Wishing you...

Olo!

The big Santoro Gorjuss Girl stamps that my sister got me for Christmas are still sitting on my desk so I figured why not ink another one up and get her on a card. This time around I chose the cutie dressed as a fairy called, Little Pumpkin. Once again I skipped jumping up to a larger card size to accommodate the entire image and instead I stamped Little Pumpkin from the torso up popping into frame from the bottom left corner on the card. Once I had her all colored up, I masked this Gorjuss Girl off and stamped the leafy vines and large sentiment behind her using sets from Papertrey Ink and Mama Elephant. It kinda looks like she is just checking in to see how the lovely spring day is coming to an end. I'm really having a lot of fun revisiting the Gorjuss Girls and one of these days I'll have to pull out my binder of smaller ones and see what I can do.  ;)

Talk at'cha later!

You are like a snowflake...

TGIF!

I didn't have a lot of crafty time yesterday but I had more new stamps that I got for Christmas sitting on my desk that I wanted to get inky. My sister gifted me some of the extra large Gorjuss Girls from Santoro but doing all that coloring just wasn't going to be possible. That's when I got the idea to mask off the bottom of the card and only ink her from the neck up. The inspiration actually came from all of the large piles of snow in my own yard and I thought it would be kind of funny to have this Gorjuss Girl making her way through her own maze of the frozen white stuff. So I colored her head, masked it off and then used the Copic airbrush system to quickly add color to the sky before splattering "falling snow" all over using a toothbrush and Dr PH Martin's bleed proof white. I gotta admit that I'm pretty pleased with this solution to my time problem and think the card turned out pretty cute. :)

Ok then, see ya back here tomorrow for the first new digi release of the year from Sweet November Stamps

Winter Gorjuss ATCs...

Olo!

It's a pretty busy week around here so I figured I would share a these ATC cards that I made for the 7 Kids swap last month. The theme was 'anything goes' and I inked up a bunch of the mini Gorjuss Girls for some winter themed cards. The smaller size of the ATCs are always such a great way to practice a multitude of backgrounds. But as much fun as these were to create at the time, I'm glad and oh-so-ready to be moving into a new season of crafting. ;)

Ok, gotta run!

Supply list:
cardstock- Papertrey Ink and Catherine Pooler
stamps- Santoro (Mini Gorjuss Girls)
ink- Memento tuxedo black

sorry, I didn't keep a list

Playing catch up...

I like to take this week between Christmas and New Years to catch up on posting cards and projects that haven't made it up on the ol' blog yet. Last year I had a bunch but this year is much more reasonable so I did a lot better on getting them up in a timely manner. Today I've got a couple projects from this past fall to share, first are the ATC cards that I made back in September for a swap at 7 Kids. I used a bunch of Mini Gorjuss Girls since they are the perfect size for these smaller cards and gave each one it's own unique fall background.
And next I've got a card from the Sweet November October release featuring the Wraith Willamina digi bundle. I colored her during a Live coloring in the 7 Kids Customers Create Facebook group but didn't get the card finished in time for Halloween though we had a lot of fun creating that spooky, stormy scene behind our glowing Willamina. :)

Laters!

Hang in there...

Hey there!

I just wanted to pop in real quick for this unscheduled post sharing the Live coloring I did this morning in the 7 Kids Customers Create Facebook group. Our featured vendor this month is Santoro's Gorjuss Girls so I did a Live with this sweet Fly Away With Me stamp and it was requested that I post my Copic list of markers used so this is always the easiest place to do that. So here she is in all her glory, this was really a joy to color!  :)

Thanks...

Hey there!

We are starting a new weekly feature in the 7 Kids emails today with quick Walk Thru Wednesday photo tutorials by the design team. Not only will we be featuring quick tips and tricks for your card making but we will also be featuring stamps from that month's current Featured Vendor. This month is all about Gorjuss Girls and for my WTW card I have colored up the lovely stamp called Birds of a Feather. While these extra large stamps are a lot of fun to color, their large size really fills an entire A2 sized card front. Personally, I love adding a sentiment to the front of my cards so this size can make it kind of difficult to figure out where to fit words in without compromising the overall design. That's where the "eclipse" technique comes in handy. The finished result is a subtle message that blends in beautifully with the scene you have colored. There are plenty more tips and tricks coming from my fellow team mates each week so if you haven't signed up for the 7 Kids newsletter yet be sure to do so on the store home page. And don't forget that you have until the end of January to take advantage of the 20% off Gorjuss Girls when you use the code GORJUSS at check out. :)

Smooches!

