sunday lunch

Autumn arrived right on cue with a cool change. Wet & wild days fooled us into thinking the warm weather was gone for good. Until yesterday when the sun appeared and things heated up again.
A perfect day for lunch on the deck.

We love our deck. It's something that makes living in a unit / apartment enjoyable. Facing east it catches the morning sun and is sheltered from wind and the heat of the afternoon. We get a small glimpse of the ocean and sometimes I see ships passing by on the horizon. At night we can hear the waves at the beach.

Lots of potted plants are our garden and not having a lawn to mow is an added bonus, which means more time for the beach or the golf course for the golf nut of the family. ;)

How's the weather where you are?

white christmas table

It still seems a bit early to be talking about Christmas. All I've done is a bit of decorating and not much else. I'd be quite happy to take care of that part and leave the rest to someone else, but that's not going to happen.
Here's an idea for a simple white table setting. The doilies came in handy again, white hydrangeas from our lovely neighbour's garden, with lots of candlelight & fairy lights to add some magic.

Have you done any Christmas decorating or shopping?

table for 2

these days it's rare that the 4 of us are home for dinner. it's often just the 2 of us.
..and this weekend fathers' day was quiet around here 'cause the father of the house is away enjoying the great snow conditions & why not! so this table for 2 will have to wait for later.

when i do catch my kids at home i've been asking for help with instagram. if you'd like to follow me my profile name is beachcomber26. are you on instagram?

still enjoying warm but cloudy weather here & some good waves on the coast.

this is a simple white table setting i thought would be an idea for a beach wedding or any special occasion really. choose your own words or names using scrabble tiles. loving the white dahlias here & how beautiful they are to photograph.

table by the sea

today i love..
dried hydrangeas..driftwood..rattan..shells..stripes..fishing floats..jars & candles, mixed together as though they were washed up on the shore, for a coastal tablescape.

i've had the hydrangeas for weeks now, picked from a white flowering plant. the green flowers, picked before they turn white seem to dry well.

have a great week!

dining out

hi everyone..

this is something i prepared earlier, after the daybed post. we don't usually have all this white outside, i don't think it would stay white for long, but i did have fun creating this.
i used a white sheet for the tablecloth ,decided i'm liking the non ironed look here, and scoured the house for white things. it was one of the first warm spring days, perfect for eating outside.

i'd love to decorate a wedding like this preferably with a beach view in the background.

do you have a website, online shop, etsy shop?
have you considered blog advertising?
with the increase in internet shopping, blog advertising is a great way to get your name out there & i'd love to have you onboard. see more info here.

table for two

hi everyone..

i couldn't resist the colour of these gorgeous pink roses for this table setting , even though there wasn't a lot of life left in them. i pictured them in my shabby, neglected old jug which had been gathering dust.

i've got a bit of a thing for table settings and plates lately..
i tried to keep it simple and i like the mix of old and new.
the table runner is a piece of hessian / burlap frayed at the edges and the shell garland i made with drilled shells and string. the plates are from the bed bath and table sale, for those in australia, similar to some of my coffee mugs. for the striped ribbon i headed to no chintz. they always have a good selection.

have a great week!
