Lunasol Skin Modeling Eyes #01 Beige Beige

Lunasol Skin Modeling Eyes #01 Beige Beige

Here's my little secret; I am obsessed with neutral-toned eyeshadows that accounted almost half of my eyeshadow stash. I love how the variations of beiges, browns and grays can create a barely-there, effortlessly elegant look.

Lunasol Skin Modeling Eyes #01 Beige Beige

One of the neutral-toned eyeshadow palettes I had been looking to purchase was Lunasol Skin Modeling Eyes #01 Beige Beige, which was launched in spring 2007. It has been one of the best-selling, award-winning eyeshadows in Japan, and has regularly been featured in numerous Japanese beauty magazines for its everyday wearability and pure elegance.

Colors
  • Upper Left: light champagne with subtle gold flecks
  • Upper Right: gold-toned nude beige with pearl shimmer
  • Bottom Left: beige taupe with micro-fine silver shimmer
  • Bottom Right: dark brown with subtle gold shimmer
Lunasol Skin Modeling Eyes #01 Beige Beige

All the colors are light except the dark brown. The nude beige and nude taupe are more or less on the same level of pigmentation. Both colors are light-pigmented, while the dark brown is moderately-pigmented.

The light champagne with gold flecks is intensely sparkling, but the glitter is not chunky or flaky. The rest of the shades have delicate and finely-milled shimmering particles
.

Lunasol Skin Modeling Eyes #01 Beige Beige

Texture

These eyeshadows are light, smooth, and easy to blend.

Finish
The colors in #01 Beige Beige coordinate to each other well, and are very wearable and natural-looking for my fair skin.

The dark brown with medium pigment softly and understatedly defines the eyes. Both the gold-toned nude beige and nude taupe in #01 Beige Beige work great as shading colors for me. I like that the nude beige evens out skin tone and brightens up the eyes with a gold-toned finish.

And the nude taupe adds dimension with a subtle silver sheen. The only shade I don't really like is the champagne gold glitter. It is too intense for my liking, but works fine as a highlighting color for evening makeup.

Lasting Power
The colors don't crease, and last well throughout the day.

Lunasol Skin Modeling Eyes #01 Beige Beige

Summary

Note that the colors from #01 Beige Beige are mostly light. The colors work well together, and create subtle depth and dimension to the eyes for fair to medium skin types. On the other hand, they might not show up well on medium to darker complexions.

I think what makes Lunasol Skin Modeling Eyes #01 Beige Beige unique is its wearability and subtlety. The color combination gives a clean, understated yet classy look that is suitable for all occasions, especially office and day casual occasions.

Lip Palette EX01 from Lunasol Skin Modeling Eyes Starter Kit

Lip Palette EX01 from Lunasol Skin Modeling Eyes Starter Kit

Lip Palette EX01 from Lunasol Skin Modeling Eyes Starter Kit was released in mid March in Japan. Apart from Lip Palette EX01, the starter kit also comes with Skin Modeling Eyes palette in #01 Beige Beige. This review focuses on Lip Palette EX01 and I will provide another review on Skin Modeling Eyes palette in #01 Beige Beige later.

Lunasol Lip Palette EX01

Colors from the top down in the picture above:
  • Full Glamour Lips S17 Shining Beige: pink nude beige
  • Full Glamour Lips S22 White Beige Pink: light pink beige
  • Full Glamour Lips G24 Natural Beige: terracotta beige
  • Full Glamour Lips G15 Beige Pink: mid-tone rosy beige
The top two shades are from the Full Glamour Lips S range, while the bottom two shades are from the Full Glamour Lips G range. Full Glamour Lips S (launched in Fall 2008) and Full Glamour Lips G (launched in Spring 2008) are the current two lipstick ranges in Lunasol's point makeup line.

The four shades are beige-based with fine, multi-colored shimmer. The pigments are so sheer that the color differences between each shade are not very noticeable.

I love the fact that they have a supple, buttery consistency. It is easy to spread and blend the colors. The texture is moist and weightless like a smooth lip balm.

With one layer, it imparts a translucent finish with a subtle sheen. However, the colors can be layered to provide a hint of color with a dewy glow while the pigments stay true.

Full Glamour Lips S and Full Glamour Lips G lipsticks are very moisturizing to my dry lips. They are among the most moisturizing lipsticks I have ever tried. The lasting power is good for a lipstick with such a moisturizing and smooth texture.

