We Have a Bear in Our House...

This has been a busy season for Braden.  4th grade requires tons of homework. Lots of reading and then more homework.  He also started piano lessons in January, not sure if I ever blogged that, he is taking from a great lady in our ward named Hollie Lunt.  He has already advanced to his second set of books.  This last Thursday was a particularly busy one for him.  He got home from school at 3, had piano 3:30 until 4:15, then he had to eat and get ready for a baseball game at 5.  The game started at 5:30, he played for an hour and then we raced over to the church so he could change and make it to pack meeting at 6:30!

His brothers love the ballfields.  A little too much! Brenner didn't get the memo that we had somewhere to be later...

He had to wrestle a bear (aka his Dad) it was hilarious. They basically took the tent down, it got a little (LOT) rowdy. Everyone was laughing.  It was for sure a moment at pack meeting to remember.
He received his Bear, and a gold arrow and two silver arrows.  Plus a belt loop or two.
He is moving on to Webelow's where he will be one of two for a couple months, which is crazy since there are about 18 wolves.  So proud of our boy.

Braden's 1st Pinewood Derby...

Well, we hit another milestone in our scouting careers.  Braden had his first Pinewood Derby earlier this month. He and Rusty had a fun time building and painting the car. Berk had to make one too, although his we called a race bus, because it was an uncut block of wood. He was happy with it anyway! Here are some pictures from the big night!
All the cars before the race.
Here is Berk and Jaci watching Braden's car "Layin' Down Rubber" win his first heat by a ton!
 Braden and his car
Braden and his buddy Tiege. They had so much fun racing!
The boys getting their awards and treats.
Braden got THIRD place overall! Not bad for his first race.
Proud Dad and son after the race was all over!

Bobcat on the Loose...

Well, in the middle of Berk;s big birthday celebrations we had to take a time-out and head to the church for Braden's first ever Pack Meeting! He sure looks cute in his uniform. I sucked it up and busted out the sewing machine and got all his patches on and in the right place. (Did you know this is the centennial year off scouts? So, Braden got a nifty little patch to go around his purple scout patch that says as much. Which is why it looks different to you scout savvy folks)Whew. I was so glad they were done, until I had the thought that he will continue to earn badges for EVER, throw in having two more boys to come and I guess I may as well keep the trusty machine out.
Berk was so cute, he said, "Take my picture with Braden too!" He kept asking us when pack meeting was, even though he had NO clue what it meant.  Way to be supportive buddy!
Waiting to get started.  Some of my favorite ladies are in the scouts in our ward, and I happened to get the best shot of them in this picture! Love ya R.T. and S.B.
 The uniform check.
Well Braden got his Bobcat and no one told me that meant I got a prize too! A cute little Bobcat pin! Wahoo! You know I love me some jewelry ;) That night getting ready for bed, he came to remind me to take it off my sweater so it wouldn't get lost.
 Proud parents with our Bobcat!
After his patch was given, he had to 'bob' for apples. He looked at me like "why didn't you warn me!" It was so funny. He is soaking wet in thi picture but I love the excitement in his eyes!
Well, the first of a billion pack meetings in under our belts! Yipee for scouts!
