them to work together I charted the spacer sections between them.  Long out of print these super charts were hard to find back in 2010 and I had to borrow one of them from another stitcher just to get my sticky paws on it for the complete set.  I loved stitching this piece and as I said before it hangs where I see it every single day.  For these posts, I'll probably toggle back and forth between framed and unframed pieces.  I frame my stitching under glass so you'll have to forgive the reflections.

A Few More Doo-Dads....

Gentle Friends... still stitching away on Heaven Above... here's a snap...

... you may notice that the once Plum Paisley harp has now gone Apple Cider ... the symbols are very close and so I frogged the plum and stitched in apple!! I do like that there is a dog and kitty angel.
________________

The text of the bottom half of this piece comes from the hymn by Isacc Watts written in 1709  "There is a Land of Pure Delight."  Only the first two stanzas are part of the piece.  Here's a really nice choral version of the hymn from whence (how often can I use the word whence) it came.... enjoy...
