Fall Inspiration: Burgundy + Olive

I am loving these two colors for fall and need to get a couple pieces in these colors to incorporate into my fall wardrobe.

I love the versatility of these dresses. And I am always down for a scarf, fall or not.

Hope you have a fabulous, long weekend planned! Happy Labor Day.

PS... I have FUN news to share on Monday!

Fall Overalls Look

I am such a big fan of overalls. I wore them the first go around in the 90s and can't stop lusting over them now.

I love the skinny look and how they can be dressed up or down. And give me all the distressing!

Here are some of my favorite overall looks around the web:

Casual Summer Outfit

I'm not sure if "What I Wore Wednesday" is still a thing, but I'm playing anyway. It is in the 80's this week and I was excited to bring out some summer pieces.
Here is the look recreated, with some of the same pieces:
v-neck tee // panama hat // coral pants // leather belt // silver lake tieks

I bought these pants a couple seasons ago, but they look like the same ones. And the best part is that they're only $30 from Zara.

And I finally got a pair of the fabric (vegan) Tieks. Love them!

Bohemian Vibes

The boho style is a bit of a stretch for me.

But as the weather is getting warmer, I've been lusting over all the flowy, printed and bohemian styles online.
Floppy Fedora // Denim Vest // Necklace // Tropical Jumpsuit // Sunglasses // Blush Flats // Raffia Clutch // Neon Cuff

It's definitely a fun style to mix with preppy, edgy and romantic pieces. Also, how fabulous are those flats and sunglasses!

Fall in Burgundy & Gray

I am a huge fan of Shopbop... and even more so when they have a good sale going on! Their friends and family sale just started and I am definitely going to stock up on some fall staples.

Here are a few items on my list:
Burn out clutch // Checkered scarf // Burgundy sunglasses // Quilted bag // Floral umbrella // Suede booties // Buckle tote

These booties might be the first purchase. Love the neutral gray! I also don't own anything burgundy. I think this color for a purse is perfect in the fall/winter. Get the 25% off Friends & Family discount with the code FAMILY25.

And while we're on the topic of fall goodies... did you see the new Tieks that just came out? I'm in love!
This gray wool version looks so cozy and perfect for fall!

Fall Essentials: Booties + Loafers

I am still enjoying sandals after being in the rainy Dublin weather for two years. But fall is upon us and its almost time for shoe transition.

Loafers and booties are a few of my fall essentials this year. Looking forward to adding these to my wardrobe soon!
Kitty slipper loafer // Brown leather bootie // Leopard print loafer
Black leather bootie // Beach leather bootie // Stitch slip-on loafer // Bee Happy slipper loafer

What are some of your fall favorites that I can add to my list?? :)

Fall Favorites

It's sad to see the summer go, but I am so happy we came back from Ireland in time for some gorgeous Cali weather. We were craving it after 2 years of rainy and windy weather... that and Mexican food. :)

But it's definitely beginning to look like fall around here... so I thought I would share some of my favorite fall finds.
Rucksack bag // Lace top // Plaid camisole // Fleece hat // Gray booties // Flannel button down

I am a big fan of this flowy lace top and a good plaid print always works perfectly with fall for me.

Guest post from Love and Bellinis

Hey guys! I'm Jaclyn from Love And Bellinis and I'm so honored to be guest posting for Jessica. Our girl is living the dream, touring Europe, as I'm sure you are all aware... so I'll be filling in for her today while she's away.

I'm excited to share some of my favorite summer staples with you, these are the essentials I absolutely cannot live without during my favorite season of the year....
http://www.polyvore.com/summer_staples/set?.embedder=8457965&.svc=blogger&id=127583361
one // This St. Tropez Lotion works as an anti-aging creme and a sunless tanner. It gives me the most perfect gradual tan without ever looking orange or streaky.

two // Caudalie's Divine Oil was given to me as a wedding gift and has remained a favorite ever since. I love spraying it on my arms and legs in the summer to give them a pretty, moisturized glow.

three // I basically live in these silky camis during the summer. They're so comfortable and can easily be dressed up or down.

four // I cannot leave the house without my Oliver's Peoples Shades. Every year I try on other brands, but I always end up remaining loyal to my OPs.

five // White Cut-Off Shorts are my go-to as long as it's warm out. Nothing looks more flattering against tan legs.

six // Diptyque's Baies is a gorgeous scent. I always pull this out once the weather turns nice and it's my favorite candle to burn in the summer while we're having company over.

