Glaze Firing

It's always fun to open the kiln after a glaze fire cools down.  The transformation is so cool!  We have such amazing artists!

Bisque Fire Complete

Students have been creating with clay.  These are a few of the pieces from the first firing.  I can't wait to see them glazed!

Results!

Students have been working diligently and the final glaze fire is quite the reveal.  They did a great job!

Adventures in Clay

Students created clay vessels using a variety of techniques.  It's always fun to see the final results of the glaze fire.  They did a great job!

Reclaiming clay

Some of my students and I have begun preparing clay for use later in the trimester.  Since the reclaimed clay is very wet, we are letting some of the water evaporate, then portioning it out when workable.  After that, it's put in individual bags and stored until we are ready to use it.

For the Birds

Students used clay to create their version of a "crazy bird."

Clay Projects

Students worked with clay to create a variety of unique pieces.  They were finished with acrylic paint.

After School Art

Creating Art After School

This year we focused on different types of sculpture.

Students had the opportunity to create rhythm pods and create their choice of clay sculptures.

Students also created abstract sculpture using wood, wire, nylon, gesso and paint.  They viewed ideas from other artists and then had the choice of creating something inspired by one of the artists or an idea of their own.

Our last exploration was kinetic sculpture - Calder inspired mobiles.