Twinkle...

Hello, hello!

I'm back posting for 7 Kids today and I've even got another Gorjuss Girl that I inked up. This time I grabbed one of the minis to play with and ended up with something a bit different. This is actually my second attempt at coloring up Miss Fairy Lights but after my first full color version ran into a series of unfortunate events I decided to take a cue from classic Christmas movies and go black and white. Not only did this save me time in the re-color but it also lent a very dramatic effect to the over all card design which turned out kinda cool. It's hard to tell in the photo but I did add a touch of very light yellow glow to the lights which stands out nicely in person.

Alrighty then, time for me to scoot. TTYL!

Dreaming of a white Chrstmas...

Hey there!

I've got a quick post for 7 Kids to share today. This pretty Pom Pom Gorjuss Girl was just begging to be made into a Christmas card this year. I did alter the original stamp just a bit by wiping away the three little flowers that decorate the frame before stamping since I didn't want flowers for this winter card. Other than that small change this image is ideal for coloring in a simple winter scene, heck... the fact that the stamped image already comes with its own fancy frame saved me from having to dig out a die to do the same job. I did my best to make the frame look silvery and metallic and I do like the contrast of it against the dark grey background. I think it really brings this pretty gal front and center. :)

Alrighty, gotta run... have a good one!

Sunshine for my soul...

TGIF!

I've got a card to share on the 7 Kids Customers Create Facebook page today and it had been a while since I colored up a Gorjuss Girl so Spring at Last seemed the perfect choice. She's another one of the extra large Gorjuss Girls and I love how they fill up an entire card front. At this larger size you can really play around with adding little details to her making the coloring extra fun. I also get a kick out of these bird's eye view images and the different perspective they bring to a card design. I can just feel the summer sun shining down on this lovely lass as she whiles away the day filling her nature book with drawings and specimens. Which ultimately lead to the whole sunshine themed sentiment to pull everything together. :)

Alrighty then, the new "BIRTHDAY" challenge just got under way so there is plenty of time to get inky and join the fun. As always there is a $20 gift certificate to the 7 Kids store up for grabs and all the fall and Christmas goodies will be hitting the shelves before we know it!

You are a magical mermaid...

Olo!

Tuesday I did a live coloring video over in the 7 Kids Customers Create Facebook group and this Gorjuss mermaid was the subject of said video. She is called Awashed and as you can see from my card she is one of the super sized Gorjuss Girls that really fill up the front of an A2 sized card. Which is great fun if you just want to go to town with your coloring. Because most of the original Gorjuss Girl art tends to be more dark and muted I wanted to take this mermaid in a completely different direction. So out came the bright purples, pinks and oranges and now she is a happy little goldfish mer. For the background I simply colored some blue green water using my Copics and added some stamped details with the kelp looking reeds by masking her off first. After the video was filmed and I started putting the card together I did decide to go back and add a few more reeds stamped on top of her which really helped to place Awashed right in the middle of that kelp bed. So if you've got an hour and a half to kill and want to see how she came together I hope you go catch a replay of that live video.  :)

Toodles!

7 Kids ATC swap...

Hello my crafty friends!

Yes, I'm posting on a Saturday because it is time for a new challenge over on the 7 Kids Customers Create Facebook page and it is "anything goes". I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to share the Artist Trading Cards, or ATCs, that I made for the first 7 Kids ATC swap that recently wrapped up. Since I tend to get board creating the same thing over and over, instead I decided what would tie all my cards together would be the use of the mini Gorjuss Girl stamps. Their small size really made them ideal for an ATC because the 2.5"x3.5" footprint totally made them the star of the show. I had so much fun coloring them up and creating unique background scenes for each one. Initially we we only had to make 7 cards for the swap but I accidentally received another swapper's cards so I quickly whipped together that last little gal flying away on the balloon to slip in with the rest of her cards before mailing it on... just to help make up for the delay. :)

Ok, now it's your turn to create something for our "anything goes" themed challenge. As always there is a $20 gift certificate to the 7 Kids store up for grabs and Kelly has added some fun new goodies recently so check it out!