Lip Palette EX01 from Lunasol Skin Modeling Eyes Starter Kit

Summary
I think Lip Palette EX01 features four wearable beige-toned lipsticks that are flattering on all skin types for daytime and night makeup.

If you like sheer-pigmented, light-textured lip colors with subtle, fine shimmer, Lip Palette EX01 from Lunasol Skin Modeling Eyes Starter Kit is a good choice. The pigments are on the sheer side, but these colors are buildable for a hint of color.
The refined shimmer and the gloss-like texture naturally plump up my lips, and imparts a soft, dewy shine.

The colors last well without fading or feathering. Of course, I still need to touch up the lip colors after drinks or meals.
Furthermore, these lip colors are very moisturizing for my dry lips.

This is my first time to try Lunasol 's Full Glamour Lips S and Full Glamour Lips G lipsticks. I definitely will keep an eye on
Lunasol's lipsticks in the future.

Jill Stuart Mix Blush Compact #12 Candy Orange from Jill Stuart Spring 2010 Collection

Jill Stuart Mix Blush Compact

Usually, I am not a big fan of pink blushes, which I think it makes me look like having an alcohol flush reaction (a.k.a Asian glow.) I prefer bronzers or neutral-toned blushes to create a natural-looking effect for my fair complexion. However, Jill Stuart Mix Blush Compact (in #12 Candy Orange) that I bought not long ago has made me fall in love with a touch of pink blush once again.

#12 Candy Orange (in peachy pink variation) is one of the two blush palettes from Jill Stuart's spring 2010 makeup collection. The other one is #11 Rose Fairy (in pink variation). #12 Candy Orange is my first Mix Blush Compact, and immediately became my one of my favorite blushes.

Jill Stuart Mix Blush Compact #12 Candy Orange

Packaging

Mix Blush Compact is one of Jill Stuart's top-selling ranges since the blush range was launched in fall 2007. Its various pink-based colors, ultra princessy and dreamy vintage packaging are a winning recipe.

I keep most of my makeup items in containers and only take out the items I need to use when I do makeup. But Mix Blush Compact sits beautifully on my vanity table. It is the perfect item to decorate my vanity.

The retractable brush with dense goat hair feels soft on the skin. It also comes with a detachable chain that is attached to the palette. Inside the palette is a mirror that is big enough for quick touch-ups.

Jill Stuart Mix Blush Compact #12 Candy Orange

Color

Top left: off-white pink with subtle sheen
Top right: golden orange with subtle shimmer
Bottom left: cherry pink with subtle shimmer
Bottom right: peachy coral with subtle shimmer

Shimmer & Pigment
Though the colors look bright and intense in the pans, they go on light and sheer. The shimmer appears rather subtle and demure.

The off-white pink is the sheerest shade, and the golden orange is the second lightest shade among the four colors. The bright cherry pink and peachy coral are more pigmented, but they are still on the light side compared to the blushers from Western brands.

Texture
The power is blendable, buildable, and has a refined and silky smooth texture. It is easy to pick up the colors with the brush.

Finish
#12 Candy Orange is a versatile palette. While the off-white pink is great for highlighting, the golden orange provides a soft shading/contouring effect. The subtle shimmer gives a soft glow without looking overly shiny or shimmery.

I love the fact that colors from this blush compact can be applied together or individually to create different tones, pigments and shimmering effects. When blended, the colors impart a touch of light peachy pink with a fresh, luminous finish.

Lasting Power
It has a fairly good lasting power.

Summary
I love the soft colors, light pigments and subtle shimmer in #12 Candy Orange palette. The color combination is one of the most lovely cheek colors I have ever tried. It creates a lovely peachy pink finishing touch of color that is suitable for daytime.

Compared to the blushers by Western brands, #12 Candy Orange is on the light side. Applying it with a light hand achieves a barely-there coverage with a transparent, luminous finish.

Personally, I think #12 Candy Orange is more versatile than #11 Rose Fairy (in pink variation.) Available in both warm and cool tones, the pink and orange colors coordinate well to be mixed and matched for both cool or warm skin tones.

If you have fair skin and have been thinking of trying Jill Stuart's blushers, Jill Stuart Mix Blush Compact in #12 Candy Orange is definitely recommended.

Shiseido Luminizing Lip Gloss in PK303 Bellini

After I tried Shiseido's Perfect Rouge in BE109 Spiced Cream and Smoothing Lip Pencil in RD702 Anemone, I have fallen for this makeup line that was revamped just a year ago. I love its clear seasonal makeup themes, sophisticated and wearable colors.