I love these picks! Just picked up this oil and candle while in Paris and can't wait to use them! Thank you so much for filling in while I am away, Jaclyn!

Vacation packing

Yesterday, we left for Venice, Italy. We came here a couple days early since we had never been to Venice and to celebrate the bird's birthday.

Here's some gorgeous packing inspiration to kick off this vacation:
Orchid bikini top & bottom // Raffia backpack // Summertime tank // Cat eye sunglasses // White espadrilles // Floppy hat

Is this not the perfect summer pack? I also wish I had these espadrilles in my bag. I'll have to settle for my new Converse.

On Saturday, we depart on our cruise! We've been waiting for this fabulous vacation for so long! On the crusie, we stop at Dubrovnik, Croatia; Corfu, Katakolon, Santorini, Greece; and Istanbul, Turkey. We have 3 nights stay in Istanbul after our cruise lands. Definitely the grand finale send off for our time in Europe!

I have a few lovely guest posts lined up while I am away. Enjoy and have a great weekend! Feel free to follow along on Instagram @birdietobe

Outfit Inspiration: spring edition

Last winter I posted some outfit inspiration in the form of selfies. I wanted to do another post for spring outfits.

As you can tell, spring in Dublin isn't very warm. But it beats fur vest and big coats everyday.
Faux leather pink jacket, sold out (similar here) // Slouch tee in gray // Ankle booties (similar here)
Tieks in Ballerina pink (my favorite spring go-to!) // Chambray top (similar here)

I know it sounds ridiculous, but taking these pictures seriously helps me get ready everyday. I look up these pictures when I'm feeling less than inspired about my closet picks. They're a quick reminder of what I can easily throw on and go.

Wedding guest wear

While we don't have any weddings to attend (yet!) this year, I absolutely love wedding season. I love the planning, prettiness and celebration of it all.

So in anticipation of the exciting weddings coming up next summer, here's some outfit inspiration for wedding guest attire.

This dress is so pretty and would even make a gorgeous bridesmaid dress. I am also swooning over these shoes (which are currently on sale)!

In other news... I mentioned a couple weeks back I was taking my first solo European trip. The time has come and gone to post all about it, but I leave for Brussels, Belgium on Monday! I am definitely looking forward to the adventure and hope to do just fine as an independent traveler.

Any tips or suggestions for Brussels? Send them my way!

Happy Friday!

Summer Staples

It has been in the low to mid 60s here in Dublin... such a treat! Sunshine really makes this city shine and come to life.

Here are some fabulous summer staples because I have been oh so inspired by a couple days of sun:
summer dress // metallic strapped sandals // eyelet top // two-tone wedges // ikat printed pant

I am loving this summer dress... light, flowy and such a pretty print. I also love these sandals, which remind me of the Joie ones I've had my eye on, but at a much sweeter price.

I hope you have a fabulous weekend. Our friends are still in town and we are headed off for some fun in Galway tomorrow, which is on the west coast of Ireland. Looking forward to catching up on Monday.

Guest post: Ally of Life As I Know It

Today, Ally is taking over the blog while I am away. She is fabulous and I couldn't be more excited to have her here! And how fabulous is this look she put together! Perfect Paris look.

Hey guys I'm Ally from Life as I know it. I'm taking over for Jessica today while she's in gorgeous Paris with her mom for the week. I don't about you but seeing all of the amazing places Jessica gets to visit makes me uber jealous! She and her husband have had some awesome opportunities and I love following along on their journey through her blog.