I love you more...

Good morning!

I've got quite the day ahead of me so this post is going to be short and sweet. I'm jumping from coloring up one of the mini Gorjuss Girls last week to a full size beauty this week. This pretty pair are called Purrrfect Love and with that big heart in the background I figured it would make for a sweet Valentine. I wanted the card to have a soft, vintage type feel to it and this retired paper from The Girls' Paperie did the trick. Of course I tried to color them up to match and while the blue got a little away from me I'm really pleased with how well her hat matched the golden beige stripe in the middle of the card. All in all I think they look right at home on this sweet card. :)

Ok, gotta run... later gators!
Supply list:
cardstock- Papertrey Ink

Happy Valentine's Day...

Hello, hello!

I've got a pretty little Valentine card that I've made for 7 Kids Crafting Supply Store today and it features one of the mini Gorjuss Girls. This sweet girl is No. 21 The Collector and I inked her up in desert sand for some no-line coloring. I really like using this technique on Gorjuss Girls when I want to give them blond hair because with the hair being so lined in the stamped image all that black ink with traditional stamping tends to darken it up quite a bit. Pretty much everything else on the card comes from the Simple Stories Romance collection kit and I just can't seem to get enough of it. I love how quick and easy it makes putting a card together. :)

There is still plenty of time to enter this month's challenge over on the 7 Kids blog. Kelly has an awesome $20 gift certificate up for grabs and you could be the lucky winner so get to creating and join the fun!
Supply list:
cardstock- Papertrey Ink and Copic X-Press It

Trick or treat...

Hi there!

It's Tuesday and you know what that means... time for my weekly 7 Kids Your Crafting Supply Store card creation. We are officially one week away from Halloween and I'm still having way too much fun making spooky, cute cards for the holiday. I picked up the Carta Bella Haunted House 6x6 paper pad from 7 Kids a couple months back (it's sold out now) and kinda fell in love with this awesome haunted house sheet of paper. Because it is so big and bold I knew I would have to find just the right stamp to fit into the scene. I got to looking at my Gorjuss Girls again and Piracy immediately caught my eye. Since she is just as big and bold as the print I knew she could hold her own within the design. I even ended up trimming her to fit into the bottom corner so it looks like she is really standing outside of that gate, working up the courage to go knock on the door. ;)

Alrighty, there is still a couple weeks to play along in the October 'anything goes' challenge so head on over to the 7 Kids blog and play along for the chance to win a $20 gift certificate!

Hocus Pocus...

Hello!

I'm here again with my weekly 7 Kids Your Crafting Supply Store card creation. For my card today I wanted to make one of the tiny Gorjuss Girls work on a Halloween card. I finally settled on Gorjuss No. 12 On Top of the World because with a bit of masking I could easily sit her on this large pumpkin from the Stamping Bella Haunted House Outdoor Decor set. Then with the help of a couple old Halloween stamps from my stash and an ink sponged sky I had a not-too-spooky scene for my card that I was quite happy with.   :)

Alrighty, there is still another week to play along in the September 'anything goes' challenge so head on over to the 7 Kids blog and join the fun! New holiday stamps and goodies are hitting the shelves every day and that $30 gift certificate prize could really help to fill a shopping cart!

You shore are sweet...

Hello crafty friends!