Luminizing Lip Gloss in PK301 Bellini from Shiseido's spring 2010 collection is the latest addition to my Shiseido makeup stash.

Shiseido Luminizing Lip Gloss in PK303 Bellini

Color

Luminizing Lip Gloss is currently available in 8 shades in pink, lilac, red, beige, brown and sheer transparent tones. PK303 Bellini is one of the two pink lip glosses in the lineup. It has hints of beige and rose undertones.

The other pink-based lip gloss, PK406 Pop Life, is cool-toned with subtle shimmer, while PK303 Bellini is warm-toned with subtle shimmer.

Shiseido Luminizing Lip Gloss in PK303 Bellini

Texture

Shiseido's Lumizing Lip Gloss has no scents. It has a lightweight and silky smooth consistency that feels thinner than my Chanel Lèvres Scintillantes Glossimer lip gloss in Pin-up and thicker than my Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss Reflect in #247 Cotton Petal. Chanel Lèvres Scintillantes Glossimer lip gloss in Pin-up has a relatively thick texture, and Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss Reflect in #247 Cotton Petal is watery in consistency.

The brush applicator is easy to use. Lumizing Lip Gloss glides on easily, and feels smooth and moisturizing on the lips. It is not sticky nor waxy, and more importantly, it does not dry out my lips.

Pigment & Finish
PK 303 Bellini looks way more pigmented in the tube than what it shows on my lips. Even its pigmentation is light to medium, it goes on less pigmented than I expected. It gives a light coverage with a glossy shine and luminous finish, however. On my lips, the subtle shimmer is muted and barely detectable.

Lasting Power
It doesn't have a long lasting power due to its slightly light texture. However, I don't have any feathering problems with this lip gloss.

Shiseido Luminizing Lip Gloss in PK303 Bellini

Summary
I am happy with PK303 Bellini. The coverage is on the light side. This beige and rose-toned soft pink goes well with my Shiseido's Perfect Rouge in BE109 Spiced Cream and Smoothing Lip Pencil in RD702 Anemone. The shade is very wearable and office-appropriate for a casual daytime look.

Dolce & Gabbana The Make Up The Roses Lipstick Collection

Dolce & Gabbana The Make Up The Roses Lipstick Collection

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana proudly celebrate the first year anniversary of Dolce & Gabbana The Make Up with The Roses Lipstick Collection. Dolce & Gabbana The Make Up is a visionary translation of two decades of straight-from-the-runway colour reinterpreted into a colour cosmetic collection that transcends time, tradition, and trends. The Make Up continues to evolve with The Roses Lipstick Collection and captures implicit femininity and explicit sensuality, inspiring desire and reinventing modern beauty.

The Roses Lipstick Collection, a collection of five new lipsticks, is a celebration of lip colour as the star product and essential heart and sensual soul of the Dolce & Gabbana The Make Up. It is a tribute to the most singular of flowers, the rose, and the forever fundamental inspiration of all that is-and has always been-Dolce & Gabbana. This collection explores the primal lure of lipstick: the essence of sensuality as both an intimately private and a disarmingly public gesture.

A salute to the iconic glamour of the 1950s-its underlying eroticism, its smoldering sensuality-The Roses Lipstick Collection embodies the utmost in seduction. Lips, the ultimate symbol of feminine allure, are enhanced and emboldened as the key to a woman’s duality-her simplicity and complexity, her strength and vulnerability.

“To me, lips are a woman’s most evocative feature; they are the focus of her femininity, the key to her innermost being. The shades she wears must capture her many moods,” says Domenico Dolce, “since the rose has always been an icon to us, representing deep womanly sensuality in full bloom, it seemed natural that it served equally as inspiration in our quest for the perfect collection of lipsticks.”

“We also wanted to emphasize the act of applying lipstick, which should be the most luxurious and most intimate of beauty rituals, so finding the perfect rose scent was crucial,” says Stefano Gabbana, “as the design of the lipstick as an object of absolute beauty too, is essential.”

Each and every lipstick shares an intoxicating velvety smooth fragrance redolent of the wild rose gardens of Sicily, innate to the designers’ deepest roots. Inspired by these classic and beloved rose gardens, the designers have further transformed the ‘100 petals’ scent (omnipresent throughout the lip products in The Make Up collection) to live as a modern formulation that evokes a euphoric sensory experience. Adding further nostalgia, when the lipstick case is shut, a special clicking sound adds a hint of intrigue.

