Valentine Altered Art

Who doesn't love a deal? Nobody that I know! Including me. So when I found 2 canvas prints on sale for 80% off, I had to have them. I decided to have a little fun and change them up for Valentine's Day.
The first one started off like this...
I used a paper heart shaped doily as a stencil to add a heart...

Then I painted a banner across the canvas...
I added a little of the colors from the banner to the heart & painted the word, LOVE...

For the second canvas, I kept it a little more simple.
I just focused on adding a little color to the basket by filling it with flowers.

Don't be scared to alter art. Especially if you spend less than $4 on each piece!

Blooming Valentines With Oriental Trading Company

Nothing says Valentine's Day more than flowers and candy!
So why not create a blooming Valentine for someone special?

This project is easy enough for kids to do and will make them a big hit with their friends.

I started by shopping the huge selection of Valentine related items on the Oriental Trading website. They have a Valentine's craft section, as well as a Valentine's party supply section, and I found just what I needed for this project.

I started with these cute little metal pails filled with heart shaped chocolate candy. You can find them HERE.

I removed the candy...

Then I placed the pail upside down on floral foam, pressed it into the foam to make a template, and cut it out. Smaller children with need help with this part.

I then pressed the floral foam into the pail...

I created flowers using foam hearts (found HERE) and adorable hot air balloon shaped lollipops (found HERE).

I used a small hole punch to add a hole at the base of the foam hearts...

Then I threaded them onto the lollipops...

I placed the candy hearts back into the pails, then inserted the lollipop flowers into the floral foam.

For a pretty backdrop, I created a banner by connecting paper doilies (found HERE) together using glue dots...

Love will bloom when you share this deliciously cute craft with the people you adore!

Oriental Trading supplied me with the items used, however all opinions are my own. Check them out the next time you are on the hunt for craft supplies!

Sugar Molds & Succulents

Sugar molds have been popular in home decorating for quite some time. I remember first seeing them 20 years ago at a flea market. I wanted one, but didn't want to pay the price they were asking.
I recently was able to purchase some at a wholesale price.
I usually see them filled with candles, but I didn't want to go that route. So, I painted one with chalk paint from The Dixie Belle Paint Company.
Then I distressed it...
I love how the barn red looked on the sugar mold...
It would have looked great with candles, but again,
I had something else in mind.
I added Dollar Store succulents to the sugar mold...
And, the best part is that I can't kill them!