It's time for my Tuesday 7 Kids Your Crafting Supply Store card. With summer quickly drawing to a close I wanted to get another one of the brand new Gorjuss Girl stamps on a card. This bathing beauty is called Summer Days and the original image includes an umbrella lying next to her but I wiped it away before stamping. I love the bird's eye view of this image and how we are looking down at her as she daydreams on the beach. I know I said it before but the large size of these new Gorjuss Girls is so awesome for when you just want to sit and color. This card is an A2 and she totally fills the space, leaving just enough room for a sentiment and a few little embellishments. I couldn't resist adding just a hint of the sea down in the corner to help give her a sense of place and I think it works... can't you smell that salty sea air? ;)

Now don't forget the monthly challenge over on the 7 Kids blog, there is still plenty of time to get creative. As always, Kelly has an awesome $20 gift certificate up for grabs and you could be the lucky winner!
Supply list:

Hello crafty friends!

It's time for my Tuesday 7 Kids Your Crafting Supply Store card. So yesterday morning I opened up my recent order from 7 Kids and the brand new Gorjuss Girl stamps were in there. OMGoodness... they are SO cute! Not only that but they are huge! I have quite the collection of Gorjuss Girl stamps that date back to their beginnings with Sugar Nellie and none of those come close to competing with these beauties in size. Just look at how much space Little Fishes takes up on the front of an A2 card. So if you are in the mood to color, color, color and not have to worry about working pattern papers and doodads into a card design these stamps are a colorists dream!

Now don't forget the monthly challenge over on the 7 Kids blog, there is still plenty of time to get creative. Kelly has an awesome $20 gift certificate up for grabs and you could be the lucky winner!

Oh, my Lordy bees...

Hi gals!

I have some exciting news to share this morning. Recently I was invited to join the design team for 7 Kids Your Crafting Supply Store, formerly 7 Kids College Fund. There are so many great crafty supplies to be found there that I am just tickled pink to help represent this fine shop. So to kick things off with my new team I have made a card for the March 'anything goes' challenge on the 7 Kids challenge blog. Playing along is easy, all you have to do is use at least one product that can be found in the 7 Kids store and link back to the challenge blog in your own post, which gives you a chance at winning a $20 gift certificate at the end of the month... who doesn't love that?
For my challenge inspiration card I decided to ink up one of the cute mini Gorjuss Girl stamps called The Pretend Friend. Because I also found this bright, pretty floral print in the Echo Park Happiness is Homemade collection I knew that I wanted my Gorjuss Girl to have blond hair. That can be difficult with the GG stamps sometimes because there are so many lines in the hair that stamping in black ink can really dull down any attempts at light color hair. So this seemed to be the perfect opportunity for some no-line coloring and by stamping her in a lighter ink she really turned into quite the Goldilocks. Talk about a happy looking card!

Alrighty, I hope to see some of my crafty friends joining the fun with me this month over at 7 Kids!   :)

Love you more...

TGIF!

Good news! After a morning wrestling with the plumbing I once again am enjoying running water. Is it crazy that I'm looking forward to this weekend's snowstorm because warmer temps are coming with it?  And by warmer I mean at freezing instead of this constant below freezing week we've just had.
So I was flipping through my stamps yesterday and realized that it had been way too long since I made a card with a lovely little Gorjuss Girl stamp. When I came across Heartfelt I knew that a Valentine's Day card was going to happen. Now usually I pick my papers first and match my Copics to it but this time I just started coloring. I ended up using pinks that aren't a usual go-to for me and I gotta say that I'm quite pleased with the end result, Heartfelt is really rockin' the hot pink. I used a shimmery white Smooch gloss on her heart necklace which looks really pretty in person though in this photo it just looks flat. But I promise it looks very shiny and pretty in real life.

Ok friends, have a crafty weekend!  :)

Flowers in your garden...

Olo!

This darling gal is one of the newest Gorjuss Girl stamps and her name is The Little Friend. She's another stamp that has been rather neglected considering I got her during my month of mermaids but now was the perfect time to finally get her on a card of her own. Something about her fun and funky ensemble, with the galoshes and apron, had me picturing her working out in her flower garden. But it's not just any ol' ordinary flower garden, no... Little Friend is all about being creative and eclectic. That's where this pretty paper from the Happy Glamper collection comes into play, I love how it makes it look like she has planted her flowers in old jars and re purposed light bulbs. Now I think I will enter this card into the current "anything goes" challenge over on the Sugar Nellie blog since I've missed the last couple months.

Have a good one crafty friends!
