Upcycled Pickle & Olive Jars

There are a lot of great things you can do with jars. Pinterest is full of ideas! Typically what you see are things made using mason jars. But don't throw away your plain run of the mill jars that things like pickles, olives, spaghetti sauce, and other things come in. You can make them pretty!
I have been saving some jars and decided to make them into votives.
I used two pickle jars and one olive jar...
After removing the labels. I pulled out some pretty napkins that I've had for a while...

The napkins were 2 ply so I pulled them apart...
Notice how one half has a lighter version of the printed design. You'll see how I used that piece too.

Once my napkins were separated, I began covering my jar with ModPodge and then I applied the napkin, working a small section at a time ...

After the jar was covered, I added a coat of the ModPodge over the napkin. I tore away the excess paper from the top and glued the excess paper at the bottom underneath the jar.

I used wire to attach key charms to each jar...

For the jar above, I used that part of the napkin that just had the lighter design. Oops...is that the expiration date  showing through? Why, yes it is! Don't worry, I can fix it.

Next, using E6000, I wrapped twine around the mouth of the jars...
No more expiration date! I brought the twine down low enough to cover it.

And, finally, I added a candle to each jar...

These beautiful jars would also make a nice vase.
Or, a great gift for Mother's Day!