She told me I could post about anything so my mind automatically went to fashion. I'm a Registered Nurse as my real job but if I could have any job I'd love to work in fashion. Maybe it's the fact I wear scrubs everyday but assembling outfits and shopping is my passion. I decided to put together a simple but cute outfit to wear whether you're touring Paris like Jessica or walking around your own town.
Untitled #25
First I chose this adorable Chambray shirtdress. I love how chambray is a neutral and you can wear it for any season. Madewell makes the softest denim so I'm sure this dress will feel like you're wearing you pj's. With the sun beating down on your head a hat is a necessity. This cute bucket hat would shield your face from the sun while still looking chic. I can't rave enough about the Cuyana Leather tote. I own one in this caramel color and it goes with everything. It's the softest leather and I love that you can personalize it by adding your initials. I'm sure Paris is a bit cooler temperatures right now than where I am in Charleston, SC so I figured a cute scarf could protect you from a cool breeze. I love how this scarf has so much going on with the pop of red and the polka dots. Lastly, you need a comfortable pair of flats. I have yet to try a pair of Tieks but I have heard nothing but great reviews. A pair of bright red shoes are just what this outfit needs to bring it all together.

Hope you're having a great time Jessica and I know we all can't wait to see pictures of your trip when you get back! Thanks for having me! xoxo

Converse Inspired Friday

I have seen Converse around the web lately and am dying for a pair. I love the look of them for spring and summer.
one // two // three // four

Here is my take on a perfect go-to outfit for summer with these white sneakers:

I am so excited for my trip to Paris tomorrow and even more excited to see my mom. It has been over 4 months. Dublin certainly makes me homesick and I look forward to recharging with her this coming week.

Stayed tuned for some fun guest posts and follow along in Paris via Instagram (@birdietobe)!

Midweek Musings

Today's third edition of midweek musings comes in the form of lovely Pinterest finds.

The weather here is gloomy again today and I thought this board would brighten things up a bit.

1 // The brightness and colors of this bedroom are gorgeous. I hope to recreate this look & feel once we move back home.

2 // I love this pineapple print design. So fun and summery.

3 // This would be such a lovely piece to take to the beach this summer. I need something like this for our cruise in July.

4 // What better treat than homemade pretty pink ice cream in waffles cones.

Here are past midweek musing editions I and II.

Spring Essentials

I am wrapping up the week with my spring picks for this year. In case you missed it, here's a link to my winter favorites.

Linen scarf // Sunglasses // Bucket Bag // Striped espadrilles // Denim shorts

The bucket bag design is growing on me and I definitely like it in this cool gray color. And if you ask me, you can't go wrong with a combo of blush pink, denim shorts and striped espadrilles.

Don't forget about the giveaway week starting Monday, April 7th!

And thanks for putting up with my consecutive vacation recap posts last week!

Have a lovely weekend!

I am beyond excited to be spending the next 5 days, including my birthday, in southern Italy on the Amalfi Coast!

Packing for vacations always makes me so giddy. Here are five lovely pieces that I think would suit Italy perfectly.

Here's our itinerary and rough plan:
Day 1: Land and stay in Rome
Day 2: Train down through Naples to Sorrento
Day 3/4: Staying in Positano for 2 nights
Day 5/6: 2 nights on the island of Capri

I know I said this before, but recommendations are the best. If you have any, please shoot me an email or leave a comment below.

Hope you have a lovely weekend! Feel free to follow along on our adventures on Instagram @birdietobe.

St. Paddy's Day green

St. Paddy's Day is around the corner and it is actually a holiday over here in Dublin. St. Patrick's Day is also my birthday! A good day all around.

However, besides the one green shirt I have that usually comes out around Christmas time, I have never been much of a green person. So here is a subtle look for St. Paddy's Day if you're in the same boat as me:
crocodile print top // cropped pant // leopard belt // mint polish // statement necklace // cork & nude wedge

I actually love the pattern of this shirt and that it's a very subdued green print. It also comes in the short sleeve Riley cut too- aka my favorite shirt ever.

Happy Weekend!
