byron bay colour

The colourful bohemian and surfing cultures is something we love about this area as well as the food. Everything seems to taste better and fresher. There's an abundance of health food shops, healthy cafes, raw food and juice bars.
The weekly farmers' markets are a great opportunity to sample and buy some of the locally grown, mostly organic produce including fresh fruit and veggies, avocados, macadamia nuts, olives as well as seafood.

Here I tried raw pizza, the base made with seeds and topped with vegetables and macadamia nut cheese. Really good!

Sophie, the green smoothie expert, enjoyed the many varieties on offer in town. She recommends the green smoothies at Fundies and Naked Treaties.

ahoy trader

I was looking forward to visiting this amazing shop which is conveniently located only a minute away from Atlantic

It has the feel of a painter's studio with rustic walls filled with vibrant tiles. The artist Jai Vasicek's source of inspiration - the ocean, a childhood spent sailing the world on his family boat and later time spent in Brazil. You can see the different cultural influences in his work from his travels.

I love the unique style Jai has created in artworks including large tiled murals, paintings and textiles. Ahoy Trader also stocks items made by local and Australian artists.

byron beach heaven

The coast of Australia is surrounded by endless beaches, mostly deserted and unspoilt. The long curved stretch of sand at Byron Bay is especially beautiful. To the west the spectacular scenery of green foothills and mountains in the hinterland. To the east the uniquely shaped Cape Byron
This is the view from the Byron Beach cafe where we enjoyed our barramundi and salmon. It's nice to relive it.. I'm already planning my next trip ;)  i wish.

Looking across to The Pass

A different kind of light to what I'm used to with the slightly westerly facing beach at Wategos. I love the clouds reflected in the sand and the shimmer of the sea.

A feeling of serenity in all that space you don't get when you live in a city.

Hope you enjoyed beachcombing at Byron with us.

spell and the gypsy

I know a few of you are looking forward to seeing inside this shop. The Spell and the Gypsy sisters have created this beautiful white space to showcase their dreamy bohemian designs.

Isabella and Elizabeth grew up in a creative family, their father a leather crafter and their mother a painter, potter and weaver.

Natural materials - feathers, leather, turquoise, shells, bone, crystal, silk and cotton are combined to create their unique designs from clothing to jewellery and homewares.

Naturally at home in the carefree environment of Byron Bay.