The Shades:
The Roses Lipstick Collection consists of five extraordinary lipsticks with nuanced shades ranging from bold to delicate, inspired by five memorably unique roses. A result of the designers’ discerning eye, eachlipstick’s colour meticulously matches its namesake rose. Each lipstick shade is taken from a classic antique wild rose that has been carefully cultivated as a modern hybrid.

The Dolce & Gabbana signature nod to contrast is omnipresent as classic meets modern, bold meets delicate, and pure vivid colour meets weightless supple texture. The palette encapsulates the essence of femininity-a woman’s inner spirit, soul and sensuality. Each colour satiates the senses with its delicate fragrance, silky texture, and vivid finish. Five exceptional roses render five essential lipsticks, providing endless combinations of eclectic moods and eloquent looks. Dolce & Gabbana salute the ultimate flower with the ultimate lipstick, revealing the ultimate glamour.

the classic lipstick
Scarlett, a shade inspired by the most classic of all roses, the vibrant Scarlett Fire Rose, is the sole Classic Cream Lipstick of the collection. Scarlett is dedicated with love and admiration for The Designers’ longtime muse Scarlett Johansson, who epitomizes femininity and glamour at its most pure, most provocative and primal. Just as the rose-and particularly this select group of roses-Scarlett encompasses femininity and glamour in all its various guises; a cool blue-red shade... bold, magical, luminous and lasting.

the shine lipsticks
Shine On, inspired by a relatively recent hybrid, the Rosa Shine On, which is characterized by a tender infusion of apricot, peach and gold. The lipstick is kissed by light and glows with sparkling hints of blush tones.

Magnifica, inspired by the deeply fragrant mauve-red rose, the Rosa Magnifica, is a warm red with a sleek shine and daring intensity that reflects the essence of all that is Dolce & Gabbana sophistication and style.

Baby Darling, inspired by Rosa Baby Darling, a miniature apricot-pink rose, the shade is a lustrous pale pink with a subtle, delicate shine to glaze the lips with natural luminosity.

Fascination, inspired by the most modern of the hybrids, the Rosa Fascinata, a precious pink rose with a demure scent. Fascination is a lush, yet delicate deep pink with distinctive shine and innate duality.

The Look
Masterful make-up artist Pat McGrath continues her collaboration with Dolce & Gabbana, creating a new look that is all about reds, roses and pinks-and all about Scarlett Johansson’s powerful yet ethereal femininity.

The look is daring and evocative with contrast as a key inspiration. Imbued with pure light and glowing colour, an air of immediacy and drama meets a distilled elegance that results in a look that is cool yet tender, fresh yet sexy-and simply enchanting.

The focus is on the lips; they are lush, soft and seductive-and truly Scarlett, through their shade and soul. The lipliner in Ruby underscores the bold lip, adding definition and emphasis. Cheeks radiate a flushed thanks to the blush in Rose. Eyes shine softly with exuberant luminosity in subtle colour from the eyeshadow quad in Mediterraneo; lined with the eyeliner in Coffee and further defined with the mascara in Black.

“I wanted to create a range of lipsticks that really reflected Domenico and Stefano’s longtime obsession with roses as the ultimate flower expressing love, lust, femininity and life”, says Pat McGrath, “at the same time, I wanted to celebrate the remarkably comprehensive palette - with so much colour in just five lipsticks. The goal was to uncover new and intimate layers within Scarlett in a classic yet modern way. To capture the intensity of the moment, I played with strong contrast to create a full range of rose-inspired shades. The Designers envisioned warm and cool tones in matte and gloss finishes - and I think the collection reflects this. It is classically elegant with a modern rogue sensuality”.

For Valentine’s Day
The Roses Lipstick Collection enriches, from now on, the Dolce&Gabbana The Make Up line. Celebrate your innate femininity with a ‘single stem’ or a ‘five-rose bouquet’ that will last longer than a day. Indulge in your personal style on Valentine’s Day with your own look and your own shade. Celebrate Dolce & Gabbana beauty... with a gift that will last forever and the next day.

The Roses Lipstick Collection:
  • the classic lipstick in Scarlett 185 ($30 USD)
  • the shine lipstick in Shine On 75 ($30 USD)
  • the shine lipstick in Magnifica 105 ($30 USD)
  • the shine lipstick in Baby Darling 145 ($30 USD)
  • the shine lipstick in Fascination 165 ($30 USD)
